Carolina was very lucky to hold off Nevada at home, for Roy's 600th victory 80-73, was down with under 5 minutes to go ! Larry drew played well, he may be growing up a bit, but the other youngsters look a long way off still. Should be a ROUGH stretch with Michigan St., @ Kentucky, and @ Texas coming up. I would be surprised if they can steal one of those, but we will see . -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 09:33 PM) ISU destroys another opponent. Finally, real teams this weekend. St. Louis on Friday, NW or ND on Sat. St. Louis qualifies as a "real" team . LOL. Well, you did just say real, not good, so maybe I can buy that. N'western? ND I'll give ya . -

QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) Solid win by Purdue over Tennessee Then again the Vols are ranked a bit too high imo. That was a slugfest. Good win for Purdue with JaJuan Johnson sitting out most of the game with foul trouble. Barlow showed some heart and played hard, but looked like a scared freshman on those last two misses at the line to give Tennesee the shot for the win. Glad to see the East Chicago kid E'twaun Moore walk away with the tournament MVP! -
Floyd is a MUCH better buisness man then Pac. Pac has the traditional promoters and handlers all with a million hands in his purses. Floyd has always dealt for himself and because of that does not get swindled out of what HE is bringing in. Bob Arum and the like will be the holding point if there is one. The traditioanl leeches that use up the fighters. Floyd will fight Pac and they will break the bank! I still like Floyd in the matchup, he is faster and naturally bigger. A pure defensive master, but Pac-man should "check his chin", which is still somewhat of a question, due to the fact that nobody has been able to land on him. Can't wait to see it.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 22, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) He be good. At least ISU is rolling again today, up 62-33 on Mississippi Valley State with 13 or so minutes left. My childhood friend is head coach at Mississippi Valley State. Sean Woods who hit the "game winning" shot against Duke to send Kentucky to the final four, before Leatner stole his glory with that B.S. buzzer beater. I talked to Sean this summer, MVST. is a long way away from being much good right now, but I wish him well in doing what he can with them. -

Just got back from the weekend. Syracuse gave the first of some tough love ass whoopins for my young Heels to endure in the upcoming weeks. I'm afraid, with this stretch ahead of them they "will get some tough lovin". Hopefully, the younguns can grow and be a much stronger version by March. The 'cuse looked long and more athletic in their zone against Cal & UNC (could be a mirage). It's early but if Scoop Jardine can run a strong point, Wesley Johnson looks like a 1st team all american type who can take them a long way. Still very early, but Wesley can be a difference maker. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 08:30 AM) Defensively they are still adjusting to going back to man to man, but on offense its tough to look good when your best players are going 3-16 etc and not hitting shots. Turner had to go at it alone for alot of the game which made him turn the ball over quite a bit. They have alot of growing to do this year. Ginyard is a pretty tough defender, I was very impressed with the job he did on the very talented Turner. Really gave him fits when he was guarding him. I think I saw where Turner had more turnovers then points while Ginyard was guarding him. -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) That was just for his visit, but it was pretty awesome. And Harris says he signed with the Vols! Great get for a program like ours! http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2009/nov/19...as-signed-vols/ Oh, and here's a link to that picture of the Rock that Juice was referring to... http://www.volnation.com/forum/attachment....mp;d=1255107767 Great get for your Vols! Big time athlete should fit in great with the uptempo game Pearl plays. -

I was pleasently surprised to see my Tarheels dominate yesterday. Their backcourt has a lot of growing up to do to be serious contenders though. The last 4 minutes showed how much seasoning they need. They took a game that never really was under double digits and had a chance of blowing it. Syracuse should be a even tougher task tonight, they play with more athleticism. On the flip side I don't know what it is with big ten teams with mega athletes coming in out of high school like Ohio State & Michigan St. etc. playing that ploding slow brand of basketball still. Get out a run a bit! -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 02:04 PM) I think you're probably right, unfortunately. Though I'm still holding out hope b/c Tobias was at the Tennessee game last night. Bought his own ticket and sat in the upper deck so he could try to watch the game as a normal person and just enjoy the atmosphere without people being all over him. Is his image in a Tennesee uniform still painted on that rock, or was that just for his visit? -

Tobias Harris to annoumce today. Down to final 7, and he claims to have made his final decision last night. My guess is he is going to choose Syracuse, but this is just a total guess on my part. -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) Ohio State should win, but that doesn't mean they will. I still don't buy UNC as a top 5 team this year, but we'll see. They're still a very, very solid team but next year is when they will be back into the elite IMO. I agree at this early stage in the season with so many new young faces UNC is not a traditional top 5 team as of yet, but not many teams have a top 5 type roster at this point from last years returnining players (Kansas Mich. St). By tourney time they MIGHT, be a top 5 team, though. As for tonight the young guards will have to play solid which will be a tough task for the inexperienced but talented group. IF they get the guard play Carolina's bigs will dominate!!! I think OSU at this point of the season does look good to get the "baby" Heels, but by tourney time I think the Heels will be a clearly stronger team. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) Dammit, for some reason I thought UNC v OSU was on tonight. Why the f*** did I buy all these beers then? Headed to a buddies house to take in the rebuilt Heels. Excited to see how long it takes for the youngsters to gel. If the guardplay of Drew,Dex, Graves, McDonald can be reasonably solid then I like the Heels chances. A lot to ask for the young guys in UNC's backcourt at this point though. The Buckeyes have a great chance tonight. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) Yeah, it came out last week Williams wouldn't be signing with IU. I wasn't too worried about it, nor that surprised. The whole thing was kind of odd -- it was absolutely out of nowhere when he committed, and then I barely heard anything about him for a few months, then I heard he had decommitted. Yep, the Sheehey kid seems like a stretch as well, solid role player who can shoot it fairly well. Not a very big get for IU, but he does have a bit of upside I guess. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) So, basically, no one has any clue where he's going, with people absolutely sure he's a Blue Devil, a Tar Heel, and a Cyclone. It does seem like Bill Self knows he is not headed to Kansas, though. He made some quotes in the paper about how he would watch the announcement if he thought he had a chance. Sounds like Harrision did give him the thanks but no thanks call. -

Hope it's wrong, but I'm hearing that Kansas and UCLA have been notified by Barnes that he is not going to Lawrence or LA, and some AM radio station in LA has leaked that he said he is a headed to DUKE. Who knows, but I do think he has been Dukes to lose for awhile. An official welcome to the Carolina family to Mr. Reggie Bullock yesterday and Mr. Kendall Marshall today, though. -

QUOTE (nastymasty21 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) Beckham is our 3 hitter...period. end of story...If he is leading off we are in serious trouble Don't like Beckham in the 3 hole. 2nd spot is a much better fit, or down lower in the orde in my opinion. 3 spot is better then leadoff though. I also do not like Beckham at third base, he is much better suited as a second baseman. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) I think it is either the Tribune or the Sun-Times saying the Sox confirmed this trade. Then they go on to say they think Beckham moves to 2B as Ozzie supposedly said he things GB can be a 2Bman? Apparently the team is never satisfied with what they put in place. Speculations runs rampant that Figgins will be signed to play 3B. Oh well. I think Beckham was just a stop gap at 3rd base. He never translated into a 3rd baseman from what I saw. He was always seen as a middle infielder with shortstop being a bit of a stretch. I think he was always put in as a 2nd baseman and desperation led to him filling in at 3rd last year. -

Not worried about losing Getz. I would like to see Beckham at second base. 3rd base is a stretch for Gordan. Teahan needs to shorten that LONG swing of his though. He should have plenty of pop playing in the Cell while shortening it up a bit. -

Nov. 12, is suppose to be the announcement date for Harrison Barnes. I still feel Duke is in the best position to gain his services, but some "insider guy" out of Memphis is reporting that Duke has been informed that he won't be going there. Kansas and UNC are top of the list at this late stage according to him. For whatever that is worth, LOL, not much I'm sure, but I'm interested in seeing who he picks in a couple of weeks. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) just picked up tix for Illinois @ Northwestern game. Its always my favorite game to go to, the little high school gym is usually over half orange, and its on a Saturday night this year. If NW could have some success and get some more fan support, I think that gym could be a big home court advantage for them. Its so small, I'm sure its gotta get pretty loud if packed with all Wildcat fans. I just got a couple for Ohio State @ Purdue. Love that the NCAA hoops season is almost here. Go TAAAAAAAAR HEEEEEELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
