    CF, C

Do you honestly think that KC is going to pick up Beltran's salary? HA! They don't have enough money to keep him there, why the hell would they give money to get rid of him when he's their best offensive weapon.
  2. You're forgetting that no one comes to the games...
  3. To be honest, even if the Sox can't resign Colon, Koch, Gordon, White, etc. it'll still be nice to see the Sox give it their all to try and go all the way this year. The Good Guys are BACK!
  4. Sanders won't make the team unless he beats out Jon Rauch for the job, which he won't. If the Sox do indeed carry 11 pitchers, forget about Almonte or Munoz making the squad, if they take 12, Almonte gets the job. This bullpen is pretty stacked, but I have to ask, how are they paying for all of this?
  5. The reason that Brownlie won't sign with the Cubs is because the pick after him, Guthrie, got a 3 mil signing bonus. It's only logical that he should want something on par with that, considering he was picked before him.
  6. When Royce is ready, my friend, Billy Koch won't be able to compete. Royce will enter the majors as a setup man, and send Koch packing when he's ready to take over.
  7. Jiminez is a switch hitter too
  8. Starters: Colon, Buerhle, Garland, Wright, Rauch Relievers: Koch, Marte, Gordon, Glover, Wunsch, Almonte, Ginter Lineup: 2B-Jiminez, SS-Valentin, DH-Thomas, RF-Ordonez, 1B-Konerko, LF-Lee, 3B-Crede, CF-Rowand, C-Olivo Bench: Alomar, Harris, Graffanino, Rios, Paul
  9. Don't expect Porzio to be on the opening day roster. I think Josh Paul will be on the bench at the start of the season
  10. Does anyone know anything about this kid?
  11. Although Colon is a little bit better pitcher, Vasquez is younger, cheaper, and is two years away from free agency. He would fit in perfectally behind Buerhle and in front of Garland.
  12. It looks like one more pitcher has been officially added to the Free Agent bin. Chuck Finley turned down the arbitration offer made to him, and if the Cards don't get him signed by tomorrow (1/9) then he will be able to sign with any team. It seems as though that out of the top three free agent pitchers, Ismael Valdes, Robert Person and Finley, he seems to be the most expensive but also the most reliable. I think if the Sox are looking for a 2nd starter, then Finley would be the way to go. However, if the Sox don't want to shell out the cash, then Garland should take the 2nd spot and Valdes or Person would take the third.
  13. She's alright. Royce Ring is a better pitcher, with better hair...
  14. Al Levine is a solid setup man. It is doubtful that the Sox will go after him, considering the bullpen is pretty full of good guys. As for Suppan, don't bet on it. He just isn't good. Sure, he was on a bad team, but his ERA was over 5, and it's been that way for more than five years.

    2003 Roster

Pitching Locks to make the team: Biddle, Buehrle, Garland, Glover, Koch, Marte, Osuna, Rauch, Wright, Wunsch Question Marks: Almonte, Ginter, Malone, Munoz, Porzio, Ritchie, Sanders, Stewart Not a chance: Adkins, Diaz, Lantigua, West Kenny Williams says the Sox may plan to only take 11 Pitchers into the regular season. This probably isn't a good idea when you have no idea whether or not your fourth and fifth starters will get you through the season. If the Sox go out and acquire a veteran pitcher, such as Daal, Valdes, Person, or Dempster, then carrying 11 pitchers seems more viable. If the Sox do plan to carry 11 pitchers, don't count on seeing Ed Almonte, but if they plan to go with 12, Eddy should be in a Sox uniform. Ginter has fallen out of favor with the organization, and may likely spend most of his year in AAA. Same thing goes for Porzio. Stewart, Malone, Sanders, and Munoz, all excellent young prospects will probably need some more seasoning in the minors. As for Ritchie, there is still a question mark as to whether or not he returns in a Sox uniform, but I would bet against it. If Ritchie does not return, the Sox will definately go after a pitcher in the Free Agent or trade market. The only problem is, how much longer will Person, Daal, and Valdes go without a team?
  16. Does anyone know all of the rules of arbitration. I don't think the Sox are allowed to talk to Ritchie until like May of next year or something. I'm not sure, will someone please clarify?
  17. What the hell are you people talking about. Konerko not great? Most replaceable? Please... shoot me now...

    Rowand

No doubt, but mike tyson was pretty small... but fearsome... Koch is fearsome... come on 50 saves!
  19. DUMP KONERKO?!?!?!? what is with everyone wanting to trade Franchise... You people have no loyalty! Williams gave him the contract that he deserves, because he is 'The Franchise'
  20. I wouldn't say goodbye to Paul just yet, he'll be playing a good load of games, considering Alomar may have a great deal of trouble staying healthy. I think he's a great pickup and will do wonders for Olivo's development.

    2003 Roster

It'll probably look more like this: Pitchers: Buerhle, Garland, Wright, Rauch, Biddle, Glover, Osuna, Marte, Ginter?, Wunsch, Almonte, Koch IF: Konerko, Thomas, Crede, Jiminez, Valentin, Harris, Graffanino, Olivo, Paul, Alomar OF: Ordonez, Liefer, Rowand, Lee One of these guys is going to end up being the odd man out, seeing is that I have 26 up there. I'm not too sure whether Williams is going to go after another FA pitcher, and I'd be dissapointed if he didn't.
  22. Ritchie was not offered arbitration by the Sox. I'm not sure if the Sox are allowed to further speak to him about a contract, but I don't think so. I don't think Todd is coming back, so another starter NEEDS to be acquired.
  23. The sox have to pick up another pitcher now that Ritchie is gone.
