Bears impending QB "controversy"?

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) Ok, but what about these guys? Drew Brees 6'0" Jake Delhomme 6'2" Brett Favre 6'2"- about where the height of a QB should be Jeff Garcia 6'1"- Very Mobile Kelly Holcombe 6'2" Steve McNair 6'2" Jake Plummer 6'2" Anthony Wright 6'1" I think the height argument is overrated. Im not talking about height Im really talking about weight. Brees is actually mobile enough to buy time to throw to his receivers. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) Grossman is about 6'1. There are a lot of QB's in the league who are only around the 6'2 mark, and Vick is only 6'0. You don't get selected as a 1st round pick, if you don't have the talent to make it, especially at a premium position in the NFL. Grossman has success with Spurrier's system, and with another offensive system, he threw an excellent deep ball and has good accuracy. My point on Orton vs. Grossman is this. Grossman's best game against the Redksins a few season ago when the Bears had the likes of Justin Gage to throw to etc. he threw for 245 yards. Orton is only averaging 148.3 Y/G. Don't you think if the Bears are going to take the next step, they need someone who can throw at least 200 Y/G, who can help open up the offense? The Bears have an elite defense, and an excellent running game to boot. But at the moment, with Orton behind center, they're going nowhere in the playoffs. In the next year or 2, once Orton perhaps gets comfortable at the NFL level, then yeah the Bears could make some noise. But in a weak - wide open NFC, they could make some noise now, if they decide to take the risk and go to Rex. yes but if you read what i said Vick is mobile enough to escape from pressure from the defense. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) You act like Grossman is the only person in the history of football for which that's ever happened. What about Mark Bradley? Is he going to re-injure his knee now because of what he did when he comes back? Because the the scouting report coming out of college was that he wasn't physically big enough and he wasn't that mobile. It said that he would get injured very quickly in the NFL. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) The point of the whole thing is that he is a rookie.... and Grossman has been in the league a lot longer even if he doesnt have all the game experiance. And when Grossman was in there with worse WR's he threw a more accurate deep ball and threw for a lot more yards. In our division with our team we can make the playoffs with Orton... but if you expect to win a game in the playoffs Grossman gives us the best shot. No one is a Orton hater... just some of us arent Orton homers. yeah on the bench nursing an injury that put him out for the year on a non-contact play. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) Ok now take into account that Orton has had better recievers, O-Line, and an actual top running game..... and than consider in what 5 complete games of Grossman compared to 8 of Orton.... and Orton has only 100 more yards in 3 more games? Not 2 mention right now we have the best defense we have had for awhile giving Orton constantly good field position..... it's 6 career games. Don't count that against Orton. It is Grossman's fault that he can't take a hit without breaking his leg. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) I dont know how much of these people are die-hard Bears fans and the NFL in general.... but I do know that people I talk to.... the more casual fan usually likes Orton while the diehard one and the one who likes all football in general rather have Grossman in there. im diehard and Orton is better. Grossman will just have to try not to get injured while on the bench. -

For all the people who are saying that the Bears haven't won because of Orton they are right but they haven't won inspite of him either. They have won with him. Look at Big Ben last year. The Steelers didn't win because of him they won with him. THey won because they had a great run game and all he had to was manage the game and not make stupid mistakes. That is exactly what Orton is doing now. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) Also if you think TO was happy with McNabb, how'd u think he'd feel about Kyle Orton? I think he would be smart enough to realize that he would make Orton better. -

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) Do you really think he is listening to his agent now? Do you think his agent is telling him to act like this? The guy is borderline retarded. He signed a contract and now wants them to give him more money. TO will never change. his agent wanted him to make more money. His agent is the Scott Boras of football. His agent was behind the hold out in camp. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) Well considering he didnt lead the team to 1 scoring drive against Washington id say he lost us that game 2. The only TD we had was from a special teams fumble recovery and TJ run. And if we had a legit QB during that Browns game I bet we had a good chance of winning that one too... although some blame has to be put on the defense for giving up the TD's late although the 1 should of never even there if Orton didnt fumble. Guys Grossman is injury prone but when he is out there in like what 6 career games... only 5 when he has gone basicly the whole game he has thrown 200 plus yards like 3 times. Orton has gone over 200 once...... and against the Saints he almost lost us that game too. He had 2 int and a fumble. Not 2 mention if the refs didnt cally a ticky tack pass interference it would of been 3. Also when he deeply overthrew Muhsin that one play the Saints guy had an easy int but failed. Go watch the Saints game again... that was the 1st game I saw our recievers constantly getting open and beating their men and Orton had a horrible game and overthrew them all day long. He had a few nice ones ill give him that mostly the 2 to Muhsin... but his accuracy seems to be getting worse not better. He has had some major bumps in his career but Grossman is the more talented and I think if he is healthy gives our team the best chance to win. Think how bad Orton has actually been against all these lousy teams... now look ahead and see we face Carolina, Tampa, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh soon... imagine him against those teams. that was Peterson's fault. He ran into Orton. -

This shouldn't even be a debate. Orton has done about as well as somebody put into the situation he was put into. Besides the Cincy game what games has he really lost them. He isn't making very many stupid mistakes and is managing the game well. Orton is the future not Grossman. -
I have a question: How the hell was Three Kings not nominated for any Oscars. Sorry but this movie was 10 x better than any of those other films that got nominated. That is just a joke! Sorry but Three Kings should've gotten nominated for the following awards: Best Motion Picture Best Director: David O'Russell Best Actor: George Clooney or Mark Wahlberg. Best Supporting Actor: Ice Cube Best Supporting Actress: Nora Dunn(she was great) Best Original Screenplay And all of the technical awards.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Cato June is establishing himself as a very good linebacker. However I was/am very dissapointed in Tyrone Wheatley, Tim Biakabutuka, and Anthony Thomas. Thomas did rush for 1,000 yards a couple of times. -

QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) I think PSU is alright and equal to ND, however I do not believe that Bama is that good of a team, I would rank ND and OSU above Bama, If they played head to head. sorry PSU is a better team than Ohio State. What do they have to do get some respect?
