  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) Hopefully we can come back tonight. If not, this is a terrible f***ing sports day. Tigers won, Yankees won, Cubs won, and the Bulls pick the Tyson Chandler of college bball. this may have been the first time in human history you've ever used the word "hopefully"
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) We have the best offense in baseball, we have the second best record. We have our number 2 pitcher going up against a guy who might crack our AAA rotation. The royals swept them. Okay, now pay attention...because this is the part no one seems to be getting where did the Royals sweep them?
  3. Maybe I should invoke the "I wouldn't be surprised if tonight's game was the start of a long losing streak" battle cry :rolly
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) The Pirates suck. In the past, we would have problems because the teams we were chasing would dominate the weak teams, and we would lose games to those weak teams that we shouldn't have. However, the Pirates have clearly outplayed us tonight so far. The Pirates are nearly a .500 team at home. The Pirates do indeed suck on the road
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) We haven't played a bad team in about a month. And when we do we seem to struggle at times. Yes, when you play 6-8 bad teams an aggregate 50 times a year, guess what, you are not going to go 50-0. As long as the Sox win this series, we have nothing to complain about. The Pirates are a very competitive team at home.
  6. The sox haven't lost a game to a bad team in about a month, and now that they are two runs behind late in the game you guys are already having a b****fest
  7. do we know anything yet?
  8. gar·land Pronunciation (gärlnd) n. 1. a. A wreath or festoon, especially one of plaited flowers or leaves, worn on the body or draped as a decoration.
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) Isn't there a better way to spend $10 million? If you're satisfied with those low standards, why don't we sign someone like Mark Redman instead? it's a matter of sunk costs. It's useless to look at the $10 million and say we better get something out of it. We already committed to spending it. IT GONE! No matter if we pitch garland or not, that money ain't coming back. Garland has been mediocre. Not terrible, not below average, not good, mediocre. He'd be a 4 on other teams, he is a 5 on ours. If he gets 12-13 wins and a 5 era, that's a 7 win, 4.50 ERA performance from here on in. I'll take that. Nothing Garland is going to do for these last three months is going to shake his 2006 reputation as a shaky pitcher who had a career year. Postseason games are way too valuable to f*** around with.
  10. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) As long as Garland gets me 12-13 wins with a 5 ERA and a spot on the bench in the postseason, I will be a happy, happy man. well said, ndgt
  11. if we're "beating ourselves" with poor pitching, then we didn't beat the cardinals either of the first two games, they "beat themselves" :rolly
  12. well, now it comes down to whether Ozzie wants to win this game or lose this game. If he wants to have a chance to win, Garland won't be back for the fifth.
  13. any major league (non-NL) offense and Jon's lack of control would have us down by 5
  14. for those that don't get it yet: when you talk about sportswriters, you give them EXACTLY what they want.
