The Sox could always turn to me, I pitched HS and American Legion ball last year. Sure, I can't hit higher than 85 mph on my fastball, and I'm only 17, but I've gotta be better than Jim Parque... haha
-
No giving up Stewart, I'd give up Bryan West and his mullet along with Willie Harris in a heartbeat for Dempster!
-
Did you guys know that f*** originates from the German word flichen, which means to strike. I bet you learned something new today.
-
Jose plays SS to win, not to not commit errors. Big Risks = Big Rewards. Jose is money... How many pitchers do you know that try to play it safe and get rocked? Jose is just playing to win!

Everybody jump on the Ryan Dempster bandwagon!!!

Why lose faith when it feels so good to feel good about the Sox. Sure, Kenny Williams isn't all that great of a GM, I mean, neither was Roger Dorn, and look what he did. He traded away Jack Parkman for practically nothing, and they still went to the World Series... wait, what the f*** am I talking about?
-
I don't think the Reds would want a whole lot more. Maybe another minor leaguer. I don't know how much confidence the Reds have in Dempster. I guess we will see.

Mendoza isn't worth the risk. He wants to be a starter, and he won't be a good starter. He's too inconsistent.
-
HAHA... wow, a good laugh for the holidays. But seriously y'all. Dempster once had a 96 mph fourseamer, since then he's been throwing a two-seamer at 92-93 mph. His change-up is good, and his slider was once considered one of the best in baseball. If he can find it under Cooper, he would definately be worth the risk of a Willie Harris.

Two Words: Ryan Dempster

We all know that Ritchie had a bad year. We could blame it on his elbow, or not being used to the offense in the American League, but no one knows what to blame other than Todd himself. I think if Ritchie will come back this year, and preform up to his expectations.
-
Save us Ryan Dempster, you're our only hope. Honestly, he's the only realistic option the Sox have as a second or third starter.

MJ and Foulke are not 'The Franchise'... Ortiz is not worth PK.
-
Valentine can get wild sometimes and loses control of his pitches... not often, but often enough to cause a hazard in the final innings of a game. The main difference between the two is command of their pitches. Almonte throws a nasty changeup low, that breaks down across the knees... Valentine doesn't really have a pitch that defines him, like the changeup for Almonte or Foulke, or Schillings splitfinger, or Clemens forkball....
-
Valentine... better than Almonte... oh lord... Wasn't his ERA in the Fall league... somewhere around 9? Not to mention, the Sox have Royce Ring who with some seasoning could be a dominant closer in the Major Leagues...
-
No offense to Westie, but he's no where as good as Malone. Malone is going to be a staple in the Sox rotation somewhere in the near future. Malone = Money
-
Do you guys actually think Paul 'the Franchise' Konerko is going to be traded just a little while after getting singed to a huge deal? Corwin Malone is not going anywhere, this kid is the real deal, and I don't think Sanders is either, especially after preforming so well in the AFL. As for good ol Arnie, that curveball looks alot like Matt Morris's... Ortiz is not coming to Chicago if it involves any of these guys... remember, Williams isn't sacrficing the future for a slightly increased chance to win.

SN Report: Koch Deal Done, Sox Get Cotts, Holt
WSFAN35 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't think murciagelo was talking about Cotts or Holt, it was about the minor league rule 5 draft (which is worthless). Don't forget y'all, that if the Blue Jays can't keep Majewski on the Major League roster all year, they have to give him up, so the Sox may end up getting him back. -
Majewski will be a solid big league pitcher one day, I'm honestly sad to see him go, hopefully the sox can get him back, but if not, the best of luck to him in Toronto:metal

Drafting High School players is a joke. Far too often High School hitters get signed right out of the gate, and struggle using wood bats, and are never successful at a professional level. But, the same thing goes for College hitters, because they are still using aluminum. The GM's in the Bigs need to stop spending their money signing 18 year old kids, and start buying wood bats for colleges. :metal

I think that Jiminez is definately the leadoff man of the future, but for some reason, the Sox feel that Harris is the way to go. Well, Harris has a long way to go. He doesn't get on base enough, and to be honest, I don't think he has much potential to prove that. I think Jiminez needs to play everyday to get a clear picture of what he can produce. I might be the only one that thinks this, but I don't think they should acquire a leadoff hitting center fielder, or Jose Vidro, because it will hinder the growth of these young players. Jiminez could be a future all-star. Nonetheless, the Sox need to find a leadoff hitter that works, because that's the key to putting up numbers on the board. Then again, having good hitters all through the lineup is the real key to putting up numbers on the board. There in lies the challenge.:metal

Why does everyone believe that a leadoff hitter has to have blazing speed, and be a middle infielder or centerfielder. A leadoff man shouldn't be about blazing speed, he should be about getting on base. It doesn't matter how much speed the guy has if he can't get on base, because the leadoff man is supposed to produce runs, not steals. Runs are the name of the game, and if the sox need to put Carlos Lee at leadoff to score more runs then they damn well should.:metal
