To me, it has nothing to do with how much revenue a team is bringing in. To me, it has EVERYTHING to do with a team's competitiveness. If a team is competitive, why contract them?

I don't think that's a trade either team would do. Vlad is better, but it's just not a trade that would make much sense. It's like trading $1,000,000 for $1,000,010. Sure, you're getting a better return, but by the time you count out all the bills, is it really worth it?

What's Crede's problem? Why is EVERY throw over to 1st in the dirt? If he can't throw across the diamond, maybe we need to find someone who can. He's got 7 errors, but if it wasn't for A LOT of good picks over there by PK, he'd easily have in double digits.

He was up to .288 after the last LA game, but his 1 for 7 in the first 2 games of this series dropped him to .283. He's probably up to .285 after that HR.

The only knock on Vladdy is his errors...12 in '97, 17 in '98, 19 in '99, 10 in '00, 12 in '01, 10 in '02. Other than that, he's the best IMO. The curse of having a cannon for an arm -- you tend to make lots more errors as a result. Vlad is the best. I'd take Magglio, then Sosa, then Ichiro after that.

Dimaggio did not hit 500, you're right. His career numbers are .325, 361, and 1537. He was a 3-time MVP, but to me the most amazing thing is that he had 361 career HR, and only 369 career strikeouts. That is simply amazing. If you combine his best numbers, his best year would have been .381, 46, 167. Excellent numbers.

I agree with you to a point. Stats can be deceiving, but when you see a guy with a career average of .333, you can bet your ASS he was a great player.

I noticed a difference in the Sox play a couple of weeks back. Unfortunately, it didn't translate into many wins, but we've won 4 out of our last 5, and I really believe we're turning things around. Only time will tell...
