  1. I have absolutely no basis to evaluate those candidates and will not claim any insight into that question. All I have to say is that some people make it blatantly obvious why they care about one issue and pass completely on another, and we just saw an example of exactly that. It's also not the first time from that poster where a certain group of people get singled out by them when they do something he doesn't like, while anything bad that happens to them he just brushes off.
  2. Obviously you have to see how far he falls as BABIP giveth and BABIP taketh away...but he's still such a natural fit for the White Sox that I'll stick with the statement made months ago that they'll take him if he's there. If he ends up the season hitting like .275 that's one thing, but while he's having his numbers go down a bit it looks like compared to 2018 he's actually walking and getting on base more, so I wonder if he's just not being pitched to at all right now and expanding the zone a bit since no one will challenge him. So if his batting average and slugging go down a bit this year, but he actually gets on base more, that's a pretty good sign.
  3. While that's not true...why wouldn't they have an audience for that it's their taxpayer dollars being spent on those brutality payments. It's almost as if there's something different about those people , who clearly include you, where you're 100x as outraged about Smollett but you don't care about the others because you look at them and somehow decide they're not really worth anything, and that also triggers your extra outrage in this case. I wonder what might make you react that way.
  4. That mayor has had hundreds of millions of dollars in police brutality payments sent out during his time, said more words about this case today than any of them, and of course that's the one you care about.
  5. correct, although you could have added some other Hahn names to the list from that year.
  6. Rick Hahn's moves are the fault of everyone but Rick Hahn ©
  7. Try that line at one of your colleague's funerals.
  8. Extra points if you saw this coming?
  9. Because if you got a really good chance at Jose Iglesias that player under your control for 6 years is pretty useful.
  10. Rips up contract, 5/$137 guaranteed, opt out after 2022, $33 million option for 2024. https://es.pn/2YrPBR1 both of my dream trade targets to fill starting pitching roles have been extended in the past week. There are virtually no TOR pitching options left.
  11. That...would not be the best use of several million dollars in international signing money.
  12. But then they sign Eloy and miss out on the veteran they supposedly targeted.
  13. So I haven't seen this in game threads but I haven't been in all of them so I'll ask... Did Jay just go 10 days without playing and have no one here notice?
  14. This statement doesn't seem to describe much of our offseason.
  15. That would be a fairly high-risk move if you already had done your job scouting and lined up decent quality players. If this guy says no to you, then you've left yourself no backup plan.
  16. By July, the White Sox could potentially have 2-3 capable relievers to move in a deal like that depending on the health of Herrera and Jones. They might have to include some money, but that could strengthen a White Sox offer.
  17. Yes. Hell, according to Magglio Ozzie actually told him that he better sign that contract while he was lying on the ground with the shredded leg.
  18. For a contract with tons of deferred money that was substantially less in total value than what he got from the Tigers after injury.
  19. Mark Buehrle is the obvious answer of a guy who took a better contract to leave. It was not a contract the White Sox should have signed, but he left because someone offered him a heaping pile of money.
  20. And yet their strategy has led to far more playoff appearances than anyone else since the AL Central was created.
  21. If you think that Happ is worth way more than Colome, then the White Sox have one player who might interest the Cubs who is worth more than our relievers and that's Carlos Rodon.
  22. Why is it not ok if the money to get someone around the rules goes to a private entity but it's ok if they just bribe the school directly to change the rules?
  23. A couple months ago I said Vaughn going to the White Sox seemed almost preordained because it just seemed so White Sox like. Now I gotta admit - having everyone holding their breath to see if they will pass on a high schooler seems equally White Sox like.
  24. From the perspective of someone who deals with young adults, this just isn't funny at all.
