  1. At this rate I'd give Walker an open end contract. Let him leave on his terms.
  2. I see the extra work Walker has put in with the hitters is paying off.
  3. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) I ignore the radar gun. I'm going to ignore you.
  4. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 07:30 PM) I take it Peavy has NO off speed stuff. According to Gameday he's mixing it up anywhere from 82 to 93 mph. Which game are you watching?
  5. If that happens I will seriously consider moving to Canada.
  6. Time out. What's going on in here now?
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) Of course not - that wasn't the plan anyway. The plan was to build some new housing that was high grade enough to draw non-assisted buyers, but assisted buyers would be mixed in, and then to provide assistance with housing costs in the open market for most of them. Sure that sounds great in theory but look at how it really turns out. Look at University Village as one example.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) And they shouldn't. +1
  9. When you say you can see Chicago what does that mean? A small speck of what looks like the Sears Willis Tower? Wind turbines are much smaller than that and probably wouldn't be as easy to spot 30 miles out in the water. And if they are then build them 40 or 50 miles out.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) I live in Michigan City, and I can see Chicago from my beach most days. That is 30 miles over the water. But isn't it 30 miles across the shore line as in my rudimentary drawing? I'm talking out in the middle.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) I would guess the same reason they aren't off of Cape Cod... NIMBY's. If they were far enough off shore no one would even see them.
  12. So this is what Kap has been working on while unemployed.
  13. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) Agreed, but am I the only one who's getting tired of Michael's character? It just seems that he's extremely annoying or stupid compared to previous seasons. I wish they took a more subtle approach with him. His over-the-top stupidity is too unbelievable. No one in the workplace would have lasted as long as he has at Dunder Mifflin. That's why I prefer the David Brent character so much more than Micheal Scott.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 01:18 PM) I meant the royal "you", but, do you agree with the writer here or not? To some extent. I wouldn't paint with a broad brush but when you go to a rally and stand next to someone holding a sign like the one in that photo, I have to wonder what kind of person you are.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 01:01 PM) It means that you are taking the motivations of some % of a group, and applying it to all of them. Really? I thought I said this:
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 12:51 PM) Those things are true, for SOME of the people complaining. Not sure what % the "some" is, and neither are you. Not sure what that means.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 10:38 AM) So even if the $4.4B comes into play, or we get a worse case than that and make less or no money, its still a win for the city. And what if we don't even break even?
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 12:45 PM) If you're so concerned about the "poor people" getting screwed, why do you want the games going to Rio? What do you think will happen to the thousands of people currently living in the favelas? I'd be fine with the Olympics being abolished.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 12:31 PM) The ones who will end up with nicer, newer homes, which is what the village will become after the Olympics? And will get them for very little money, and get to own a home a tall? Those ones? I don't know the temporary arrangements of anyone already IN that location, but I know the plan is to use the village as income-assisted housing for poor people. That's one of the nice benefits of this. Poor people always get screwed. I've seen firsthand what's happened in Atlanta with the displaced.
  20. Interesting reader email from Sullivan's blog...
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 12:27 PM) What displaced poor people? The ones living in the proposed Olympic Village site.
  22. What about all the displaced poor people?
  23. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 11:55 AM) As for the Olympics I am still not sure why people do not want them other than, they just don't want them. I'm not sure why people want them here. The Olympics aren't a panacea for all that is wrong here.
