  1. Eric Murphy spurns Duke, and chooses Florida. Coach K. has swung and missed at a lot of his top targets lately.
  2. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 16, 2008 -> 10:39 PM) I don't mind, I know most on here could care less if UNC wins. Couple of great wins tonight for me, UNC sneaks by again and Texas Tech blows out A&M. Another nailbiter on the road in the ACC for Carolina. First win at G. Tech for Roy in the last 5 trips. Danny Green came up big on that last defensive stop. Ole Miss takes out Florida tonight as well, nice win for the Rebels.
  3. UNC goes to Atlanta tonight to face a mediocre Georgia Tech squad. My Tarheels have struggled the past few years at G. Tech, hopefully they can avoid any such problems this year.
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 15, 2008 -> 11:11 PM) There is a thing called Google you know.Well, being a Sox website I'm sure you know who I am referring to even if the spelling is incorrect. Screw google!
  5. Graf. seemed to be a choke artist. He was o.k. for the most part but would make terrible mistakes in key spots. The Cub game where he failed to remember that a force out was not in order so he never applied the tag at third, was after he blew a perfectly called squeeze play by fouling off a pitch right down the middle for him to get down, which would have ended the game. He was normally a solid defender, but seemed to get the "yips" late in games as well. Hey I loved him with the Red Sox though, that a boy Graf, that's the Tony G. I remember; "NOW MAKE 'EM PAY GOOCH!" The "milkman" was alright, he did seem fat and out of shape, maybe that's why he turned some people off. Gload I've already said what I disliked about him.
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 15, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) No hating on the Gload!!! Ross was underutilized. I think he was overvalued by a fair amount of Sox fans which lead me to dislike him. He seemed to think he was underutilized as well, which didn't help with me. Screw him I'm glad he was sent packing. A fringe utility type guy who thought he was more then that, and tricked some fans into thinking the same.
  7. Jerry Dybzinski(spelling?) Tony Graffinino (spelling?) Jaime Navarro Ross Gload Jose Paniagua (spelling?) Harry Chappas Seems like I didn't care for a lot of guys whose names I can't spell.
  8. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 14, 2008 -> 10:00 PM) KU kills OU, god were good. I've got to give you credit, Kansas looks like a machine.
  9. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 14, 2008 -> 01:19 PM) Predict the Big Ten finish...Let's see what everyone thinks. 1. Wisconsin (14-4) *Losses: @Purdue, @IU, vs.MSU, +1 slip NOTE: WIS does not play @ MSU 1. Indiana (14-4) *Losses: @WIS, @OSU, @MSU, +1 slip 3. Michigan State (13-5) *Losses: @IU, @WIS, @OSU, +1 slip (already lost to Iowa somehow...) 4. Ohio State (12-6) 5. Purdue (11-7) 6. Illinois (10-8) 7. Minnesota (9-9) 8. Penn State (6-12) 9. Iowa (5-13) 10. Michigan (5-13) 11. Northwestern (2-16) Indiana, & Michigan State above Wisconsin. Purdue, Ohio State and Minnesota fighting at the next level to get into the NCAA. The bottom 5 all horses*** fighting to stay out of the basement, well below .500!
  10. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 14, 2008 -> 10:12 AM) Quintrell Thomas was the better on that squad featuring Strickland. Dexter is a top ten type guy in his class with both point & two guard ability he is a great addition to the 3 bigs from last week (Wear twins & Henson). If you are more impressed with Thomas, he seems to be a good one also then. I'm ecstatic with Dexter, coupled with the bigs mentioned earlier, plus Marshall & Bullock for 2010. Davis, Zeller, (Drew, who may have trouble holding a spot ) next year. It has been a spectatular year . If Ellington, Lawson, Hansbrough all go on to the NBA early like May, Felton, McCants. & Williams did, hopefully it will be with another national championship, and the next great groups seem to be in place.
  11. WOW! Now Dexter Strickland commits to UNC. This has been an amazing stretch for the Tarheels. Incredible two week span . Now all Tarheel eyes are on Dominic Cheek, but with the studs already in the fold I think Cheek may shy away from his dream school, as I've heard that he is 100% certain that he wants to be 1 and done before entering the NBA draft. He may want to go somewhere that he can be featured at for that year. Villanova seems to be a place where he could be the go to guy as a frosh. In any event Roy is getting it done!! The future looks great.
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) SLU scored 20 points last night. We lost to SLU last month. That makes me feel good. Majerus said our team has issues that's why we are practiceing Friday. . That is an understatement big Rick, hell you can eat more white castles in one sitting then your team scored all night.
  13. UCLA bounces back from losing the Wear twins, and gets Reeves Nelson to stay at home and commit.
  14. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 10:17 AM) You are a NC fan, yet you fail to spell CHAPEL Hill right in both posts. Come on, LOL. Your right there's your E. I'm just very excited at this amazing run by Roy in his recruiting. I see Bullock is ranked as high as the #1 2 guard for 2010; that will make a great tandem with Marshall at the point. Couple that with Henson and the Wear twins for next season, and it's been a HUGE couple of weeks for "Blue Heaven". Hopefully Strickland will verbal soon as well and make it just about perfect!!
  15. Reggie Bullock has confirmed with two sources that he will officially announce his verbal with North Carolina tonight while in Chapal Hill for tonights game. He will join Marshall in the class of 2010. Very athletic swing man who should be strong at the 2 and 3 position for the Heels.
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) That would be excellent - great post. A lineup something like this would be pretty nice: Figgins, CF Cabrera, SS Thome, DH Dye, 1B Swisher, LF Fields, 3B Pierzynski, C Quentin, RF Richar, 2B Just curious, why would you have a career right fielder moving to 1st base with no clue of how to play that position while Swisher has tons of 1st base skills and experience.
  17. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) John Henson, Top 25 09 SF/PF makes a suprising commitment to UNC today. UNC fans had all but given up on ever getting a Texas kid away from Texas. 6'10 200, had a big growth spurt this year after being a guard early in his high school career. Dexter Strickland should be close to joining him in the next week or two. I love Henson signing along with the twins. Henson was a heavy UNC lean I like his up side. Dom. Cheek seems to be pushing his commitment back from his earlier stated mid season plans, but he did say Marshall, and Strickland are pushing him hard for a Carolina commit. Sounds good for Strickland being all but in Capel Hill.
  18. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) UNC probably going down. Really miss Frasor in this crazy pace, Quentin Thomas as a senior has not improved in 4 years unfortunately. Stepheson's defensive presence in the paint is a big loss tonight as well. 6'5 Mike Copeland and 6'6 Deon Thompson just won't get it done in the paint. Nice road win for the Heels! Ellington was huge all night. It will be nice to get Alex back as well, but Lawson, Ellington, and Hansborough will have to carry this team for the most part.
  19. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Dec 19, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) But hey, I can't talk too much crap tonight. UNC only beat Nichols State by 10 tonight and looked terrible. Maybe they should have stayed on the road. I was hopeing they rested Tyler just to be safe, but it looks like they may have needed him last night after all.
  20. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Dec 18, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) Brown to Miami. He said LSU was ahead of Carolina as well as his #2 choice.
  21. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Dec 18, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) Brown to Miami. Oh well, Butch is moving in the right direction though. Get 'em next time I guess.
  22. Carolina has some good news and luke warm news on the recruting front for basketball. Dexter Strickland looks to be very close to being a Tar Heel commit, but Dominic Cheek, long a heavy Carolina lean, MAY be backing off just a bit. Not certain of this, but there is suppose to be a new influence on him. Wheather he is pro NC or another school is not known. The Wear twins are said to be huge on Roy as there coach, but they are UCLA fans as well being from the west coast. Looks like a two team race for them. Carolina is said to be be cranking up it's pursuit of Mac Donald as well, I'm not sure what this means about there status on D. Cheek.
  23. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 01:49 AM) Saying he's not a really good person seems over the top -- maybe you know something about him I don't. He changed his mind about which University he wanted to attend. It's not a big deal -- other people do the same thing all the time. Athletes transfer and it's no big deal. Sure, he should have told UI as soon as he knew he wasn't coming. But that's a pretty minor misdeed, I think. And even if he had, you know that people would still be seething over being jilted. The hatred is really just about choosing Indiana over Illinois. Edit: Actually -- looking at the UI Scout board, there's really almost no posts wishing Gordon ill. I think I'll not look at IB and just be happy with that. Everybody I know that has worked with or know EJ, say he is a very level headed good kid! He changed his mind about a school after there was a coaching change, numerous other guys did this as well, and it is commonplace in football. this in NO WAY makes him a bad person. It's just sour grapes and jealousy by those who besmerch his character because he chose IU. I can not stand IU, by the way and would have much prefered him to be at Illinois my self. He is a solid kid though.
  24. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) Yeah, he has had trouble staying in front of opposing PG's since his injury last year. He had very solid quickness his freshmen season, but hasn't been the same since. Hopefully he can get over it because he's going to be leading the team next year. He improved in the second half, but was torched in the first half. He is only a serviceable back up, Ty needs to be on the court 30 plus minuets for the Heels to compete for the crown. I am encouraged by the defense in the second half against BYU and OSU, and Green & Ellington has stroked the three fairly well. Thompson was another guy who struggled in the first half, but picked it up in the second. This early tough schedule on the raod for the most part hopefully will pay dividends down the stretch.
  25. The ACC is off to another lead in the big ten / ACC challenge. The ACC is 7-0 so far in this competition, and I doubt that this year will be any different, but who knows. I just hope Ty Lawson does not have any lingering affects from his turned ankle. I'm not sure if he will play against O. State Wed., if there is any doubt rest him!!! I see now that Roy said that he will play, but he won't be 100% he estimated anywhere freom 70 to 90%, and said that frazier and Q will have to continue to pick up added time while Ty is banged up.
