White Sox vs. Orioles, 7:10pm, CSN
BigSqwert replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in 2010 Season in Review
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 09:44 PM) Cause what's the point of having Pierre if you're not going to let him steal to get into scoring position. You might as well have an OBP god like Thome being your leadoff hitter if you're not going to trust him. Now, if Pierre is on 2nd base and no outs, I'm fine with the bunt. I wonder why Ozzie changed his philosophy. He always had Pods steal 2nd in 2005 instead of bunting him over. And god our bullpen f***ing blows. -
QUOTE (Stocking @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) Got an Evo last week, loving it. Congrats! Love mine too.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) cst_sox Oz was asked if he would want Manny - "I don't know. But I will have to say yes because Kenny will get him anyway." Well, it's nice to know that Ozzie doesn't want Manny and will probably have him platoon DH with Kotsay.... Ozzie creates this piece of crap DH rotation that has sucked all year and he doesn't know if he wants Manny?!? Please retire after this season Ozzie.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) I repeat, Kila would have hit one of the longest home runs in KC history. They must have based that show Quantum Leap after you.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) No I wouldn't. There are plenty of times games get played when people don't expect it. If our technology was so great, than why are weather men wrong quite often. The fact of the matter is, while you have info to predict, you don't know for sure what might happen and when you are told to start the game, you start it. Ozzie and every other manager in baseball would do it. At this point, you are just second guessing to second guess. We're not talking about the 5 day forecast. I'm referring to looking at live radar an hour before the game. Bossard and his crew are excellent at timing when storms will hit and have delayed many games because of the live radar.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 09:49 AM) I thought Steve Stone was off this weekend? What is he saying? It could be the something big is Thornton going on the DL and Threets being reactivated and that's it Didn't he also say we would see a huge move at the trade deadline? I guess he meant we'd give up our cheap #4/5 starter for the next 5 years for an expensive 14 month rental.

Dead last in caught stealing in baseball. We also have the most sac bunts in the AL. Ozzie is in the wrong league. While our opponents try to out bash us we are playing for one run all of the time.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 09:36 AM) The Sox have to play much better baseball starting tomorrow. But, that alone won't get the job done. They will have to rely on some other teams beating the Twins and/or the Twins falling apart. One would think that the Twins can't keep up their pace (the Sox didn't after a while). The question is whether it will be too late when and if they falter. The problem is that the Twins are having their run against AL teams whereas we did it against primarily NL teams. Just look at our division and league record. Can we all of a sudden turn that around? Maybe but it's not likely and we have no more NL teams on the schedule to beat up on.
-
QUOTE (Little Nell @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 08:58 AM) I hope your'e right, if we don't get to more than 5 games out we have a chance, the 3 games against the Twins in September are going to be crucial. Yeah but since when did we get the ability to sweep them? Odds are we won't so we better be within a game or 2 by that point.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 08:51 AM) You don't see how anyone could argue that the Twins are more talented than the Sox? No. The other way around.
-
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 08:47 AM) I think the Twins have more talent than some think. But, you're right that they play much better baseball than the Sox do, and the Sox aren't lacking in the talent category. I believe the Twins are just a better team. I don't see how anyone could argue otherwise.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 07:56 AM) Will we have access to soxtalk? Yes but it will be on a LAN including only those in the bomb shelter.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) I had put this in my Blockbuster queue when you posted this, and just got it the other night and watched it tonight. s***, you're not kidding. That is the scariest movie I have ever seen I think...no exaggeration...and I'm not sure the part at the end makes me feel better or not. Thanks for ruining my life, Sqwert. Don't worry. You can join me in my 5000 sq ft bomb shelter I'm constructing.

Tired? I guess this rotating DH solution wasn't so beneficial after all.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) Cause there was nobody out. You bunt him over and knock him in and all is well. The second guessing starts when you don't knock him in. Then why is he managing different than in 2005 where he would let Pods steal 2nd all of the time and then bunt him over?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 09:11 PM) What's wrong with bunting the winning run over with nobody out in a tie game in the late innings? A: Nothing. Almost every manager would do that especially with Vizquel batting. If Pierre steals and gets thrown out you'd all want Ozzie's job for that as well. Why bring in a guy and pay him millions to be the speed guy on the team, have him lead all of baseball in stealing, and then proceed to treat him as if he were Paul Konerko on the bases late in the game?

Happy birthday fellas!

Should be an awesome turnout against Baltimore this week.
-
1-10 with RISP against the Royals. Ouch.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) I swear, if the Sox lose on a walkoff hit tomorrow, this site is going to crash. Indeed. We'd all be wondering why the f*** they're playing on an off day.
-
Unfortunately even the most optimistic are losing hope.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) What I don't get is that Ozzieball is playing to set up a run if we get another hit in the inning. If you want to bunt, at least bunt when there's a runner on 2nd and no outs. I have no problem playing for a sacrifice fly...which is ironic, because I cannot remember any sac flies since the first game after the ASB. Ozzieball will probably only work when you have a team ERA hovering around 3 to 3.25. Otherwise it's completely pointless in the AL.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) I don't blame this game on the pitching at all. Jenks had a ballsy performance. What did we give up today? 3 or 4 outs?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) Saw this on another site, but wouldn't it be nice to be a Royals fan to see that your leadoff hitter is allowed to try and steal a base in a crucial situation? Don't question Ozzie ball. If you don't like it f*** you and don't watch.
