  1. Quiz time! Who is the all time leading passer in Purdue history (football)?
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) Corporate Accounting Fraud isn't rampant, in fact we have had very, very few convictions of it. The fraud is illegal. Why not repeal the Sox requirements costing companies billions of dollars? The impact of corporate fraud is a greater risk. We all know what happens when corporations are not regulated properly.
  3. Jim Breuer did a good Goat Boy character. Would you sleep with him?

    Pools

    QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) It depends on the pool. They can be a money pit or can be easy to maintain. I worked at a pool for many years and it was a terrible money pit, our pumps and filters continually went out as did our chlorinator. For a smaller family style pool its much easier to use tablets for chlorine or bromine (hot tubs) and invest in a smaller cleaner that can automatically clean the bottom if you can. Or just hire a pool boy. Your wife won't mind.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) Another quality start last night vs Cleveland. 8-5, 3.49 ERA 13 quality starts out of 17. Holmberg has a 34 inning scoreless streak. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...;vkey=news_milb Who cares? We still have 3 months of Jackson. We clearly won that trade.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) Ozzie is so hypocritical on this issue, thats why no one respects it. After they pulled Rios, half the team dogged it to first on pop outs, fly outs etc. That means the benching made 0 impact. Even worse, the player who replaced Rios didnt even give 100% on a live ball in extra innings. If you are going to bench guys for not running to first base, you have to bench AJ, Konerko, Q, Ramirez and every other player who doesnt give 100% on a pop up. If you want to bench Rios because he hasnt been performing, just say it. But all Ozzie did was create a double standard. My guess is that he has completely lost the team. I just get a terrible vibe from the entire team right now. I find it difficult to argue the these points.
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 12:09 PM) GENIUS.
  8. Funny to go back through this thread and read some of the comments. We had so much optimism back then.
  9. QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) I don't mind Dunn being the DH but I can't believe how much the Sox overpaid for him. s***. When you consider that the Sox could get a much better hitter like Vlad Guerrero on a two or three year deal at $ 6-7 mil per or even Thome on a 1 year deal for $ 4-5 mil. and Thome's better at 41 than Dunn is at 31. There's just no way that Dunn as a DH and not even close to being one of the best hitters in baseball or even a valuable player should command $ 14 mil. per year. Pujols will get $ 25 mil. per and if he was only a DH he would get much less and he's three times the hitter. It's just a huge overpayment. And, now how do the Sox convince Konerko to take less money than Dunn when he is clearly a far better baseball player. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) Am I the only one who likes the Linebrink trade better than the Dunn deal Nice!
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) I know this is Jason's board. But for now all of Soxtalk belongs to WhiteSoxRandy. He clowned all of us. LINK
  11. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) Speaking of competent film makers, did you see Sam Raimi is directing a prequel to The Wizard of Oz? No but you've peaked my interest.
  12. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) I have little faith in our ability to fix hitters at any stop in our system. We promoted Brian Anderson with a monstrous swing. We promoted Danks who was striking out at 33% clip in AA. I believe we take Danks and place him in another organization and he is a good hitter. He came up and hit for extended periods of time. His swing has gotten worse not better. And it's not like he is dismissing our hitting coach. They hunt together in the offseason. So it's not like he is Swisher. I can't disagree with anything you said. That's why I want wholesale changes in management for this organization, all the way down to the scouting.
  13. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) What's really scary about Viciedo is his numbers after April when he was coming back from that fractured thumb. May - .349 / .410 / .615 / 1.025 June - .377 / .400 / .547 / .947 "But where would he play?!?"
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) there are plenty of movies on this thread that people have proclaimed to be great, foreign and domestic, and if you like them and i dont, thats fine. i wont tell you that synedoche, new york and doubt bored the s*** out of me immediately after you(and im not saying you, marko, im being general) proclaimed the movie to be great. thats just how i am, i dont want to rain on your parade right then. if i am asked i will tell you i do or do not like it. i know t3 is lowbrow, i know it isnt going to have a plot, i knew ebert would s*** on it. after i say i am going to see a movie, the bad reviews dont have to be thrown at me in an attempt to embarrass me for wanting to see it I'm completely cool with all of this. But as a fan of the Transformers from when I was a kid, I would have loved to have seen this series get produced and directed my some competent people.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:00 AM) The magic in his bat seems to be gone, as he's really struggling to make contact at the plate against righties. Indeed. You'd have to be blind to not have noticed this trend.
  16. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:00 AM) That was a great movie. Much better than I expected. And it didn't have to resort to the lowest common denominator tactics that Bay uses in all of his garbage films.
  17. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) Sending him down would be best option. I don't think a change in scenery defensively would make a difference at the plate...but you never know. From what I've seen this year, I wouldn't be upset if he were traded. I know it's hindsight but involving him in a package for A-Gon would have been fantastic.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) WOw at those numbers above. How the f*** can you not inject your BEST minor league player who also happens to be one of the best hitters if not the best in his league into your offense which is muddling around at league avg. It makes ZERO f***ING SENSE. I know KW wants him up, so when is it the time when he overrules Ozzie>? The situation is mind-boggling to say the least.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) I already consider him a bust. He isn't very good. Ditto
  20. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) I think about half would be, but I think the other half suffer from a lifetime of bad choices. People with incurable diseases tend to not last long, so even if they're expensive, it's a very short term expense. It's people who live in very poor health but stick around for 40 years that cost the system. Refer to this post.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:57 AM) Choice? They have no choice. They HAVE to eat crappy food to make them fat. Just like they HAVE to have a cell phone and premium cable to survive in this world. When garbage is marketed to people from an early age what do you expect the majority of people to gravitate to? It starts with sugar and HFCS infused cereals and goes all the way to fast food chains on every corner of every major street in America. The lobbies for meat, dairy, and corn have a ton of pull and they are able to offer that subsidized crap at a ridiculously low cost.
  22. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) I am starting to believe that the only way that Viciedo gets up is if KW can move CQ. I seriously doubt that. He'll be up next week and wind up playing about 2 games per week the rest of the way with a PH here or there mixed in.
