  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) Then how did it happen in Detroit? Ilitch spent the money, built a winner...and then the fans started showing up and became loyal customers. They didn't come out first and buy season ticket packages after having historically some of the worst seasons in franchise history, THEN he authorized spending the money. So we should say it could never happen with the Reinsdorf family still in charge of the team. That's all fine and good, maybe 17-18 franchises work in that same fashion. The other teams prioritize winning first, budgets second. They traded away their top 5 prospects for a once in a generation hitting talent.

For the first time since I started fostering dogs, we took in a mother dog with puppies. While it has been interesting and the puppies are really cute, holy s*** is it a lot of work.
  4. Preacher is....ultra violent. I really like Cassidy, even though i cant really tell what his angle is yet
  5. QUOTE (Coach @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 06:11 AM) Over the weekend, a Sox reporter stated Erik Johnson will someday be a good pitcher but just not on the White Sox. I asked him why. I am still waiting for an answer. Anyone want to comment? Please feel free. I dont agree with the reporter, but i suppose the reasoning would be that he gets a clean slate with a new team that believes in him. My problem with him is the Sox believed in him and gave him multiple chances that he just couldnt do anything with, and his stuff just disappeared. If he finds his velocity again, maybe he will be a good pitcher. But if he is still throwing his flat fastball 89-91, with mediocre control, he isnt gonna be much of anything.
  6. I thought McShane had a bigger character role. Good episode though, I really enjoyed it
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) With the sheer amount of wear and tear on his body since 2006, it's remarkable both Verlander and Felix Hernandez are still as effective as they are at this point. The same thing is happening with James Shields. When you throw over 200 innings (unless you're Mark Buehrle) for 9 consecutive seasons, it's going to keep eroding your stuff. It was inevitable physically, except almost no pitcher can make adjustments in their mid to late 30's and emulate Bartolo Colon in reinventing themselves, especially not keeping themselves in tip top physical condition. A gradual decline, sure, but that core muscle injury was a workout injury. That isn't something you can count on as inevitable
  8. I wonder where Verlander would be right now had he not injured his core muscle(s?) a few years ago. It very obviously changed things, it still is a mystery exactly what happened but I bet calisthenics with Kate was the cause.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) Did the same thing with emission test notices for cars. Waited 45 minutes in line at the Schaumburg emissions place for a 2 minute check. Unreal. That place is a madhouse. I went on a Tuesday at 10 am once and waited an hour
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) Because Robin is a f***ing, incoherent moron that doesn't care to look at matchups or statistics when creating a lineup. /thread You need to simmer down lately, black cloud
  11. Well coats bounced back nicely
  12. Sharks get their W
  13. It was impressive that he hung on, his head snapped back after the collision. I'm sure he was on another planet for a little while
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 05:34 PM) Yeah, forgot Eaton wasn't in CF. Now Albers hurt in slippery conditions. Albers isnt hurt
  15. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 05:28 PM) Please answer me the question of just how sale not being sgarpvtoday is Robin's fault? I don't know how to answer that
  16. Not so exciting that this game is official anymore, eh Hawk?
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 04:47 PM) Abreu constantly getting jammed by inside and low heat...can't turn on it yet. Sale hasn't been using his best fastball for the last 2-3 games. Has been topping out closer to 94-95 than his customary 97-98 mph for big situations. That's been all season, dude
  18. So Miggy Cabrera is fine?
  19. How many visits to the mound do they get?
  20. What the f***, shuck
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) That's actually pretty impressive, that he could pick up on that with Beckham, Viciedo, Brian Anderson and Josh Fields while being stone-cold drunk half the time. He wasn't drunk at the park during work time, Caulfield. It wasn't like he was managing trashed
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 05:40 PM) Because they prefer to wait until he cools off...bring him up...then they argue they were justified in not bringing him up because he wasn't ready? The same thing happened with Viciedo one year, Ozzie wanted to keep Juan Pierre in an everyday role "because he worked harder than everyone else on the team and was universally-liked and admired for his career achievements." And at least TIMO PEREZ could hit K-ROD!!! Or, maybe Ozzie saw before anyone else that Viciedo was incapable of adjusting to major league pitching.
  23. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) So why aren't we saying that Cleveland isn't going to win the division or doesn't deserve to win the division because they are 2-4 against the Twins? Why not say that the Royals don't deserve it if they are going to go 1-3 against the Indians thus far? Or 1-3 against the under .500 Yanks and 0-3 against the last place Angels? The Indians and Royals aren't exactly juggernauts, here. Yes, the Royals are playing much better of late, but both teams have had wildly inconsistent stretches and shown plenty of weaknesses. So have the Sox. I'm call it about even in early June. I hope you're being hyperbolic when you say the White Sox absolutely need to win a series in Detroit this weekend. They may win 3, they may lose 3, they may win or lose 2. It will likely have little bearing on the strategy or the overall standings. No one is going to run away and hide with this division. The composition of this team will drastically change WHEN (not if) the front office acquires players to make their run later this summer. It's likely we won't have the same rotation, daily lineup, or bench. We will likely be much improved, if we can remain injury free. So yes, we will have a much better time beating the Royals and Indians when we are actually sporting a Major League Designated hitter, a deeper bench, and a more seasoned rotation. Additionally, Rodon and Saladino are good examples of players that are apparently benefiting from seasoning on the job, and may be better as we go on. Wouldn't you agree? Would you say that they might be more reliable major league pieces in September than they were in April? Because there are so many teams in the AL that are still in it, it's likely that the White Sox will not acquire all of their pieces until potentially late July or early August, when some teams finally give up. I think I'll wait until then to start proclaiming certain series "must win" Caulfield? No, never
