QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2013 -> 06:12 PM) I feel he just didn't want to take the blame for taking him out if he was able to still walk. I would rather take the blame for that as opposed to ruining the franchise' knee

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 6, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) Yeah, how long will this thing last? I think it depends on how long that thing is *rimshot*

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 6, 2013 -> 07:41 AM) Christian Ponder just married Michelle Beadle. No reason he should have to strain his triceps anymore. No he just married Samantha Steele. But the point stands

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 5, 2013 -> 08:36 PM) Kinda like last time they faced off in NE? Yup

The Texans better find that extra gear, because the Patriots will tear them apart next week if they play like that again.

KEVIN. LOVE. BROKEN. HAND. AGAIN.

The question is, if Trestman had all this great experience with so many people in different levels, then why is he only getting his first shot at HC now? Seems strange that it has gone this long.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 5, 2013 -> 01:44 PM) I'm actually 2 weeks clean lol. I don't see why not, I'm not saying thats the numbers our guy will put up, that's the numbers the SF guys put up. They had that one monster target in Rice, we have Marshall, they utilized the RB in the passing game, I think Forte is one of the best receiving RBs in the game, they used the FB in the passing game as well, I think Rodriguez can effectively fill that role. I know Cutlers not Young, and calling him Young Lite behind the current line is silly, but behind a good line I don't think "Young Lite" is that big of a stretch. The 02 Raiders had Garner catching 91 passes. Let's just say I like the way he gets the RB involved. I'm going to say you are largely overstating his impact on San Fran and believing he is going to turn this Bears offense into the 95 49ers offense is pissing into the wind.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 5, 2013 -> 01:28 PM) I want him. Grab a TE and turn this offense into the 95 9ers. Cutler as Young Lite Marshall as Rice (122 Rec 1800 yards 15 TDs) Forte as Loville (87 Receptions as an RB, Forte is a fantastic receiver) Rodriguez as Floyd (47 Rec as a fullback) I am just going to assume you are as high as a kite

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 5, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) I do have a friend of a friend where I get infrequent info but he was asked if the Sox roster is pretty much set for spring training and was told not a chance. It is not earth shattering news and a huge scoop. It's more bernsteinesque, but we shouldn't be arguing current roster because that is going to change in the next few weeks. And I have no idea what names are on their way out or what is coming in. i would say more Boers-esque, but it is still funny

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 5, 2013 -> 12:16 PM) Looking at his wiki page he looks like a great offensive mind. Wonder why he's never had a HC gig. So he's also got a connection to Jay. He was also the OC under Gruden when Gannon was the MVP. and he's got a book called "PERSEVERANCE: Life Lessons on Leadership and Teamwork" He could turn out to be a good hire. sold

Two bad turnovers for Hinrich actually. The first one he got lucky because lebron stepped on the line

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) And she is Tebowing. Under a shamrock! I get it now! Shamrock McElroy, Tebow(ing) wife wearing a Sanchez jersey! Translation: Worst tattoos EVER!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) You just don't get the Bills. They ALWAYS get Bears retreads. First they had Jauron, then they had Wannestedt on as an assistant last year and DC this year. Lovie makes perfect chronological sense. Yea it does make sense. Maybe next year you will get some "Rex is my Quarterback"

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 03:14 PM) Cutler lover Lovie wanter

I dont know what else to say. I havent even been defending Cutler, said nothing about his line excuses, said he has played s***ty against the pack, acknowledged the George comparison. CUTLER HAS NOT BEEN UP TO SNUFF.

QUOTE (Lamar Johnson 23 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 02:57 PM) At least someone seems to get my point. I don't advocate spending for the sake of spending, but, if your team has holes, and there are available players out there that can fill those holes, IMO ownership has to take a hard look at these "hole fillers" and do what it has to do to get them. I don't worry about "prospects", most never work out anyway. I don't care about 5-10 years down the road; I'm more interested in the 2013-2016. Yes you do. You have been doing it all offseason

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 02:54 PM) George 1 playoff victory in 10 seasons, Cutler 1 playoff victory in 7 with a new coach and new OC coming. As for his passer rating, he's never been in the top 10 in any season. 20th this year, 16th last year, 11th in 2010, 21st in 2009, 16th in 2008 and 12th in 2007. There's enough there to say he's been average. He may be at a little lower end, but George's career, when you take everything into consideration, probably is considered average. Did i not say that he is more Jeff George? What else do you want? A newspaper editorial taking Cutler to task? Would you like me to show up to camp next season to heckle him? A public hanging in town square?
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 02:13 PM) Given the fact that Jeff George is known universally as a career failure and the fact that those numbers aren't exactly super-duper far apart is terrifying. The winning percentage is far enough apart. So there is that

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) A good majority of Bears fans make excuses for him, and still think he's a franchise QB. He isn't one yet. You can't dig up one thread on Soxtalk and say that is the majority opinion for Cutler's 4 years in Chicago. When he was acquired, people thought he was the Messiah. When some said back then he was Jeff George, people said no way. So far, he's been Jeff George. Well if we cant dig up a thread with actual stated opinions, you cant just say "people said" this and that. Fine, he has been Jeff George. That does not mean he was coddled at all

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 01:05 PM) Fans know far more about football than Terry Bradshaw or Boomer Esiason. Especially about what it takes to play QB. Yeah, but his demeanor is ripped far more than his play is, especially by Boomer. Cutler definitely has his faults, he has been piss poor against the Packers since he donned a Bears uniform, and he has gotten plenty of flak for his faults sometimes moreso because of his attitude. I think that is where it gets tricky, there are people that pile on(mostly called into the score and ESPN1000) that get so worked up over his facial expressions and their assumptions about what he is doing on the sideline, and then the people that defend him seem to go overboard because they know that while he can have one of those godawful 4 INT games, he isnt nearly as bad as the people that loathe Cutlerface say he is. But to say that people in this area coddle him is totally false. Dont you remember the uproar when he shoved Webb after Webb was a turnstile in Green Bay?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 12:47 PM) (Honestly, yes he probably is. The cap hit to cut him is something like >$10 million this year). (why in parentheses)? (seems mysterious)

I think Bates is almost assuredly staying. That guy is Marshall and Cutlers go-to

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 12:19 PM) Is there something I'm not aware of? Just how awesome Ben Davis was and how revered he is around these parts
