  1. Waivers is a 2 day process or a 3 day process?
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) I'd be willing to bet Griffey already has or soon will pass through waivers. How is it known that a player is placed on waivers? Is there a formal letter sent to team offices around the league? is it a wire that the public can access?
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) Slim and none. Slim just left town. Do you think another team would block it before it reached the White Sox, or do you think it wont go down for another reason. I was in utter disbelief that Larry Walker ended up on the Cardinals last year, Im wondering if a similar situation could arise.
  4. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) I don't believe the reports, any of them. Cinci needs arms, not Chris Young. Why would they trade for Young when they would already have an OF of Dunn, Kearns and Pena? With Griffey gone they could easily afford to resign Dunn. I'm willing to bet that the prospect package would have included a Tracey or McCarthy over Young. Well if they are still going to try and get rid of Dunn, and Casey is rumored to be on the way out because of lack of production and hefty contract, then Young and Rogo make sense.
  5. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) Do you know of a site that gives AAA comparables? I'll be happy to make the comparisons. Does it matter? You are trying to say that Brandon McCarthy is good because of a fact that you cannot compare to a major leaguer. Then you compare that stat to a major leaguers stat. The argument is moot. You can look around the minors for K/BB ratios and K/9 ratios that compare or are worse than BMACs, but in the end it doesnt matter because the minors are not even close to the majors.
  6. There should eb something cruel and unusual thought up for people who treat animals this way. What a horrible senseless thing for anyone to do.
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) Keep him. Keep who?
  8. You guys gotta learn to ignore the morons. They are everywhere and will continue to post stupidity. Dont let them bring you to their level. There is no real arguments there, those guys arent arguing numbers or statistics or performance, they are talking about personal opinions. there is no argument for personal opinions, only more opinions.
  9. QUOTE(GBlum## @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Which is why they dealt him after hitting .305 with 54 steals. LOL, in the MINORS. Willie has yet to come close to duplicating those numbers.
  10. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) this sucks hardcore Welcome to the darkside. It is beautiful here, and we will accept you and forgive you for your past discrepensies and allegiances

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) So we're looking at Larry Walker, Randall Simon, and the Crimedog? That'd be sweet if this were 1995. It kind of seems like no-names and older guys with bad contracts are the ones that make it through. The question is wether they made an impact on their respective playoff bound teams. Seeing as McGriff and Walker went to the WS, and Simon came within 6 outs of going to the WS, I would say they were good acquisitions.

People would rather blame the DH for the problem rather than the real culprit, the Umpires trying to take over the game. Carmen and Silvy touched on this subject this morning, and mentioned that the umpires will do whatever they can to stop confrontation, except when it comes to the batter waving his hand at a pitcher for merely coming inside on him. Batters are now dictating the strike zone, not the umpires, and for some reason the pitchers are getting the brunt of the punishment. Warnings are arbitrary at best, and when they are given, then pitchers can be ejected for barely brushing a batters jersey on an inside pitch. Yet a batter can stand there and talk smack to a pitcher for coming inside on him no matter what. The umpires need to realize that their job is not policing the game, and let the players police themselves. Of course, if an umpire sees an escalating situation, he should do what he can to diffuse it, but yesterday was a disgrace. Iguchi and Pierzinski were drilled, and Surhoff got off easy, Yet buehrle was ejected. No warnings, just a split second decision. If Buehrle gets any sort of fine, Im gonna be really pissed.

I would have to say that the Cubs picking up the sausage killer was pretty big. Not a big name, but he had a big impact
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) All staged. If I was so wasted that none of that woke me up, I'd probably need a trip to the ER....and a new group of friends. I doubt it was staged. You never had one of those friends that passed out THAT hard LMB? It seemed like every party we had there was one guy who had to be dragged out by his friends, never waking up. That was me one time too.

The only advice I can give you is that "Saving Silverman" is hilarious. Other than that, I dont know much about Neil.
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) If you played for the team at any point that season, yes, you get a ring. Then why did the Red Sox vote wether or not Nomar deserved a ring last year?
  17. Wouldnt you want to blame Pohlad more than Ryan?
  18. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) Are you talking about 4 game sweep or sweep against Orioles? cause we swept Cleveland all 4 after all star break and we swept the Yankees all 4 in June 2000. Not sure about Orioles. I was talking about a 4 game sweep in Baltimore. I knew that the Sox hadnt done it in Cleveland since 1942 until they did it 2 weeks ago.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) If the Sox go 3-55 the rest of the season, Steve Phillips' prediction of a 72-90 season will be correct. LMAO
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) Wow, 4 game sweep of the O's, in Maryland?? Huge series Sox. I wonder when the last time was that the Sox did that, it has to be a while.
  21. QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Should the Sox win the World Series, is Shingo entitled for a ring? I wish he could. lets not put the cart before the horse.
  22. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Canseco's on the Surreal Life and contemplating sex with that ice queen Janice Dickinson... he has no right to laugh at anyone. That show is hilarious. Except I had no idea that Bronson Pinchot was such a perv.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) Headline: Palmeiro suspended for boner medication. "It was my anniversary" Have you seen his wife? It would be worth the suspension
  24. How often is it that a team starts against the same pitcher in a 4 game series in the 2nd and 4th game. That has to be in one of Jayson Starks Wild Pitches this week.
  25. Come on man, I really wanted to go to Baltimore before I read this!
