Personally, I think the guy is a nutjob. Any professional athlete who talks about themselves in the third person ("Flash has proven he can close again") needs some therapy. I really don't think he's as good as he thinks he is, and I don't think he's as good as the dollar signs he wants. His numbers weren't stellar, besides his Ks/9 and the position of closer is highly overrated. Not to mention what's to say he won't succumb to injuries once again. Personally, I think the Sox should let him go to the highest bidder and go after a guy like Kline, Hawkins, or someone else.

There's no way that he should get as many at-bats as Rowand because plain and simple he's not as good as Rowand. He's shown he can't hit the ball, the only real weapon he has is his speed, but what good is speed when you can't get on base.
-
Right on...

Borchard can't hit the ball in AAA, what makes one think he can do it in the bigs. Reed is a stud, but I don't think he's quite ready for the show. It's time for Rowand to show the world what he can do. He's a ripper...

Experience doesn't always mean everything. Ozzie brings heart to a team that didn't have any and I guarantee he'll have a positive effect on the young players in the clubhouse as witnessed in Florida. He's learned from alot of top notch managers, and he'll have some good help from Nossek who's been around the league for a long time. I don't think he will be a fantastic manager in his first year, but I do think he will learn fast and become a very good manager in the years to come. No one will really know until next October, but I for one am happy with the decision to go with Guillen. And as a Sox fan to all you other Sox fans, even though you may not like it, let's wish him and our team the best.
-
The Trib called Guillen and he didn't answer his phone, which seems kinda odd for a guy like him. My guess is Ozzie's comin back to town.

Do any of you know any blackhawks fan boards where I can talk hockey?

It's not the number of pitches that makes a pitcher good. Zito really only has two pitches, and despite his numbers last year he is one of the top pitchers in the AL. I've never seen Yofu pitch so I personally can't judge him. But a bunch of pitches isn't going to impress me unless he can get the ball over the plate with consistency, fool hitters by keeping them off balance, and knowing how to work his way out of trouble.

I don't think anyone wants to see Maggs leave Chicago, and I personally don't think he will. However, would it be that big a loss (numbers-wise) seeing him leave to New York for Soriano and possibly a pitching prospect. Take a look at the numbers and while it would be sad to see Maggs leave, I don't think it would hurt the team on the field as much as many of you think it will. Especially if we got a young pitching prospect, or a Nick Johnson. AGE - 25 - 29 HR - 38 - 29 RBI - 91 - 99 SB - 35 - 9 BA - 290 - 317 OBP - 338 - 380 SLG - 525 - 546 OPS - 863 - 926 SAL - 800k - 14mil

If Ozzie Guillen doesn't bring one of his buddies over who might it be? Carlton Fisk might be a good choice to get him involved in coaching (not to mention bringing some good PR); he'd make a great manager one day.

Pardon my french, but Clemens is getting f***ed in the ass... I feel bad for his mom...

Am I the only one that's noticed Paulie's numbers since the Sox started winning?
-
Dejean would be awesome, at times he can be unhittable, and a winning team can change the attitude and effectiveness of a pitcher.
-
No matter what the numbers show, Maggs is probably the best Right Fielder in the major leagues, as well as a fan favorite. He is a franchise player, and to say that he's not worth that kind of money is just plain wrong.
-
Stewart probably won't return full time to the big leagues. He struggled with the Sox, he struggled after he got sent back down, and he's hurt now. Not much promise for him as of today.
-
Lee certainly isn't the best defensive outfielder out there, but he has improved alot, and is much better than Everett
-
Bartolo is faster than half of the team, it's like he's chasing after a cupcake whenever he runs, he's quick as lightning
-
You know what impresses me most about Esty. He said he hopes the Sox pick up the option, and doesn't care that he could make alot more money because he's happy here. He's not just a one year wonder, he learned he doesn't need to throw 96 mph, and has pinpoint control with a dominating cutter, that's not gonna change next year. He may not win 20 games, but he sure will remain the ace of the staff. I'm just worried about Colon staying put, which i don't think he will.

Alot of players look like a AAA for good player, but you never know, he could have found his stroke and turned into a different player. When someone is hitting that well in AAA he can for sure be hitting decent in the majors. I don't know how many of you pay attention to hockey. But there was an American named Brian Rafalski playing in the Finnish Elite League because no one thought he was good enough to play in the NHL, now he's with the Devils and is considered one of the best players in the league. It won't hurt anyone calling him up during the expanded roster period.
-
The reason Gagne is so dominant is because he changes speeds from 70-96 mph. Danny doesn't vary his speeds enough to be that effecting. He leaves too many pitches right over the plate and needs to be more confident with his breaking ball. For him to be a good closer, he's going to need alot of setup work to prove that he won't cough up big innings like he sometimes does.

Leadership is always an important part of a winning ballclub, and Robbie provides plenty of that.
-
Not I... Cotts may not have the best control, but he doesn't always throw it down the pipe leading to a 3 run game winning homer.
-
Is he finally starting to find his velocity? He was clocked at 96 the other day, and hopefully he's starting to get it back. Even if his control is off, zinging bb's will keep hitters off of his other pitches and make him alot more affective. I say let him eat up some innings that aren't too important and help him find his velocity. We need him to get his crap together in order to go far in the playoffs.
-
First off, anyone who says Cotts's ERA has been hurt needs to open up their eyes. He's leading the Southern League in ERA. The only reason his W-L record has suffered is that he's on a team that isn't the most run-producing. Cotts definately has the stuff to pitch in the bigs this year, however, his control isn't good enough. Control in AA is alot different than control in the MLB, because hitters are more patient and will wait for him to make a mistake. I personally don't think he is ready, however, the only way anyone will know is if he see him in action. My reccomendation is to put him against a team where we know he can win, and give him the confidence young pitchers so desperately need. Brian Cooper might be more affecting because he can provide more innings, and has really pitched very well for the Knights this year, and has Big League experience.

Colon was having arm problems earlier in the year, we don't need that coming back while in a pennant race. Plus... Who won? Exactally.
