  1. Compare it straight up. Moncada + Machado or Arenado and a 2nd round pick (lost for signing Machado) + about $50 million. Which is better for the White Sox? I'll take the former.
  2. I'll be honest, after this first half, I have no idea what Harper's price will be. I could very well see him taking a 1 year deal if he finishes this season hitting .220.
  3. Somewhat on this subject, our old friend Frankie Montas, traded as part of the Rick Hahn Special to the Dodgers for Todd Frazier and then to Oakland as part of the Rich Hill/Josh Reddick deal, shut down the Astros with a 6 inning 0 run performance last night.
  4. Well yeah, you explicitly did. We nominated a person, a person that even Republicans said was too moderate for Obama to nominate, you literally said we will not confirm him or vote for him even though he would have passed his nomination, and then tossed that same rule away this time. That literally happened.
  5. Reblogging this post will be one of the only bright spots.
  6. Yeah that's not an overpay for him, that's a fair value for his first year. You need to put $50 million on the table to make it an overpay for a 1 year deal, to give him a reason to turn down a guaranteed $100 million.
  7. WTF? Did he go down for Tommy John surgery while I was in Montana? He's getting $100 million otherwise.

  9. Your #2 starter currently has an ERA of 5.77. Yeah it's in Coors, but seriously, that team is no match for the big guys.
  10. Houston would be a reasonable destination as they just lost Ariza.
  11. You can't use a trade exemption along with players to take back a larger deal, you can only use it to take back something like $11 million.
  12. According to the Trade Machine, Felicio for Anthony does not work either. The Bulls are under the cap but they're not $27 million under the cap, so they can't simply absorb his contract. According to the Trade Machine, the incoming salary can only be about $5 million more than the outgoing salary given that the Bulls can't absorb the whole contract. If I'm reading this right there's basically no way for the Bulls to make this work. Felicio + Lopez does it, but I don't know if that solves the ungodly OKC luxury tax situation.
  13. Because every other team would have told the pitcher to throw a pitch high and outside that wasn't buntable and our guy would have struck out on the 3rd pitch with the runner tagged out at home.
  14. I've found Alomar's playing weight listed between 200 and 235, so all Anderson needs to do is add another 40 lb or so.
  15. That's assuming he wasn't on something else before the Tetrahydrogestrinone. The "I'm going to go on the hard stuff" line he fed to Griffey according to that one book could darn well have meant he was on softer stuff before that, there are plenty of drugs like the Stanozolol that can help you build muscle and recover from injury without having your head expand 3 sizes, and it's not like we can assume he's an honorable person who wouldn't cheat on principle.
  16. The fact that it seems to make sense is probably the biggest reason why it won't happen.
  17. This is the first time in franchise history that the Astros have swept a season series of 7 or more games.
  18. Felicio has $24 million remaining over 3 seasons, Anthony has $27.9 million this year. Close, but no.
  19. He was yelling at himself while coming off the field after the 7th, with that bunt.
  20. The Stros broadcast showed like 4 replays a minute ago as their play of the day, he was standing straight up, that was going to be a high fastball.
  21. He's been getting gradually weaker against fastballs year after year, I caught that in his stats about 2 weeks ago. What happened last year though was he suddenly became far better against basically every single offspeed pitch and that pushed his numbers back up. So far though, that's been unsustainable, he's just back to normal against offspeed stuff, but he's continued getting weaker and weaker against good fastballs.
  22. The Padres owner had publicly called out Shields, by name, for being unprepared for the year right after that 10 R start.
