  1. Why does everybody think that Konerko all he cares about is money. I think if the offers are pretty close he would accept the Sox offer.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) Which wasn't the point made. And no, Bruce will not still have the same credentials working for a station NOT covering the Sox.. he still has access to KW, probably Reinsdorf, and the players. WSCR did.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) And AM1000 no longer carries baseball. Yes.. it is. Learn it. no but they can still cover it. Like WSCR was doing before this year. Bruce still has the same access to White Sox Personnel that he did a year ago.
  4. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) Here's proof that I call 'em like I see 'em. The Wolverines have played 3 consecutive halves of defense. It might not sound like much, but that makes them the third best team in the Big Ten. -- Only tOSU and PSU have played more than 3 halves of defense this season. -- If they keep improving, the BIG GAME will be just that. The Winner of the Big Ten will have 2 losses in conference if Michigan continues to step it up. On another note, WTF happened to the defense in the Big Ten. -- Iowa's got the personnel in their back 7 to be good, but their scheme allows them to be picked apart by good teams. Michigan had an incredibly porous secondary until the last 3 halves. Wisconsin is not nearly as good as they are ranked, solely because they have no defense. Minnesota, LOL. MSU wins only because they can score 50 points a game. What happened to 3 yards and a cloud of dust? Yeah MSU's secondary is bad and that's being nice. Minnesota has no defense. Even the Buckeyes defense hasn't been great during the last few games. Right now the two best defenses in the Big Ten are Michigan and Penn State.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Cleo has spoken.. If the Score don't want him, which is the indication at this point since they currently don't use him for crap - and have been vocal about not being able to stand his stupid arse.. he's done. He is staying at ESPN 1000. That's what i was saying. Reading is a skill.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) There is no way in hell Konerko takes a pay cut from 2005 to 2006 when he's a free agent. Let's come back to the real world, please. Delgado did and truth be told if you gave me a choice between the two i would say Delgado is the better player.
  7. You can't argue that John Rooney does the best Vin Scully imitation.
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) Levine, as far as I know, is done as the Baseball Insider. He said it during one of the playoff games. Dolgin I couldn't imagine being brought to the Score, but I sure to hell hope he is. He grew on me big time throughout the year, I thought he was fantastic as the season went on. It'd make it a bit easier to lose Rooney if we kept Bryan on the pre and post. no what he meant was that he won't be on the pre game shows but he will still cover them.
  9. And you know what the funny thing is. Kyle Orton might be the best QB in the division this year. I mean Daunte Culpepper was brutal this season and Favre hasn't been great (granted he has nothing to work with but Orton doesn't have all that much besides Moose and Jones). Garcia is an average QB at best. I'm not saying that Orton is great right now but he will be. What a steal in the 4th round to have found your future QB. Orton is a very tough kid because if RW had hit Grossman like that Grossman would already be in a cast. Here is the big question now. What do you do with Grossman? He is gonna want to start so why not sign a veteran QB in the offseason and trade for a Wide Receiver.
  10. I know the Score has the money. Pay the guy. God Damnit!
  11. Can't wait to see Jarhead this friday. I have been waiting for that movie for a couple of months now.
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) $18M. Ummm no; oh well it was an absurd amount of money that would go from the first to the second year.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) I don't think there is such thing as "clean" program on that level. Coach Carr just hasn't got caught yet. Carr is one of the several guys out there that are not running dirty programs.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) On the other hand, what happens if we offer Konerko the same amount of money as some other team, but we offer it backloaded, the other team doesn't, and Paulie decides that the non-backloaded deal is the better option, and we lose him for that incredibly stupid reason? If we want him back next year, we should not jerk him around. Don't push for obscene amounts of deferred cash, don't push too hard for anything backloaded...if we want to keep him, we need to be willing to match what other people offer, not just in dollars and cents but in the details of the contract. I don't think we can afford to lose the guy, and if we're going to pay the money anyway, that's not something that's worth risking losing him. some of the money will be deferred. I mean Delgado got $4 Million last year and will now get somewhere around $18 Million.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) STFU you little b****y Michigan fan. The most dirty program, come on. If you want to talk about sports in general, didnt U of M get a title taken from them? Do you think maybe there is a reason that other schools get punished, oh yeah they get caught cause they are stupid. If you think that only a select few schools give their players benefits you are dead wrong. EVERYONE does it. I will tell you our big QB at my school (I wont name names but he plays on a NFL team based in pittsbugh) definatley got his share of freebies. In fact my buddy who was a nickel back got a ton of s*** from the school. The morons that get caught, get punished. That doesn't make it right. Also the Michigan baksetball program got what they deserved. However this has never happened for the football program. Coach Carr runs a clean program. OSU doesn't. In fact most of Michigan's players are high character players who do a ton of stuff for Ann Arbor outside of football. A lot of OSU players have acted like thugs who should be punished more severly/
  16. I hope they can backload Konerko's contract. Like have him earn $6 Million for the first year and he ends up earning $14.5 Million in the last year of the contract. That would total up to $49 Million and you can put bonuses in there to.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) If they come at him with that, he will laugh in their faces. why he will get his money. That is sort of how Buehrle's contract was structured.
  18. I think that Garland's contract should be escalating each year like this: 06: $4.5 Million 07: $8 Million 08: $10 Million 09: Club Option for $12 Million or 3 Million Buyout. That would total $25.5 Million for 3 years plus a club option.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) I'm not really sure how high the trade value is on a 33 year old reliever with a horribly bad back and who's also comming off a career year. yeah but he has played through it for most of his career. He had a career year but his trade value has to be a bit high considering he had 34 saves and can start or work out of the pen.
  20. I saw 2 movies: Crash (best movie of the year so far) and Hotel Rawanda (it was Ok). Crash is very powerful and it really makes you think about racial treatment that sort of go unnoticed. Ludacris was great as was all the rest of this cast. The visuals were excellent. Hotel Rawanda was ok but not great. Don Cheadle was great and deserved an oscar nominee but other than that i wasn't that impressed. I can't wait for Jarhead to come out Friday.
  21. With Jenks pretty much now the closer will they keep Hermanson because of his versatility or trade him when his value is high.
  22. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) They have a right not to go if they don't want to. I wouldn't call them names, people still have strong beliefs against it, many people do and if that's the way they feel, let them be that way. For me, it wouldn't matter to me but I'm not everyone. my cousin is gay and the thing is that if you walked up to him on the street you would have no idea that he is gay. The problem is that there is this gay stereotype around which couldn't be farther from the truth. My cousin is a huge Yankee fan (lives in New York), is a lawyer, and doesn't even live in the gay part of New York. Yet because he is gay people just assume he talks with a lisp, wears dresses, and sleeps with little boys. And that is not the case at all. In fact he was married for 5 years before he came out. I have a great time hanging out with my cousin. I am personally not gay however if people want to be gay let them be gay.
  23. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) There is a big difference between Hermanson's "peace sign" goatee and Rowand versus Piazza having his beard shaved into the shape of a chain. Only one of these men gets their beard possessionally sculped by a stylist. The Miller Lite commercial would call it "man-scaping". Others would say "metrosexual". Either way, there have been whispers about Piazza for a long time. wasn't he married last off-season.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) Some Elementary Schools start in the afternoon. you do know that i am only a year younger than you. Also this isn't sour grapes. This is the fact that College players are semi pro players and shouldn't get any special benefits. It isn't right.
