  1. Balta is the only person on Soxtalk that agreed with Walter Jacobson's opinion piece criticizing Paul Konerko for running the bases with a beer can after clinching it in 2000.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 09:09 AM) In terms of the LaRussa criticism...DUI is the issue. So being the all-loving liberal that you are you probably wanted Ozzie fired immediately for using homophobic words like f**. We can't have a manager treat people like that since he is a role model to the team. Note: I actually did want him fired because of it.
  3. Thanks for the heads up Steve. I'll definitely check it out.
  4. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) Picked up the Evo this past weekend. Best phone I've ever had. Only question is, my girlfriend got the same phone and she's having a problem receiving text messages and email on time. They'll be timestamped for a different time and that's when she'll receive them even though they're sent way earlier. Anyone know how to change this? Never happens with my phone and the phones are normally next to each other. I haven't had that problem but you might find something on it in these forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=619 Definitely bookmark them.
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 04:28 AM) I think the Tigers define under achieving more than the Sox. Some had the Tigers winning the Central. They lost quite a few of their important regulars due to injury in case you haven't read the papers this year.
  6. This thread just reminds me of how terrible of a decision KW made on extending Teahen. WTF was he thinking?
  7. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) larussa is slime. dont particularly care for the diet he puts his players on. Why? Did he force you to eat it as well?
  8. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) Ozzie's act was fun for the first couple of years too, but now it has gotten old. What a jerk. First he disses the fans and now he s***s on Nancy Faust. Why do people love this guy so much? He's not even a good manager.
  9. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) No s***, Larussa has 25 more years on him, if you look at their first 7 seasons, Ozzie's are more impressive. Larussa's teams make the post season at a much better rate than Ozzie's.
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Is LaRussa really that much better than Ozzie Guillen? http://www.baseball-reference.com/managers/larusto01.shtml
  11. I would be so happy if this happened.
  12. Looking at the box scores everyday is disheartening. Have we even won a game in the last 2 weeks because it sure doesn't feel like it. I am so sick of these end of year fizzles by this team. Something has to change for crying out loud.
  13. A small price to pay for an event like that.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) That'd be really cool to go to Fabric. When I was in Brazil they talked about taking me to this huge house festival on a beach that goes on for like 24 hrs straight but i would have been too poor to go anyway. It sounded pretty great though. Oh wow. That sounds awesome. I would have panhandled to go to that.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 08:36 AM) I thought it was great. My favorite scene was this: Affleck: I need your help...I can't tell you what it's about, you can never ask me about it later, and we're going to hurt some people. Renner: Whose car we taking? Yeah that was awesome. Renner was fantastic and very convincing as the local thug. And watching Affleck's films makes me wish that there was a young hot shot director from Chicago that filmed in the gritty streets of Chicago. It seems like most films in Chicago almost try to hide the fact that the film is in Chicago whereas Affleck embraces Boston.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 08:29 AM) I got that from the previews and the movie synopsis. Affleck is 2 for 2 now. He could turn out to be a great story teller of this era.

Thoroughly enjoyed The Town. Almost seems like a Bostonized remake of Heat but it was still quite good. And the main actress in it....
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) I wish you guys who talk about pitcher's parks and pitching in the NL would call Grobstien's show with your theory. He owned a guy who tried that last week. A good pitcher is a f***ing good pitcher. I don't care about the peripherals. Parks don't matter? Tell that to Mike Hampton.
  19. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) I know that would be sick! It is really tough to go out to places like Smartbar and spybar because all of my friends and girlfriend are not into electronic music, so any chance I get, I jump on it. If you are ever in London, you must check out fabric, Ricardo started at 9 AM, my girlfriend and I actually went to bed and woke up to go straight there LOL. There are many articles out there talking about how magical it is when he plays there, subs are actually connected to the dance floor so it bounces like a trampoline and he is VERY experimental there. It was pretty cool actually, for the first time at fabric the fire alarm had an issue and opened up the windows so the sun was peeking in, it was really cool Too bad he doesn't play in the states because of some unfortunate interrogations he had faced some years back. I will try to upload a couple pictures when I get home fabric also just came out with plans for their 11th birthday party, check out the date and time at the top, it's unreal how they party there http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=150507411647232 Yeah, I've always wanted to check out Fabric. I had a subscription to their mix series for quite some time. That can be hit or miss depending on the artist. You going to DEMF next year?
  20. I'm a big Villalobos fan. That must have been awesome. Juan Atkins is playing tonight at Smartbar.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) Really...no it isn't. There are 5 teams in that division. If the dice fell completely at random...each team would win the division 2 times every 10 years. What does this have to do with randomness? The Royals have a zero% chance of winning the division in a 10 year span.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) I could see him staying on for another year or two somewhere if he really wanted to. I just can't see him going anywhere that isn't obviously loaded and ready for an immediate playoff run. The Chicago White Sox say hi.
