Wow, Willie Warren goes to Oklahoma, that is a huge get for Jeff Caple. He will be a big time point guard to run the show for the Sooners. Scotty Hopson rumors are picking up steam. He sounds a lot like Eric Gordan last year. Saying that he is not opening up his recruitment, and is still with Miss. State, but he and his family does not think it is time to sign the letter of intent and he will probably wait until the spring to finalize his decision. The kid is a stud and we will see if he is actually headed to Starksville. -

Dexter Strickland confirmed in a interview that he and Dominic Cheek are talking about playing together in college (Fla & NC are on both lists). His visit to Carolina was great and he said NC, Florida, and Michigan St. are his big 3 right now with Carolina in the lead, although he had nice things to say about his visit to Indiana also. He wants to be patient though and said he will wait until mid season to commit anywhere, if then. He wants to visit more schools including Memphis. -

I was wondering if anybody else has heard that Scotty Hopson may not sign his letter of intent to Mississippi State, and decommit. I've seen a lot of talk about this, and he did not sign yet. He is a top notch guy who will be a huge catch if he is still avaliable. Some talk about him eyeing Carolina which would be great. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 08:03 PM) Fun and crazy game. Davidson had their chances but couldn't pull it off. Good W for UNC. Excellent win for NC, it was every bit as tough as I thought it would be. Plenty to work on, but this season should be fun. I was hoping to see more out of Thompson & Stephenson, but it's only the first game so we will see. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. I'm not looking forward to an early season matchup with Davidson on Wednesday, that could be a doozy. Davidson will be tough, I haven't checked if it is on the direct tv college hoops package, but I hope it is. Hopefully Ellington is a bit more consistent with his jumper, if so I think the Heels will be extremly tough to deal with. I'm also looking forward to seeing how Deon & Alex have developed, I've heard good things about both especially Deon. Hopefully they can take some of the heat of of big Tyler down on the blocks. -

I posted this in the wrong forum, this should be in the recruiting thread so, I'll try to be better at posting in the appropriate spot form now on. Cheek has also had a growth spurt and is much closer to 6'7 then his listed height of 6'5 at the moment. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 11:01 AM) Juice do you have the information from CarolinaBlue.com from ClintJackson's post about Cheek and Strickland? I'm dying to know what it is.Yes, I I get Clint's stuff from CarolinaBlue. He seems to think that 'Nova is still a player, but a distant second for Cheek, and that Strickland & Cheek are in close communication about hooking up at Carolina with Florida being the only other destination that fits both of their wishes and maybe Ohio State at this point, but Carolina is strong leader. I'm hopeing that Cheek commits early and then becomes our best force in getting Strickland. Marshall is already heavy on Cheek to commit early, so hopefully the domino effect will get going. -

There is a lot of speculation that Dexter Strickland is really excited about teaming up with Dominic Cheek to form a great duo in college. Carolina is a early solid leader for Cheek and Strickland coming along would be an incredible get for Uncle Roy! On the heels of the Zeller signing things are looking good in blue heaven. -

Morgan commits to LSU Williams is suppose to announce today at 4p.m., but I've heard he has decided on Duke, maybe he notified the coaches at Tennesee, Memphis, and Virgina already. I see now he let the cat out of the bag after his practice on Halloween. Big get for Coach K. after a tough year on the recruiting trail for him. -

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) The Morris twins pick the Jayhawks!!!!! Nice get for Kansas. I can't recall the name of the better twin, but one is clearly better at this point then the other. Memphis lost them after they verballed, and their top recruit Angel Garcia looks extremly shakey to be actually going there due to grades. Junior College is becoming a real possability for Angel. Well congrats to the Jayhawks, and good luck in regrouping for the Tigers. -

Congrats to Iman, we will see plenty of him in the next few years at UNC. I think he got his wish to run the point, but I don't know if that's a good thing, he seems better off the ball. Hewants to get to the NBA and he sees point as his best route, so he will be afforded the oppurtunity to learn on the job at G. Tech. Hopefully D. Cheek verbals quickly now -

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Oct 18, 2007 -> 11:54 AM) it'll get even better. wait until your pulling bongs with him.Luke Harengody will miss the first 6 games or so for Notre Dame, with a thumb injury. He had an impressive freshman year, and I work with his uncle, so I wish him the best in his recovery. The Irish will miss his presence at the start of the year. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) Marquette's new jerseys. Thoughts? I like the checkerred pattern with the blue but I'm only lukewarm on the whites. Also, can anyone confirm that Shumpert is going to announce at 5:30 tomorrow? Those new uniforms look a little like DePaul with the side checkers. Last I heard is Shumpert is anounceing today so we will see. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) Yes Tennessee had a 18 point home victory over Memphis early in the year. Memphis was a young team and peaked towards the end of the year. Memphis ended the season 33-4 in the Elite 8 for the 2nd straight year. Tennessee ended up 24-11 and will be without Duke Crews most likely. Tyler Smith is a nice addition, but JP Prince hasn't done anything in his first two seasons to warrant his H.S. ranking. Memphis returns everyone from a 33 win, elite 8 appearance, and adds one of the top 4 recruiting classes in the nation including top 5 Derrick Rose. Memphis returns a core that won 9 more games than Tennessee's core, Memphis' recruiting class is much better than Tennessee's, but Tyler Smith and JP Prince are nice additions. Basically it's a wash. You HAVE to go with the team that went further in the tourney and won 9 more games when everything else is equal. I'll have a bit of a rooting intrest in Memphis starting next year when Angel Garcia gets there. Provided he qualifies acedemically? or doesen't back out of his verbal for some reason. Any word on why the twins from Philly backed out of their verbals? -

I would also be shocked if Shumpert comes to UNC now. With Cheek being the priority and being so close to committing for 09 it seems like Shumpert is on the back burner for Roy. He also got some bad vibes around Chapel Hill from the whole pick-up game story which was much to do about nothing Shumpert also has said he wants to be a point guard in college and he won't get as many oppurtunities for this at UNC. I expect him to go to Marquette where he will have a free run at running the point. -

Dominic Cheek sounds like he was awfully close to commiting to Carolina at his visit this weekend. Hopefully he will do so in the next couple of weeks. Zeller still seems to be a tossup to me between the Heels, Indiana, and Purdue, but we should know within a couple of weeks. He says that the latest misstep by Sampson will have no bearing on his decision. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) What type of drugs was he involved with? I'm doubting it was crack cocaine. It was a massive amount of marijuna (I think) that he got charged with, during a school long undercover operation (6 felony charges) in all. As was stated earlier, there was some question to how the undercover guy conducted himself, but it was a major initial charge of drug trafficking at his high school. -

Yes, the Mackey thing is reminisent of JamesOn Curry with Carolina. N.C. immediatly cut ties with him and revoked his scholarship when he was arrested at school for selling narcotics, but Oklahoma State swooped him up anyway and now he is with the Bulls in the NBA. So, this is not a death sentence for Bud's basketball career necersarily, but damn it is a terrible decision on his part. I hope he comes through this in the long run. -

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 09:49 AM) i don't think it's funny at all. this is a white sox message board that has a fair amount of illinois and indiana fans. it stands to reason that just due to the amount of fans on either side, the debate would have a more of a shelf life here. since there aren't many (any?) memphis fans here, where do you expect the outrage to come from? I'm not just talking about this message board. I'm talking about the overall uproar across the board by EJ's decision. He was ripped everywhere and anywhere possible and is still seen as a "turncoat" even to the point of death threats and whined about at many sites. These kids are seen as guys who have had second thoughts. IU and Duke are the only teams I detest so this observation is not coming from a fan of either team that was involved with EJ and his choice. I just still see it as "funny" the treatment that EJ got and is still getting by many. -

I don't know how old this is, but the Morris twins from Philly de-committed from Memphis. He along with Jennings backing out from his verbal from Maryland last week puts some interesting names back on the market. Funny how the outrage isn't anywhere near the Eric Gordan hatred for his change of heart. I'm not sure how this effects East Chicago big man Angel Garcia who committed to the Tigers earlier this month. Angel is 6'11 but will spend most of his time on the perimeter, so the Morris boys would have been nice big bodies to team up with with him next year.
