  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) This past week has to be the worst in White Sox baseball for the whole year. We need to get it together. Ozzie should do something wacky and just put in all the bench players the next game and allow rest for our starters. There is no crying in baseball. Dont make me come back there and smack you like a b****.
  2. DJ has to be the biggest jinx in the history of all jinxes. I swear everytime something goes right, he remarks about it and the very next pitch its over. Luisa can go with for the ride for any trade consummated by the end of the week, they have my approval. I dont feel all that bad, because Mike Sweeney did the same thing to the Twins last week. I think he had nine consecutive hits or something crazy. I am curious as to how god-like he would be if he was able to stay injury free. I dont think I have seen a more dangerous hitter than Sweeney when he is healthy, there isnt any pitch he wont foul off to get to the pitch he wants to hit.
  3. This is where I think that AJ is a better game-caller. I think he is much better at out-thinking hitters in crunch time.
  4. anyone want to trade Politte now?
  5. QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Was it a throwing error or a missed grounder? Routine play or a tough chance? Nope, Nope, yep, Nope
  6. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Carl has a .759 OPS. How many teams in baseball have a #3 hitter with a lower OPS? I would venture to say none. I think his less than regular playing time has an effect on all of his numbers. Before Thomas came back, Carl was having a pretty good year.
  7. On the replay, was it out?
  8. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Did you see the series this past weekend. Won two games and scared the crap out me (us?) in another. He is an enigma but if pay a chunck...... Yeah, I saw him. Do you think if he was the centerpiece of the White Sox offense that it would score more? The Red Sox order is a tough out, top to bottom. He isnt really the featured hitter, as he would be in Chicago. Ortiz, Ramirez, Varitek and Nixon is much scarier than Rowand, Ramirez, Pierzinski and Dye, no matter how you spin it. Plus, the White Sox rely on good defense, two words that should never go in a sentence with Manny Ramirez. Pods may not be a great defensive OF, but he makes alot of plays with his speed that would skip past Ramirez on two hops. Ramirez is a GREAT hitter, but I dont think he would fit and I think corpseball would return full speed ahead.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) I don't mind him,but I wish they would have given Defalco the job. Maybe Defalco had to choose between pre and post game for Sox, or a daily 9-12 sports talk show. that would be an easy choice for me.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) If the bill is hooked, you probably have a double-crested cormorant. If the bill is spear-shaped, it could be an anhinga (aka "snakebird"). Anhingas are rarely seen that far north, but there arre rare sightings as far up as Wisconsin. DC cormorants breed as far up as Alaska nd Nova Scotia, so I'd say that is more likely your bird. pix: double-crested cormorant, note the hooked bill anhinga - longer neck and spear-like bill Let me know if this was any help. Im thinking its the DC cormorant. It is definitely one of those two birds. I thought cormorants were more based in southern states, so i automatically ruled them out in my head. My grandfather used to tell me about them being all over when he lived in florida. Thanks for the help flaxx
  11. They can keep him, his contract, and his butchers glove. he certainly moves the team back into the corpseball realm.

There has been this waterfowl that I have seen near my work for the past 3 months, and it has been driving me crazy trying to figure out what it is. I visited as many websites(ntl audobon society, DNR, etc.) and have not found anything remotely near what I am seeing. Black waterfowl pointed beak dives underwater repeatedly(obviously to catch fish) a crest or ruffle of feathers around the head/neck I used to spend my summers in Wisconsin/Michigan, so I am pretty familiar with what a loon is and what it looks like, and this is NOT it. If anyone could help me, it would help me go towards sanity.....maybe.
  13. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) Baez would be a minimal improvement on the team and would have a minimal impact in the playoffs. Baez is getting the job done on a pretty bad team, that has to be taken into some sort of measure. 45.1 innings, 3.18 ERA, 36 K, 21 BB, 19 Sv, 42 H, 5 HR, OPP BA .244 compared to the guy we all know aint getting it done, Luis Vizcaino 49 innings, 3.86 ERA, 27 K, 22 BB, 0 Sv, 51 H, 6 HR, OPP BA .270

Rome loves AJ, he always did. AJ and another Twins player(I think it was Kielty) filled in for Rome 2 years ago and basically ripped on the Sox for about 2 of their 4 hours, but they were really funny and didnt shame themselves.
  15. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) he did get to a world series tho True, he built that house up quick. But he sure burned it down twice as quick. There is a reason he isnt a GM at this point, Im not sure any owner would trust Steve Phillips with his money.
  16. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) I think we have enough for Overbay/burnett but not enough for Huff/Burnett The only reason for that is because Chuck Lamarr is the worst GM in the league when it comes to making deals. He overprices his players, and gets nothign for them when they walk.
  17. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) As I posted in another thread, Milwaukee isn't going to trade Overbay this season. They are going to wait until the offseason before they make a move with him. I dont know about that, Prince Fielder showed them he could hit major league pitching, and getting him a half season in the bigs wouldnt hurt him at all. Isnt Overbay a free agent after this season? If so, Milwaukee would be wise to move him now so they can get something for him.
  18. this would make me extremely happy.
  19. QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) I know you might have posted all of this somewhat sarcastically, but it was interesting stuff. I only knew Frank had a bad ankle, now I know more and I thank you. No problem. I wasnt trying to be really sarcastic, I figured everyone had taken care of that for me. Alot of people dont really grasp how bad of an injury Thomas had(or still has), and figure its as simple as waiting for the ankle to heal. That isnt close to the truth, he could break the same bone over again if he puts pressure on the right part of his foot. He has screws in his ankle that wont come out. I wouldnt think you would be able to fake swelling in the ankle, or I wouldnt think that he would can the season because he doesnt feel like he is getting good ABs.
  20. Ok Sweatpants, from what I understand is that Frank thomas broke his navicular bone in his ankle. Here is a website showing you what that bone is, and what it is used for. http://www.arthroscopy.com/sp09012.htm Here is some more info: http://www.emedicine.com/sports/topic85.htm Tell me something, do you think Frank Thomas would just fake an injury on a year like the Sox are having? Conversely, looking at the nature of the injury and the subsequent surgery, isnt it possible that Thomas could re-injure the foot very easily and irritate the injury often?
  21. He probably strained the muscle under his ribcage or his side abdominal with that homerun swing. He really golfed for that ball, and also had to pull his hands way in to hit it. I was thinking when they showed the replay that it looked kind of painful
  22. QUOTE(WSox30 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) he was in paris He was? I thought he has been doing PTI for the last month. I guess I didnt realize where he was.
  23. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) Speaking of idiots, I haven't heard anything about Moronatti in ages (I'm not complaining). Is he still around? He has been bashing the Cubs for the last month, and writing feelgood interest pieces on Lance Armstrong and the Olympics. You cant complain about something that isnt going wrong.
  24. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) He is...I had no idea who he even was aside from referring to him as "that jackass I once heard on the radio". He's a dumbass, just listen to him...he's your typical know it all "expert" who is almost always wrong. this guy reminds me of JT the Brick. Nothing intelligent to say, just spouting off other peoples opinions, trying to piss off fans of a certain team to get some good angry phone calls. You just have to ignore him, but if he gets caught with his foot in the mouth(like JT did about the Red Sox last year and the raiders the year before) you gotta call him out BIGTIME. Those are the best days ever.
  25. He just said that if the Sox win the world series, he will come to Chi-town to let the local media berate him.
