QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) I sure hope your right about Zeller. Sampson picked up a 3 star big man out of Ohio yesterday in Tom Pritchard. Word is that Pritchard and Roth are fairly good friends with Zeller and would have been marginal recruits by IU if they weren't. The cynics are saying they were signed just to hopefully entice Zeller to come along, and if he does go elsewhere Sampson won't be exactly "stuck" with them, but he won't be thrilled either. Zeller apparently mentioned to Carolina reporters after his visit that Norte Dame has some catching up to do and is a distant fourth, but played everything else pretty close to the vest about IU, Purdue, and NC. He mentioned that NC had the best style for his game he likes the up tempo part of the big men games at Carolina, but he quickly mentioned thet IU and Purdue are both making strides in that area as well. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 11:27 AM) Kendall Marshall, 2010 PG is about to commit to UNC. He goes to the same school that Marcus Ginyard(UNC SG) went to. Interestingly, both commited during their sophomore years of high school. Ok, maybe not interesting to anyone else, but still. Great news to me! I read how he loved his visit and that Carolina was a huge early leader, but I did not expect him to verbal this soon. Good to hear, now I'm hoping that Shumpert will follow suit. Zeller would be nice too, but I'm luke warm on him, plus I think Purdue has the inside track on him. -

Davilla to Virginia Tech. I know there was some hope that he would come to the midwest, but he stayed down south. -

Iman Shumpert & Tyler Zeller come in for visits to Carolina this weekend. I think Zeller is a fairly signifigant lean towards Purdue, but I am hoping that Iman likes what he sees and he becomes a Tarheeel soon after. It has been a less then stellar recruiting year for Roy, so I hope some help is coming after they host these two top prospects this weekend. -
Fantasy Football trade possible veto?
JuiceCruz16 replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
That is far from a veto type trade. Just because other owners don't like it does not give a reason to nix a trade. There is no shady reasons for this transavtion, so other owners should worry about running their own team. -

Q. Watkins did not qualify and is not directly headed to Illinois either. He will have to go to prep school or a J.C. for at least one semester now. I wonder if he won't just stay the year at a prep school and open up his recruitment for next year again. -

Angel Garcia committed to Memphis. I think this is a great move, coach Cal was in a lot and being from EC I know his game fits how coach Cal wants to use him. I.U. was a huge early leader but again give coach Cal credit for showing how Angel fits perfectly for developing what will get him to the NBA in his program. Now just hope that some of his on-line credits go through from the summer and he can have a strong acedmic senior year as well to avoid a year of prep school. GO EC repeat as state champs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ May 23, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) Speaking of which, Drew just commited to UNC, nice pick-up, could be a 3-4 year PG to afford stability.Yeah, I'm happy with him coming to Chapel Hill. Next up Samardo Samuels!!!!

QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 22, 2007 -> 05:03 PM) Brandon Jennings to Arizona http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/blog.html This bodes well for my Tarheels pursuit of Drew. I know he has slipped in his play this AAU season, but it seemed to be Arizona and UNC neck & neck. Now with Jennings going to the Cats I can see Drew becoming a Heel shortly after.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ May 22, 2007 -> 10:58 AM) One of Scout.com's Illinois news stories is about how DeAndre Liggins has two favorites. Since it was on Illinois' page, I am pretty sure that Illinois is one of them and since I don't subscribe I can only guess the other one, Memphis? Seems like Illinois is in great shape with him. My only hope is that CJ gets a football scholly and that gives us three for Liggins, Shumpert and Dunigan. All three in-state, Illinois has been on them a while and it would be really nice to pull three Chicago guys. The latest I've seen on rivals is he said he has a new top 5 and it is Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Illinois, and Texas. He said he definatly will visit Kansas, Kentucky, and Memphis. He said a visit to Texas is a possiblity. He did not mention Illinois, but being in state I'm sure an unofficial visit would be easy to do. Watch Bill Self pluck another Chicago gem when this one is all over!

QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 16, 2007 -> 12:30 PM) Agree totally, this now gives us 3 available scholly's for the 2008 class in addition to Jones and Mackey. Could be more if EJ goes pro early. Anyhow, here is how I see the scholarships being prioritized for the '08 class. Top priorities for the 3: 1. Devin Ebanks 2. Angel Garcia 3. Tyler Zeller (I'm not really sold on him) Tier 2: Michael Dunigan, Stan Simpson, Dashan Harris, Lewis Jackson, Kevin Jones, Draymond Green. Low level priority but we may have interest: Jason Washburn, Miles Plumlee, Kyle Kuric Again do not count on Angel being in the class of 2008. IU is in great shape for him, but it would almost be a miracle at this point for him to be college eligible for the '08 class.

Jai lucas to Florida, Sanchez to Arkansas, and Patrick Patterson rumors are he will follow Lucus to Florida (Duke & Kentucky still possible). If he spurns Kentucky as well then Billy Gillespe shot a blank in his late recruitments of the remaining names this year.

Hamga goes with UNLV. A bit of a surprise, but he's a Runnin Rebel.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 10, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) I heard DePaul is still involved. Do you know anything about draymond green? Not sure what kinda shot DePaul has with either but I know they're recruiting them. And Jeremiah Kelly is a nice way to start of our 2008 recruiting class. Yeah they have a shot. His top 4 at the moment are Louisville, Memphis, DePaul, and Indiana. Coach Calaparri was in last week to see him and he likes Memphis, but he is clearly Indiana bound if he had to choose now. It isn't even close, for whatever reason he really is impressed with IU, and they are a clear favorite. But you never know.
-
Samardo Samuels looks like he will be headed to Chapel Hill, I hope he doesn't reconsider because a month ago Delvon Roe looked Carolina bound and made a last second switch with the advise of his parents to stay closer to home and go to Michigan State.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 8, 2007 -> 07:59 PM) Right now his top 2 are us and Miami (FL), Rutgers is 3rd and Texas has stopped recruiting him at this point. I think once KS shows him the place where 17,000 will be on their feet cheering as opposed to 5,000 fans who are ready for spring football practice, this kid could be ours. I'd really like to finish with a 2008 class of Ebanks, Mackey, Jones and Garcia. I also heard that we still have a legitimate shot at Beas Hamga for 2007 (Holman could go to prep school or Jordan Crawford could be redshirted). Well, Garcia is a heavey lean to IU, but you may have to wait an extra year if he does not make-up his school work. He is only a sophmore acedemically now, so a year in prep school after this one looks to be on the horizon.
-
I see Angel Garcia (from state champ East Chicago) moved up to #33 overall. He is getting a lot of intrest from Memphis lately among others, but Indiana is FAR in the lead at this point. I'm almost positive he will have to go to a prep school next year though unless he makes serious progress academically this summer. That will be tough to do with all of the AAU travel and his time spent driveing his new BMW.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) Well, by agreeing that the gordon family deserves full blame, that's what it sounds like, but I meant weber loyalists in general. Plenty of weber supporters on other boards and probably on here have used that type of argument to combat all the criticism he gets. Thanks a lot. DePaul needs high basketball-IQ players, particularly at PG, but I was hoping he was a shooter too. How's his speed and quickness? Hopefully good if he's a penetrator. He's not blow your socks off quick, but he is deceptive and knows how to turn the corner on most defenders. He is a capable shooter, it's just not anything special. E. Chicago laid off him and almost dared him to shoot it taking away his penetration to create for others, and he struggeled. Good Luck to the Munster kid, and your Blue Demons next year.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) DePaul is also recruiting him. I believe he's friends with and played AAU with one of our incoming guys from indiana, Bizoukas. Haven't seen him play, but if he's good, hopefully we're still top 3 for him. Oh yeah, if anybody from indiana had seen Bizoukas (PG from munster) play, I'd be interesting in hearing what people think of him. Obviously not as highly ranked as our top 30 guys Dar Tucker and Mac Koshwal, but DePaul does need a guy who can develop into a smart, efficient PG. I've seen Bizoukas plenty over the past 3 years. He is a gritty, hard nosed, intelligent point guard. He actually had a fade away 15 footer rim out at the buzzer to beat East Chicago in the sectionals and spoil their great state championship run before it even started. He pulled an Eric Gordon by skipping out of his verbal to Northern Iowa to go to DePaul. I like his game, but he will be hard pressed to play in the Big East. I think it would have takin him at least a few years to play at No. Iowa. His game is penetration and making good decisions. Average shooter at best, his high basketball I.Q. is his strong suit. As for East Chicago and Angel Garcia, I see him all the time. He is extremly skilled for a big man. He has a pure jump shot up to 20 feet, handles the ball like a guard, at 6'11. He is terribly raw as a low post player though, well he doesn't show much intrest in playing on the block. He is a typical European type big man and his upside is HUGE! He is a sophmore academically, so prep school is a given after next season. He is also just learning english so grades are a question as well. Pro teams from Europe are sniffing around him already also. Pittino and many others have been hard on him for a while now. E'twaun Moore vs. Eric Gordon was fun to watch. EJ is spactaculr and as good a guard as I've seen come out in a long time, but E'twaun is so solid at every phase of the game he is going to be an impact player in the big 10 right away. He just was named to 3rd team Parade All-American and it is well deserved. E.C. played great to beat North Central. Garcia (25 pts 9 reb.), Moore (28pts. 5reb, 5assist) and 6'4 280 big 10 football recruit Kiwann Short, my pick for game MVP (24pts 10reb.) were too much for N. Central to match.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 12:27 PM) *shivers* Here's Tylers new noseguard. 'Noles move on to face the Heels, and try to solidify a placein the NCAA. Should be interesting. -
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 12:25 PM) That would be fun to have either Clemson or FSU who is playing for their tourney lives against UNC, who under Roy Williams has notoriously not cared about conference tournaments. Florida State stays alive 67-66 over Clemson. Al Thornton with the winning free throw with 1.5 seconds left. They face my Heels next and may get in even if they lose a close one. Bubble teams beware!

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) yay UNC goes down Still have Ga. Tech and the Dookies left, let alone the ACC tourney but my Heels are still in the drivers seat for a #1 seed. That #8 ranking means nothing. Still the manner how they let the game slip away made for a bad lose to a good hot Maryland squad. -
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) I know nobody else cares, but UNC is having a ridiculous day. 3 star Devon Ramsey, 4 star Greg Little, 4 star Kevin Bryant, 5 star Marvin Austin, 5 star Dwight Jones, and now 4 star Weslye Saunders all in one day. I don't even know what to say right now, I don't even know what to say, but this makes tonights basketball game almost irrelevant. Awesome day a great start for Coach Davis!
