That is if Darth Walker doesn't turn them over to the Dark Side.
-
Yeah, they normally lose a game like this.

Eat s***, Indians!!! Here's to hoping our newfound success against the Central lasts!!! :gosox1:

Sox sweep the Twinkies in Minny? Can't believe I haven't woke up from this dream yet.
-
Except Rios has had a reputation for a WHILE now of simply not caring anymore. Can anyone MAKE him care again? Less likely than Dunn recovering, IMO.
-
Dunn, I'm convinced, is in some awkward mental state or is doing something different that has caused him to be this bad. NL to AL makes no difference, NO ONE who's as consistent a HR hitter as Dunn is (or any other player for that matter) just all of a sudden can't hit at all... not after tallying his numbers up. I still feel hopeful at some point during his tenure here he will find his magic again and turn it back around. Why? Because it's perfectly logical. Rios on the other hand? Not so much. We already know what the problem is with him and I doubt it changes anytime soon.

I'm sure you just worded that incorrectly or were being sarcastic, though.

I haven't been on the board much and I was on vacation when those trades take place and I have to ask: Edwin Jackson to Toronto... Toronto trades him and gets Rasmus? Why the hell didn't we just get Rasmus??? -
Fixed.

LOL funniest thing I've read in a while.

I never said I gave him NO credit. However you are giving him too much. You keep saying if we win that means it was good managing. I won't refreain from telling you flat-out that that's utterly ridiculous. I believe I've already (in my tenure here) gone through WAY MORE scenarios detailing his idiocy to you over the years... TONS OF THEM. It's pretty obvious a guy who would call a walk to a .145 hitter but not do so to a reigning MVP in the 8th inning with a 1 run lead, 2 outs and a base open is missing something upstairs... and this type of scenario is very common with Ozzie. You still don't get it. 2005 means nothing anymore. The Sox's WS title doesn't make him a great manager. If he has so much to do with the Sox winning, what about losing? They've been choking significantly ever since that year, greg. Good point. I guess I am just trying to convince myself there's some hope of him one day being logical about something.
-
No it isn't. Not to anyone who watched games that season. We caught lightning in a bottle. That team was not supposed to perform that well, not by a longshot. Look at teams like the Yankees. For a long time it didn't really matter who their manager was. They were just too good. Once the Sox came back to earth it became pretty obvious pretty quick that Ozzie was a dimwit. So simply winning, without taking any ACTUAL criteria into account, makes the manager masterful... no matter what. Piss-poor logic, greg. Sorry. You already tried to counter the idea we'd be better off without him by saying "He won us a WS title." So you're kinda contradicting yourself. I just think you don't know any better. Uh... no, we won't. You will, I'm sure... but not all of us.
-
You seem to mindlessly think because he was our manager in 2005 that he's a great manager, which is utterly ridiculous. That team was magic. Even Ozzie's bumbling couldn't stop the Sox from winning games that year. And again (since you didn't respond to my last post), 2005 does NOT give him a free pass. Six years later, you're still defending Ozzie on account of a World Series as if it grants him full immunity for the rest of his life with this organization. It doesn't, period. This shouldn't be hard to understand, greg.
-
My God, there's still some of you around here??? greg... 2005 was 6 damn years ago. This is not 2005 anymore. This whole attitude that Ozzie is entitled to being here simply because of that title is entirely illogical. I don't know what it will take for you to understand this.

The official "end of Ozzie soon?" thread
TheBigHurt replied to whitesoxbrian's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, because Joe Cowley's reports are usually very accurate. -
I don't disagree. However as long as we've had both coaches I think hitting has been overall a MUCH bigger issue than hitting. Besides, numerous "meh" pitchers have come here only to turn themselves into real names. What hitters have done that? I can't think of a single one off-hand. Quentin is about as close as it gets and for the most part that was simply one year.
-
Are you really trying to say one is relevant and the other is not? Would love some insight from the arguing side instead of just snide/empty comments and lapses of logic. Again, at the very least, attitudes/personalities matter and each individual person will have a different influence as a coach. This isn't a difficult concept.
-
Careful, careful! That might be a little too much logic for some people to handle! lol. Seriously, it amazes me to no end how people downplay the concept of personalities and attitudes as an epidemic. Your environment takes a big toll on you as a person yourself. This is pretty simple and shouldn't need to be explained to anybody.

And you still haven't addressed my point about Cooper. And who the hell is balming it *all* on Walker? Do you really have to be so dramatic to try to make a point? ALL of you people defending Walker keep preaching about a hitting coach apparently makes NOOOOOOO difference at all and has no effect on how guys hit, right? So then why are you guys so adamant about NOT firing Walker? This is entirely irrational. If it makes no difference, fire him and hire someone else. Something to potentially gain but NOTHING to lose. Also, by your claims, no coach matters at all and Cooper should get ZERO credit for ANYTHING in terms of our pitching staff. Correct? I feel I have to repeat this since you ignored it earlier. In any case, a hitting coach DOES make a difference. Personalities matter. People saying coaches make no difference at all is a gigantic "derp." Cool, then you'd have NO problem with firing Walker, as would anyone else using this (assumption-based) logic. The defense is as always: ignorance, cop-outs and excuses, OH MY! Hey, mods... is "obtuse" a word I can get away with or is that considered flaming/insult?
