Gamethread: White Sox (58-45) vs A's (52-51) 1:05PM WGN/WSCR
BigSqwert replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2010 Season in Review
So as Lillibridge and Viciedo continue to produce when given the chance and Kotsay continues his season-long slump, what can Ozzie's rationale be for keeping Kotsay when Teahen returns? -
The moron Cowley sums it up best:

QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) I'm envisioning alot of freaking out when he is sent to Charlotte soon. But... I suggest that it is both inevitable... and a good thing. Inevitable because we will have to play a few roster games due to scheduling, who's going to start in doubleheaders, bringing back Teahen, etc. A good thing because he should not be sitting on the bench waiting for an occasional at-bat. Get him regular playing time so he can help us later in the season. We know we've got a good asset in Dayan. Sending him down is not a demotion. It may simply be necessary and the right thing to do. I completely disagree with your last sentence. Why send down a guy who is actually helping the team now so that we could keep a guy on the team that is not contributing at all?

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 09:04 AM) I like Kotsay's defense at 1B, and just common sense says they like Kotsay a lot. Whether we like it or not, Kotsay isn't going anywhere when Teahen comes back. I never wish injury upon a player but I wouldn't shed a tear if Kotsay pulled up lame in his next game.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 08:42 AM) I think it's a lot more likely Lillibridge will be sent to AAA when Teahen comes back. Kotsay won't get dumped. Why keep two guys that are almost identical except that one can actually hit?
-
All I gotta say is that Kotsay better be DFA'd upon Teahen's retutrn. There is no need for him at that point. Teahen can take his place as the DH lefty platoon with Jones while Viciedo and Vizquez can platoon at 3b. Lillibridge needs to stay on the bench for speed and PHing duties.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 03:42 AM) ABANDON ALL HOPE Indeed. Kenny failed to get us the bat we needed and we won't be getting it this year.
-
Have we ever picked up a pitcher with great stuff but needed some tweaking and that guy has turned it around that same season?

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) Waiver Wire Trades. August 30th. Understand now? So I guess another 30 days of Kotsay is a great idea especially with Morneau coming back.

Any why aren't wee hearing a push for Larouche?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) Oh I agree....I'm just trying to brace them for nothing more happening today I'd bet anyone $ that the man in dreadlocks is on this team by the end of August. I dunno. That's a lot of money to pick up for a 1 month rental when we can't even crack 30K on a Friday night in July when we're in 1st place.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) See, I agree with this as well But at the end of the day I don't think we have the roster to overtake NY or Tampa in the post season.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:05 PM) But not by name. I think it was obvious who he was referring to.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) I was backing up a previous post as to where I heard the Heyman and Brown stuff. Ah my bad.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) He did? Just hearing some snippets from the press conference yesterday and interviews over the past 24 hours indicated that.
-
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) Heyman and Brown were just on MLB Network And?
-
QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:45 PM) I must have missed that. What happened? He publicly questioned Rizzo and his tactics. There was no need to air that in my opinion.
-
No way we get Dunn IMO. Can't imagine Rizzo wanting to deal with KW after Kenny publicly talked s*** about Rizzo yesterday.
-
At this point I think we're stuck with the dismal rotating DH debacle.
-
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) That's a lot of time. It is CLEAR Kenny wants a bat, IMO we will be acquring a bat before 3. He will make 2 last minute calls: 2:49- KW: Mike it's Kw you ready to move Dunn. Chose your pick of 4 or 5 prospects plus Santos. Or EJax+ one or two spects. Hopefuly his price would be down by then. I'm sure KW hasn't even called Rizzo today has him sweating over no calls and Manny rumors. If he says no.... 2:56- KW calls LA and offers Flowers+Morel or pitching for Manny and his salary. A last minute call to Rizzo doesn't give us an opportunity to deal for another starter if EJax is dealt.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:23 PM) there's a little longer title for it, but if you google that with "steroids" it should be easy to find, it's a documentary about steroids and it's very neutral, I think you would find it interesting. *searches Netflix streaming* link

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) Go for it KW as long as the price is right. Manny can be an offensive plus still and play DH and spell in the OF from time to time No to that. Hell no.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) I'm not asking this to argue or agree with you, just since you are passionate about juicers, have you seen "Bigger, Faster, Stronger"? The Daft Punk video?
