I dont really see a direct correlation between fan support and raise in payroll. Jerry makes decisions on payroll with a board, not by himself. They decide before the season where the payroll should be set at, and it really hasnt changed in the past 3 years. So many factors and different sources of money go into payroll, saying "Everyone go to more games, we would have signed Tejada if you went to more games two years ago..." is absolutely ridiculous. The Sox would have had an equal chance of signing "studs" if you were harping on everyone on this site about not buying Sox merchandise. Attendance is what it is. People are fickle, and the media has convinced people that the Southside is scary and only "hardcore" fans are brave enough to venture to 35th and Shields. Now, while i dont necassarily buy Jabroni's point saying "you cant b**** until you get your ass in a seat", I cannot dismiss that there is a small point there. People fly across country to go to Cubs games. Thats just a fact. The Cubs are a national team. It isnt so with the Sox, they are a Chicago team. Chicago still is having a strange love affair with the Cubs, but the affair has turned into short booty-calls. Unless Dusty takes this team to the playoffs, it could be a little while before they compete again. Attendance will fluctuate, provided the Sox keep up their end of the bargain and keep winning. For now, I cannot attend games. Sadly, my life consists of working and watching my 4 year old daughter. I do my part by paying my cable bill, to which a small portion goes to comcast, to which a small portion goes to the licensing and television agreement that the Sox have with comcast. Does that make you happy? My two cents from my cable bill this month goes to "studs". Jerry should be thrilled.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) No green.. from the series in Detroit last year when ELo was traded until about mid November Ben was the starting catcher for the '05 squad. AJ was a blessing... thank God we got him. I know, I still find the notion of Ben Davis being the starting catcher green-worthy.
-
QUOTE(marsh @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) Ben Davis WILL BE the starting catcher for the Sox. come on Marsh, where is the green?
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) and since you know Kenny so well that you say we wont make this trade, then I guess its true, man this would have been a shorter debate if you would have told us the truth ealier, where have you been all my life. :headshake OOOOh, rock is gettin fiesty!

QUOTE(Soxaholic @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) I'll take this team--Paulie included--over grass-is-greener experiments and trade rumors that get us laughed at nationally. ____________________________________________ WE.GOT.FRANK. Dammit, I knew everyone was going to start laughing at us. Now what do we do? Why are we getting laughed at again?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) ahahahahah where did you even get the number 141 from???? especially since Konerko hasnt cracked either 120 or 141 RBIs either.....

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Where is that Tribe fan that was trolling around screaming that the Indians were gonna kick our asses this year...?? Wasnt that John Kruk?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Per Rotoworld According to the Indians, Juan Gonzalez's hamstring tore completely off the bone as he ran to first base during his 2005 debut. ''Juan might be out up to three months,'' trainer Lonnie Soloff said. ''This is an uncommon injury in baseball players. Right now, it's quite swollen and sore. We'll re-examine him in two weeks after the pain and swelling subside. A determination on when he can return to play will be made then.'' Jun. 3 - 5:48 am what, was my report not good enough rock?

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) What happened to the rivalry with the hated tribe? Shame on you, so called Sox fans I am on the "one game at a time" plan. I despise whoever we play, that night(or day), and dont worry about who is coming up. I think the Sox got away from this type of thinking in the past few weeks.
