  1. Furcal will be begging to come here once he sees how well we do the rest of the year..
  2. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) For the last time...Arizona had a high payroll in 2001, 8th highest payroll in MLB at $85 million, and it would've been higher if it weren't for players taking deferrred salaries. Over the last 10 World Series, how many of the winners were top 8 in payroll? I'm gonna guess 8. Edit: sorry, slightly off. What do you consider to be a low payroll? and it really depends on what kind of hearts the players play with and how hard they play... Come on.. money isn't everything.. If you don't believe the Sox will get anywhere then why are you here? to watch us fail?

    Next stop...

"We will not stand for the F---ing signs being removed," the officer told the broadsheet. "It may be very amusing for you British, but F---ing is simply F---ing to us. What is this big F---ing joke? It is puerile." Local guide Andreas Behmueller said it was only the British that had a fixation with F---ing. "But for the British, it's all about F---ing."
  4. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) You cannot build a complete world series caliber team today in major league baseball with a second tier payroll. We asked guys like Eldred and Valentin and Perry and Parque and Baldwin to carry us in 2000, and they did that for most of the year. But they are really mediocre players who were just having a pretty good stretch of a season together. Sure it won us a division title. This year, we're asking guys like Podsednik and Dye and Hermanson and Iguchi and Garland and Uribe and Crede to do the same thing. Are they great players? Hardly. Some are above average in some respects, maybe. Some are clearly below average. Have they done some things to win us a lot of ballgames? Sure. It's been a fun ride, and it'll be cool to see the Sox hopefully in the playoffs again. Even if it's another first round sweep. I guess. *sigh* I know attendance has been good and we hopefully will be opening the pocketbook up this offseason, but as a fan, I'm sick of trying to make another $70-80 million payroll team look like a $115 million payroll team. It's what I was doing in 2000, and more and more this August, it seems like it's what I'm doing in 2005. No matter how hard I squint, I still see a lineup that pales in comparison to any other AL contender. I see a pitching staff that is dead tired from trying to carry the team. I see long faces and worn out looks. Is there any hope that one day the Sox will actually spend like they want to win a World Series? Yeah, yeah, I know...Al Belle.....eons ago. Or are we eternally destined to that second tier of payroll...one in which very few (lucky as f***) teams are able to build championship teams with in a non-salary cap baseball environment. Also, I am trying REALLY hard to stay positive. This post is just so f***ed up.. I reall ydoesn't seem like you are TRYING at all to stay positive.. The Yankees have showed you that money doesn't always buy you a championship.. Arizona, Florida, Anaheim and a bunch of runner up teams can show you that as evidence.. David Eckstein.. who ever heard of him before the World Series? :headshake
  5. Sox lose = everyone thinks they are going nowhere Sox win = WOAH we rock, UNDEFEATED
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) I think Buehrle was being very serious when he said this. Well he could have been or he could have said it because it's Mark Buehrle and he is funny/weird and it could be true..
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) WHOO! Seriously, I came into this thread with the sole intention of saying game time...jerk. screw you guys, that's why I came in here too..
  8. It sounded like Mark was talking in a more joking/sarcastic manner. He was saying that it could happen and if it does then it won't happen again, but if it's not then he know that the rangers are a good hitting team. Good luck next game.
  9. Ron Karkovice, aka the garbage man.... that's what we always called him
  10. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) Lets just all agree that coming out right after the bad performance and making such comments was not a real smart thing to do by Buehrle, and leave it at that. It would have served him better to just tell his coaches and teammates to look out for it the next 2 days, tehn saying anything to the press.

    Unbelievable

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) $4500 per person for everyone in the US? worth it :headshake
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) Excellent work. I've been seeing a lot of predictions that have A&M winning the Big 12 South. They have Texas in College Station this year. Should be a great season if A&M competes. Adds something to the usual Oklahoma vs. Texas rivalry. Since moving down here I've been following the Longhorns and loving UT football. GO BAYLOR!!!
  13. I think Mark made a guess, but he could easily be wrong.. I respect him and what he says so I don't think this is that bad of a comment. He knows what to expect from the media and who cares? They will forget about his comments two days from now. GO MARK!
  14. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) I've warned several people not to talk to me when the White Sox struggle. yeah same here.. I get really pissed when they slump and people know that I will be mad. I get mad even after they lose just one game.
  15. I was thinking of team america also.. but back to the topic I was actually hoping someone found or taped it.. I was thinking of trying to tape it on my camera. The quality will be crappy but it is better that what I have already.
  16. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) SO? :rolly I will make a thread for you as well...
  17. I've been to 16 stadiums overall.. so to answer your question, no.. but it sounds like a lot of fun.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) Not a chance in the world that Contreras is only 33. I'll challenge that.. Ok, Contreras is still improving and Loaiza peaked out..
  19. How's my sig look? Does it totally suck?
  20. Jose is younger and has more potential... He will only improve.. Loaiza already reached his peak with the sox.
