  1. I wish they would have removed Belisario
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 09:15 PM) I haven't seen them do it this season either. That's because nobody does it
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 09:12 PM) I don't care about what's fair or what's not, the reliever will, by statistics, have a higher chance of getting the batter out than the worn-down starter. If that was true then why don't other managers do it? Tell me, when is the last time you saw a manager pull a pitcher after throwing a second ball? I haven't seen it once this season
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 09:09 PM) The next pitcher might not walk him; I'd rather have a fresh arm in who can actually throw a strike rather than a tired starter who will almost definitely walk him. You have no idea if either the starter or replacement will walk or strike him out, but it isn't fair to the next pitcher to only allow him one pitch outside of the zone There is a reason managers don't do it
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 09:04 PM) Never been a fan of waiting until the end of the AB to bring in a reliever. If the first two pitches were nowhere close and it's 2-0, don't wait for him to walk the guy and just call the 'pen. Why should the next pitcher be responsible for that walk?
  6. Home runs are not coming easy tonite
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 08:14 PM) Yes, John Cena will be the Shield member tonight. Yea remember when that happened with Nexus. It wasn't cool then either
  8. Would you guys relax about Abreu? He is streaky, good and bad. He had like a 1/27 streak after his hot start of the season, then broke out of it. It happens, get used to it
  9. WHY IS EVERYONE RESPONDING TO TMAR LIKE HE IS FOR REALSIES?!?!?
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) Goff has been in Atlanta on his own show for over a year now. Yea, he is done in Atlanta. Hosting a Sirius/XM radio show called Off The Dribble
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 01:59 PM) The worst part is that we can argue about this until we're long of tooth, but in the end, neither side is probably right. It reminds me of one of the times Dewey Cox goes to rehab - it seems like we need more guns AND we need less guns. show me your long tooth. i want proof
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 01:58 PM) According to sescoops.com, Daniel Bryan will not be cleared in time to compete at the June 29th WWE Money in the Bank PPV. Bryan was reportedly given the news backstage this afternoon by WWE doctors. Obviously nothing is official until the WWE announces it, but sescoops.com has a good track record. Their source is the same one that revealed Bryan's concussion back in January and also was the one that revealed that he would be needing neck surgery. Do NOT f*** with the neck. Bryan needs to stay off tv until his neck is healed
  13. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 01:10 PM) I'm pretty sure that rift only exists on Soxtalk KW was pretty open about not wanting to deal with him. Pretty sure it was over the Arod negotiations
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 12:08 PM) Only 21% of the people are incredibly stupid. I think this country is making some progress! I believe those 21 percent live in SoCal
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 11:51 AM) Didn't Petricka come in to face Pujols? yep
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) That's not even remotely close to enough of a sample to be predictive. Hey, Robin Ventura bad and those advanced statistics prove it out
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 11:35 AM) Just like your non-response about any area of managing that Ventura would be considered among/st the Top 5-10 in the game at ??? I gave statistical reinforcement for my answer, and covered both bases of argument. More than anything, gut/intuition/logic said Putnam was better to use against Hamilton than Petricka. Oh, you mean after you named 10 ex sox players because thats what you love to do. Please, show me this statistical reinforcement QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 11:35 AM) Besides, how can I cite eye test when I've never actually WATCHED/SEEN Petricka or Putnam pitch this entire season????? and this is the absolute gold nugget here. I absolutely love when you criticize players and managers for everything from body language to fundamentals, and you NEVER ACTUALLY WATCH THE GAMES
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) Not to mention he completely ignores the fact that violent crime is down over the past 3 decades, even AFTER I showed him proof. When it comes to climate change, evidence good, when it comes to actual crime statistics, evidence bad. you should really read up on who you are arguing with. lol
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 11:19 AM) Answered. And the typical response will be "small sample size," which will lead to a discussion that goes around and around and around. If Petricka's really our 2nd best reliever, then he would be the one used every single time in the 8th inning to get the ball to Belisario. (Note, yes, there are exceptions...where you use your BEST reliever in almost any situation between the 5th and 8th to get outs in key leverage situations, but that's not how Ventura uses his bullpen...and going by that argument, Webb still has a lot more dynamic stuff than Petricka...or are we now arguing that Petricka's surpassed Webb as well as the best relief pitcher on the team in high leverage situations?) What a terrible non response after asserting that Petricka was our 4th best reliever. The carousel continues because of you. You just dismissed eye test and ERA because of advanced statistics, and in the very next post afterwards you basically are citing eye test. Good job
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) ERA's aren't the be-all, end-all when judging relievers. What happened to more advanced statistics??? Because Maikel Cleto has been used in similar situations this season and the same rationale was used for it...but his ERA is so low!!! The eyeball test, WHIP, anything would tell you he was right on the edge of a cliff nearly every single time out, other than one really nice inning against the heart of the Rockies' order in COL. Good question, what are they? Why should it have been Putnam instead of Petricka?
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) Well, this is already a loss thanks to Kyyle starting the game thread, THANKS JERK I figured my luck wasnt any better or worse than anyone elses. Except yours, because you never make game threads BECAUSE YER SCARED.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 08:34 AM) It might as well be. Isn't that game like 8 years into development? Maybe I'm thinking of another game, but I could have sworn they were marketing that as a PS3 exclusive for a while. edit: Yep, 7 years. Ridiculous. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Guardian The funny thing is, usually when games go that long in development, they are terrible
