  1. No. The Sox are competitive. I'm talking about teams like the Tigers.
  2. To me, it has nothing to do with how much revenue a team is bringing in. To me, it has EVERYTHING to do with a team's competitiveness. If a team is competitive, why contract them?
  3. I don't think that's a trade either team would do. Vlad is better, but it's just not a trade that would make much sense. It's like trading $1,000,000 for $1,000,010. Sure, you're getting a better return, but by the time you count out all the bills, is it really worth it?
  4. What's Crede's problem? Why is EVERY throw over to 1st in the dirt? If he can't throw across the diamond, maybe we need to find someone who can. He's got 7 errors, but if it wasn't for A LOT of good picks over there by PK, he'd easily have in double digits.
  5. Is there anything sweeter to watch than a homer by the Big Hurt? Sports wise, of course.
  6. So should we contract Oakland too?
  7. He was up to .288 after the last LA game, but his 1 for 7 in the first 2 games of this series dropped him to .283. He's probably up to .285 after that HR.
  8. 88 career 1st inning HR's for the future Hall of Famer. 2-0 Sox.
  9. With an ERA over 5.00, he's not winning 20 anywhere except maybe the local little league field.
  10. 2 of the teams you want to contract are over .500. Teams that are over .500 should not be contracted. Maybe you move Montreal, but you don't get rid of them. I don't disagree with TB and FL, though.
  11. Costas should be the next MLB commish. He's got a great mind and I love his thoughts.
  12. The only knock on Vladdy is his errors...12 in '97, 17 in '98, 19 in '99, 10 in '00, 12 in '01, 10 in '02. Other than that, he's the best IMO. The curse of having a cannon for an arm -- you tend to make lots more errors as a result. Vlad is the best. I'd take Magglio, then Sosa, then Ichiro after that.
  13. Dimaggio did not hit 500, you're right. His career numbers are .325, 361, and 1537. He was a 3-time MVP, but to me the most amazing thing is that he had 361 career HR, and only 369 career strikeouts. That is simply amazing. If you combine his best numbers, his best year would have been .381, 46, 167. Excellent numbers.
  14. I agree with you to a point. Stats can be deceiving, but when you see a guy with a career average of .333, you can bet your ASS he was a great player.
  15. Let me clarify -- we COULD have gotten both Durham and Colon, but JR wasn't willing to spend that much money.
  16. This is probably as consistent as our pitching has been, also.
  17. I noticed a difference in the Sox play a couple of weeks back. Unfortunately, it didn't translate into many wins, but we've won 4 out of our last 5, and I really believe we're turning things around. Only time will tell...
  18. The Big Hurt. Bo made me a Sox fan, but Frank kept me a Sox fan after Bo left. We love you Frank, and keep up the mashing!!!
  19. They won't show it because it would just give the nitwit fan the attention that he so desperately needs. Obvious mental problems. Hopefully some time in jail will cure his illness(es).
  20. 1 walk -- and it was intentional.
  21. Foolish comment by Ray. And people call Jimenez arrogant... Anyway, if we had paid Ray $5M or whatever, we couldn't have acquired Colon. I'm happy with the organization's decision.
  22. We don't need fans running on the field for ANY reason. These incidents put just as black of an eye on the sport as Sammy Sosa did.
  23. Are those pitching matchups on paper? Because Billy told us the old paper story, LOL. Now, if you read them on the internet, that's a horse of a different color...I think.
  24. I did ask. Just because it wasn't in a way that was "nice", that doesn't mean I didn't ask. .... Joshie
