  1. This would be a great trade except for the fact that we'd be giving up John Garland. Garland has what it takes to be a future Cy Young winner, and you may all laugh now, but just watch. Not to mention, aren't we trying to improve the rotation, losing Garland would be a huge hit. I'd much rather give up Danny Wright, even though it would be sad to see him leave. Lee is a great hitter and I'd miss him, but Liefer is also a pretty good hitter, who may become an awesome hitter if he plays everyday, and Borchard is waiting as well. I wouldn't miss Harris too much, because it would give a chance for Graffy to play everyday, plus we have Hummel who is just incredible. Just as long as Garland stays out of the deal, and Williams doesnt give up any top end prospects, I say go for it. Now that I've written all this, it seems as though Sox fans will not get their wish, but who knows.:metal
  2. Carpenter is still a Cardinal, he was resigned today...:metal
  3. Don't expect the Expos to give up Armas at all. He still has a butt load of potential and has an arsenal of pitches he can throw for strikes. He doesn't cost nearly as much as Vasquez or Colon, who are surely going to get plenty of attention from numerous suitors.
  4. I've been a fan of Ryan Dempster ever since he's been in the bigs. Sure, he hasn't been great the last few years, but he's been better than most sox pitchers. In fact, he would've been second next to Buerhle next year. If Don Cooper can get him to better command that hard slider of his, it'll make his low nineties fastball that much more affective. I think Dempster would be a great pickup. Harris has good speed, but his defense is lacking, and I don't see all that much potential for him with the bat in his hands. Just as long as we're not giving up another big name prospect, then I would definately like to see Dempster in a Sox uniform. I was sad to see that Finley resigned with the Cards, because he was a favorite of mine and I would have loved to see him in the Sox rotation. There are still a few arms left in the free agent market, but I think Kenny Williams needs to act soon if he's going to pick someone up. I would definately like to see Colon in the rotation, but so would everyone else. And every other team in the league wants to see him in their rotation. I doubt Williams will be willing to give up all that it will take to get Colon. I think that Dempster is the way to go.:metal
  5. Correction, Finley was offered Salary Arbitration which allows more time for negociation. Where it's doubtful that he will sign with another team, there is still a chance he could end up somewhere else if the money is right. However, it's highly unlikely the sox will want to pay him more than the Cards will probably offer him.
  6. Has anyone considered Chuck Finley? He finished solid with St. Louis and would be a great addition to the Sox rotation. He probably wouldn't command that much salary either, to boot:metal
