  1. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) They've got to beat Marquette first. True, how is that game going by the way. My G'town upset over the 'cuse came through.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 01:11 PM) I'm liking ND's odds now. They play Pitt tonight - who they've beaten. They'd play WVU next - who they've beaten. Then, GTown - who they've beaten. ND is playing much better, but in no way do I like their chances of beating those three teams in a row under any circumstances. Possible yes, but liking their odds to run the table I don't think so. Odds are about even up to get by Pitt, and stacked against them to survive past Pitt & W. Virginia. If they get that far to make it to the final they still would have to take out Marquette/G'town. Can't see how you would like thier odds, I would guess they would be at least 20 - 25 to 1 to make the final at this point..
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) They've got to beat Syracuse first. Maybe not the 'cuse has to beat G'town first. 'nova has been struggleing a bit lately, but they are my semi upset pick for the tournament champs.
  4. Oklahoma State makes a run to the title game, but Kansas is just too much.
  5. Villanova over West Virginia for the crown
  6. I will select Wisconsin over Michigan State in the final. Purdue would be my pick if not for the injury.
  7. It is a bit surprising that most people have the ACC getting 7 teams into the dance this year. I will show my bias against Duke and pick Clemson as tournament champs over the Dookies!
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) They are recruiting a couple of guys from this area pretty hard, who can really help them over the next couple of years. I know Mitch McGary (a Jr) is one, and I have seen him play in person quite a few times. He is going to be really good at the college level. Glen Robinson's kid is a sophomore and already averaging about 17 a game. Yep, Dawson is the key "get" to make his recruiting class good to possibly stellar if the likes of McGary follow. Have not seen McGary in person yet). The two Johnson's they already have coming in are solid guards. I havent't seen the kid from Whitney Young in person (Anthony Johnson), but I have caught Terone Johnson from Indianapolis when "we" (East Chicago) beat them. They are solid guys if they can get a stud like Dawson they are perfect guards to florish in West Lafayette.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) I have heard zero buzz about Purdue bball recruiting basically since the johnson/moore/hummel class. Their window of opportunity is this year and next. If I'm Hummel, I'm planning to come back next year, even if it's a half season. They have a couple decent guards coming in Johnson from Indy etc, but no real studs. They are the supposed leader for Brandon Dawson out of Gary, Ind along with UCLA ( been hearing some Duke interest from Dawson lately though). They are really putting all of their eggs in the Dawson basket for next year as he is a top 10 guy at worst, and their other recruits fit nicely with him as the center piece. If they miss on him the next guy they are all over is also from Gary a stud sophmore Morero. Painter is going to try to survive and flourish by getting the "region" kids from N.W. IND. to stay at home. If he can succeed they will be very strong year in and year out. Moore, Hummel, and Martin (even though he transfered) were the key to that stellar recruiting class and the template for future success if he can recruit "da Region" well.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 07:31 PM) Bad for purdue and bad for the B10. I still think he's the 3rd best player on that team however and still think they could make a good run. I agree he is their 3rd best player ( all 3 are very close though in importance), but they are SO dependant on those three that losing any of them eliminates Purdue as any kind of serious contenders to get to Indy for the final four. When he planted in the lane Wednsday night their final four hopes blew up along with his knee.
  11. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) My friends and I predicted that on the spot. That's exactly what the injury looked like, which is pretty bad news for Hummel and Purdue. Yeah, as soon as it happened you could tell he blew his knee out I texted a few buddies immediatly "Hummel looks like he blew out his knee, Purdue done as serious contenders". I hate to see an injury impact any contending team. Even if it was for the teams I openly dislike (Duke & Indiana) I just HATE seeing a key guy injured for ANY contending team . Rooting for Purdue, since they have a kid I've known since he was in 7th grade (E'twaun Moore) makes this injury suck that much worse.
  12. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) Great game, but we should have won that. Iverson is a moron, and Joseph had a great look at the end to win it and it just didn't fall. Frustrating loss, but it basically sums up how this season has gone. Losing Hummel while off to a double digit lead, and Moore having a poor offensive shooting game and somehow Purdue wins on the road. Grant has finally played well for the Boilers the past two weeks, but without Hummel, which it didn't look good for any return this year, the Boilers are just a average team at best. Horrible break for Purdue if Hummel is gone for the rest of the year!
  13. I like the DH and it is used at every level of baseball except in the MLB for the National League!
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) Rick Barnes just flat out sucks as a coach. Luckily for him and for Texas he has had as much talent in the last 10 years as any other school in the country. How is that lucky? Recruiting is part of a college coaches job. Every coach works with what they are able to bring in to play for them. Nothing lucky about that, it is part of your coaching skills as a college coach.
  15. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) Hopefully Roy Boy retires and rids us all of his whining and complaining. Been a horrible year all around for my Heels, and Roy has to be front and center with the horrid year. He does get a major pass with 2 national titles in the past 5 years, and still holding the best win percentage of all time as a coach. You have a long wait for his retirement and the "whining and complaining" to go away. Get "em now things should be back to form next year. LOL Poorly played game last night by both teams. I thought Davis clearly damaged his wrist severly enough to take him out of the game. From the point of his injury (down 1 with about 5 minutes left) he missed both free throws badly, then missed a front end of a 1 and 1 on the next trip, badly again, followed by fumbleing an easy pass from Drew for a dunk out of bounds. Those 3 possesions were the difference, as Duke pushed forward. Roy should have realized that a strictly left handed player with no mobility of his left wrist could not do anything productive, and replaced him with an able bodied guy. The better team won (not saying much, everyone seems better then the Heels in the ACC at this point), but the game was there to steal which would have been nice against the Dookies.
  16. McCamey has been playing GREAT at the point for the Illini. I'm much happier to see E'twaun Moore finally start to get some recognition for his game. Musberger was riding his jock the entire game last night, even calling for him to get serious Big Ten player of the year consideration. That's a bit much for me with Evan Turner far and away the player of the year, but other then Turner I would go with McCamey & E'twaun as tops in the league.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 07:19 PM) This is the part I don't get. Who cares if a team rushes the court after a big win? Complaining about it sounds either snobby or sour grapes. Besides it isn't like their is a guidebook to when exactly it is acceptable to rush the court. The league should fine the school who bum rushes the court,/field like the SEC does in football, I think they do in hoops as well. It could easily be quelled! Very easy to establish a "guidebook', you don't do it or you get stung hard!
  18. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) UNC about to fall to 13-10 on the season with a 20+ point loss at UMD. Roy should get a trophy for worst coaching performance of the year. 7 Mickey D's AA's and are a long shot to even make the NIT. The worst part is that Roy will come back to any fan questioning this years team with his usual "I have more basketball knowledge in my pinky than you do in your entire body" routine. They are a limited basketball team with very little peremeter shooting and no point guard to drive and create. Every team they play are aware of these glaring weaknesses and attack them. The team has lost any confidence (rightfully so) and are in a total freefall. Wednsday against Duke could be ugly, the Dookies would love to take some frustration out on the Heels for the past few years. As for Roy he has earned a pass from me for his dominence the past 5 years.
  19. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) I agree with our nation having issues. I remember when I graduated from high school, they had scholarships strictly for women or racial minorities. But that's not racist nor sexist. But it someone was to set up a scholarship strictly for white males, it could be called both. This idea of an all white league is beyond rediculous, but if they wanted me I'd probably play. There are plenty of those scholarships only for white males. Polish, German, French decent etc. Literally thousands. There are scholarships to fit background, ethnicity, neighborhoods, etc. take a look not only women of racial minorities white males have plenty out there.
  20. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) National title to NIT, now I know what Florida fans felt like a few years ago. They have a whole lot of work to do at this point. Just not a very good team in any part of the game, and downright poor in some parts. Two of the three loses at home really hurt.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) And what idiots like Shaq don't realize is if he would have kept in his pants, it would have stayed that way. It still stays that way! She is a money grubbin star banger who he went ahead and had sex with. She will get nothing from her claims. The morality police for sexual behavior can go ahead with whatever they want to, but he will not be hurt from her legal suit. Delonte West, JJ Redick, Kenyon Martin, and every other man/woman who are having or have had sex outside of marriage are terrible humans for having sex without being married to that person. None of my buisness who grown people decide to have sexual relations with. She will be seen for what she is trying to make this public for the almighty dollar.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 08:01 AM) Bingo. How stupid do you have to be in this day and age to think you can get away with it? Then again, this is Shaq we are talking about... Get away with what? Having sex? In regard to this suit the chick is the problem, so what Shaq and many others had sex with her. HIs divorce is his and his wifes buisness, not this whackjob psycho star banger of a female.
  23. My Tarheels could not handle the pressure as I feared and they got blitzed by Clemson. On a positive note Dex Strickland continues to show that he is improving and may be a signifigant improvement for the guard play by tournament time. Getting some degree of a consistant out side shooter (Graves, maybe), and hopeing Drew can grow into a semi consistent point is a major issue. Ga. Tech is trouble Saturday as well, at least it is in the Dean Dome. The young fellas have a few more difficult learning lessons to endure, but hopefully they can compete come March.
  24. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:21 PM) Throwing a spit ball is like holding in football. Its against the rules, but if the ref or ump doesn't see it, it's not cheating. Steroids and HGH are completely different because most of the use with them in sports are ILLEGAL, and are giving the players a clear physical advantage against those who don't break the rules. A pitcher can still hang a spit ball and have it be hit 400 feet for a homer. However, a batter can have warning track power, but suddenly after one offseason, become a guy who can knock out 20 easy. There is a HUGE difference, and you trying to justify it all together as just "cheating" is laughable. What about all the "cheaters" that abused "greenies" all the amphetemines used illegally solely as a performance enhancing drug. Plenty of those rewarded and celebrated for this "cheating". The modern players performance enhanceing drugs just worked better, but they were illegally used for the exact same purpose by the players and organizations. Ban them all then!
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) 0.0 percent of staying, they've pretty much already given his schollie away. Matt Painter threw alot of his players under the bus after the game. He should have thrown himself under there putting Cramer on Turner for that long. Its not that difficult to figure out that you can double team Turner and beat OSU. Cris Cramer cannot guard Evan Turner. I agree! More then that he left DJ Byrd and Smith in for EXTENDED minutes at the same time. Neither wanted any part of a shot and I told my buddy at the game that Painter just let this game stay within reach, now Turner has a chance to take over the game and steal one for the Buckeyes. Bad game for Coach Painter last night!
