Barnes, Mcadoo and others will have a big weekend at Carolina along with their current verbals as the alumni game to celebrate the 100th year is drawing big intreset. The rosters are pretty impressive for the game!! -

Aaron Bowden decommitted from Marquette. This trend is just going to keep growing with the coaches getting verbals at younger and younger ages. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) No offense, but I'm guessing my sources are closer than your sources Probably so, and that may account for more respect being given to his feelings toward Iowa State. The people who are familiar with Iowa State and Ames in general, where his parents work and he has had relationships with the program are the closest. I doubt Barnes would like to alienate or act disrespectful to the possibility of being a Cyclone to them. Hey, I would never say never, but it seems from most following his recruitment thet Iowa State is more a familiarity thing and he is showing them respect, but not a top contender. I would much rather see him there then Duke though, so good luck if UNC can't win him over to wear Carolina blue. Barnes has kept it pretty close to the vest about his feelings to this point though, so I wouldn't be shocked to see him end up anywhere left on his list. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 10:41 PM) ATTN: Kyrie Irving. Come to IU. That is all. They seem to be the leader for Irving. Duke is making a hard charge for him as well. IU and Duke are my only two teams I can't stand at all, so I hope he finds a third team to go play for. IU would be the lesser of two evils though since my Tarheels wouldn't have to see him at least twice a year. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 09:31 PM) People close to the program: Both. People close to Barnes: ISU slightly more than Duke. What I have heard is Iowa State is just an afterthought due to his familiarity with the school and his parents connection with work there. Duke has been the favorite, with Kansas and Carolina the next strongest possibilities. His visits are coming up, and hopefully he can do a Brandon Wright and just love the late night with Roy campus trip he is coming for and become a Tarheel .Wright was said to be a heavy Duke or Kentucky lean until the very same visit and he left a Tarheel verbal. If he doesn't come to Blue Heaven that opens the door for Jones or Leslie . -

Isiah was funny in his statements. First of all he jumped the gun and started to talk about opening with Ohio St. before it was set in stone, the school even made schedules with it. Then he tells the media how excited he is to be opening against a big time team. "Ohio State on the road in the big 10, it doesen't get any bigger then that. Then he says no way to UNC saying "Were not ready for a of big time game like that yet". LOL -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) Awesome, he stayed away from Duke I agree with that! Coach K. has consistently missed on his top targets lately and it shows with their talent on their roster. Boyton & now Wall continues this trend of missing big timers they target. Wall basically said it came down to Kentucky and Miami in the end. Duke wasn't even his second choice. -

Eric Bledsoe signs with Kentucky! Another 5 star for coach Cal, this should give Kentucky the #1 incoming class. There is some concerns about his SAT scores though. Kentucky claims this will not affect their recruitment of John Wall who is also a natural point like Bledsoe. Cal will have the Cats back as perenial contenders very quickly!! -
Neil Funk/Stacey King Appreciation

QUOTE (wilmot825 @ May 4, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) Stacey King has the best nicknames for people....like Scalawhatever his name is, Stacey referred to him as "Jackie Moon" the whole series. Too Funny Scalabrini reminds me of Micheal Rapperport, and Salmons reminds me of Wesley Snipes. I was refering to each by those names quite often throughout the series. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 4, 2009 -> 09:23 AM) John Wall charged with breaking and entering.... http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/bl...rn=ncaab,160959 It seems pretty minimal. No forced entry, nothing taken from the home. Sounds like something fairly dumb, but not a big deal. The talk of him being able to go pro is still out there I see. If he is able to go pro, he should without a doubt enter the draft. I know there was some difference in opinion if he would be eligible to enter though. I see it was an abandoned house, and he was with a freind and a female. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 12:43 PM) Ben's nothing but a shooter. He doesn't do much of anything else. I won't be too sad to see him go. Salmons can be just as good of a scorer as him and provides better defense. You just have to pray that Luol Deng comes back to 2006-2007 form and put him at SF. He does have a nice floater and mid range game, but he does not finish at the rim or create for others. He is not just a shooter to me like some spot up guy in the Craig Hodges/Steve Kerr sense. He creates space and doesen't need much room to get his "j" off.

Wake Forest gets a very nice athletic 4 star wing for the 2010 class in Travis McKie. Carolina liked him a lot, but did not offer so Wake gets a good one. Indiana got a commit from a unranked kid David Williams? from out of Florida who I really haven't heard about, but he is suppose to be an under the radar type guy. Athletic long 6'6/6'7 wing player. Terrell Vinson who shunned the big schools to commit with Loyola Marymont, but then got out of his verbal has committed to UMASS. -

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) With Lawson signing with Bill Duffy and John Wall likely committing to Duke. It will be up to you to defeat the dark-side next year. Wall is far from a Dookie just yet. Coach Cal among others have a great chance at him. I hope he stays far away from the Blue Devils!!!! -

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) Look like Xavier Henry to KU! Great get if it is a done deal. Where did you get the info? Some reports I heard said he was leaning toward sticking with Memphis. Ah, I see the Jayhawkslant.com article now. It seems that he has given Self the word. The announcement Thursday, seems to be a forgone conclusion according to this. -
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) Gordon being 6'3? That's what they say. I've been at a Bulls game by the tunnel and he's my height and I'm 6'0. But anyways. Ben really doesn't do anything except shoot. He's a fantastic scorer. But he doesn't play defense, give an attempt to rebound, or help other teammates score by finding an open man. I'd love to keep him. But didn't he turn down a 5-55 deal? If he wants more then that, peace out. I would prefer paying him then paying Hinrich or Deng though. Oooops! The talk about Tyreke Evens I'm not sold on, but Wayne Ellington will most certainly be there at 16. Unless his stock grows by leaps and bounds he has been at best looked at at a low first round choice. Hey, as a Tarheel diehard I would love to see wayne cash in on his MOP, but without some great individual workouts he will be around for the Bulls to pass up as well.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) Tell me how many teams win titles with a 6-3 shooting guard that doesn't get to the rim all that well. I like BG as instant offense off the bench. I like BG if the price is right. But I don't want the Bulls to tie up a ton of money in a guy who, in my opinion, is not going to bring an NBA title to Chicago as your starting SG. The Pistons with Vinnie Johnson coming off the bench as instant offense "the microwave".

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 03:26 PM) Can you argue with the timeouts he used? No, you can't. One was to draw a play to get the ball to Gordon to tie the game and it worked, though one could argue how good the actual play was once Gordon got the ball. Another one was to stop the bleeding after a Celtics 9-0 run IIRC. It's better to go out with no timeouts left than to have timeouts at the end of the game and lose IMO. That means you exhausted all possibilities. After Miller turned it over and Rondo scored the break away layup, I don't think a time out was vital. The play for Gordon seemed like a normal set to shake him "semi" open. They were getting him the rock consistantly even after the Celts focused on preventing him shots. Two games in a row without a timeout is a mistake by Vinny. It was a nip and tuck game and time outs in the last couple of seconds to move the ball to half court is something all NBA coaches have to keep in mind. If he thought it was more important to burn them when he did more power to him, but they could have played through a few. Then again, it may mushroom on the young ballclub and the Celts make a run on them. That's why he's paided to make those calls. I would have preferred to have them when needed for the last possesion.
