QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) KW would consult with OZ and PK and Buerhls before s day like this. And prob has. Oz would love him. I wish he wouldn't.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) For the guys that don't like the juicing, fine, I won't even try to convince you. But the guys concerned about the injuries....look, if it's Manny or nothing, assuming we give up none of Viciedo/Flowers/Mitchell, what do you care if we take the risk? Isn't it worth taking? Ultimately yes.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:15 PM) Which are a lot less likely to occur when you're not throwing, running routes, jumping and diving and straining to make defensive plays. Yeah but he won't be allowed to use a Segway to round the bases. Come on!

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:09 PM) Jermaine Dye. A bunch of spiders say "hi".

QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) Couple of quick thoughts... 1. I'd love to have Manny and the Sox have done a great job over the past 10 years or so of keeping "injury prone" players more healthy than other teams have been able to (TCQ being the main exception). Like who?
-
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:03 PM) Pretty sure Maggs was a juicer, based on the Ozzie comments after he left the team. And we had Albert Belle.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) This time, strained right calf, 3rd time on the DL this season. He played 1 game after coming back from a strained hamstring and then was pulled with tightness in his calf. He's basically been gone since late June. Ugh, pass! Sure for nostalgia's sake he sounds good but the dude can't stay healthy.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) He's pregnant

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) Let's note 1 thing...Manny's had a total of 220 PA's this season. Mark Kotsay has 253. Mark Kotsay has played a lot more than Manny Ramirez. Why is he on the DL?
-
QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) you are supposed to use a green font for those types of posts. When it's that obvious you don't.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) yeah i dont want DH's with .317/.409/.516 either...id rather we kept kotsay *giggles*
-
Please get Dunn!! I don't want Manny.
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:40 AM) We got Peavy when he was on the DL too. Primarily for the following season and not the stretch run.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:38 AM) I'd rather have Viciedo than Manny for the remainder of this season. Ditto. And what's the deal with Manny? He on the DL right now? Why the hell would we even want him so we could platoon him with Kotsay? Ugh. I'll pass.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:39 AM) I think the asking price for Scott is more absorbitant than we realize... BTW off topic, the wife won't be joining me on my work trip next month to Vegas.
-
That's a big "IF" on that last part caulfield. And can we fix it during the stretch run or will it take an off-season to work on?
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:28 AM) Same here. I'd almost rather have Scott than Dunn since he can actually play a little bit of the outfield. Would he also be a 2 month rental?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) And, in all fairness, there were at least 3 other teams that Berkman crossed off his list and blocked a possible trade to yesterday, maybe 4. Certainly, not JUST the White Sox. This always ends up as "such and such player won't come to Chicago because of Ozzie Guillen" or "Guillen was listed among the least favorite managers to play for..." or whatever. But nobody's calling Mike Scioscia a manic micro-manager when D.Lee refuses to go to the Angels. And the fact of the matter, why would we want a player who doesn't want to play for the White Sox? Fine, it's just like NCAA basketball or football scholarships, they can go elsewhere and we'll continue to take the player who New York casts aside like Jose Contreras and El Duque and beat them with heart, desire and the ever-present "chip on our shoulder/us against the world" mentality KW and Ozzie like to inculcate. If anything, I think one of the challenges Minnesota has had to deal with this year is knowing how to be the favorite and not the underdog, overachieving team that stalks the big-city, big-budget bullies. When the shoe's on the other foot, it's not quite so easy to motivate the players, as Gardenhire has learned this season. Those are some excellent points.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:18 AM) You certainly cannot believe Greg Walker gets a pass and the pressure is on Cooper. That really is beyond a reach. Supposedly KW said they noticed a flaw with Jackson. Maybe its just talk, but he was pretty good in the AL in 2008 and 2009 and can bring it up there at 97. Who knows, maybe if Peavy is healthy and Freddy comes back next year, Jackson is a closer. That's not out of the realm of possibilities. Weren't the Nats considering him as their closer?

Let's get some s*** worked out with a big bat today and get it done in the next hour or so. I don't want to waste a nice Saturday refreshing my phone's internet browser every 10 seconds.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:54 AM) Don't bother to watch The Crazies. I thought it was a decent popcorn film although I had no expectations going in.
