  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) Give em Jell, Havy. I was waiting for you to say that.
  2. I'd love to see their bullpen in the 3rd inning.
  3. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 12:30 PM) The Rays are the new sweet hearts of ESPN. I think they automatically default to the AL East team regardless of who it is.
  4. Remember the 1st playoff game in 2005? I wouldn't mind seeing a repeat performance today.
  5. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 12:03 PM) McCain is pulling out of Michigan
  6. I selected Jr to appease you.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 12:03 PM) Do I need to educate you about Pick to Click and how it works? Bite me. I know how it works.
  8. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) I think Harold Reynolds said he was flying to Tampa after the Blackout. He can be the Chris Berman of 2008. When we beat up on the Rays we can hear him scream "Oh no!"
  9. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) You miss the point. Whoever picked the moderator knew about the book as well, and she should have never been offered the spot. Can't they find someone who at least doesn't appear to want one side or the other to win? And you missed my point. The McCain OK'd the choice of Ifill even though they knew about the book. Perhaps they saw a built in excuse in case Palin performed poorly?
  10. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 12:08 PM) ...and no mentions of the moderator having a book about the political success of Barack Obama coming out on the day of inaugaration, which whould sell much better if Obama is actually President. The McCain camp knew about the book beforehand. They could have asked for a different moderator.
  11. I'm guessing it's "Bring the Ruckus" by the Wu Tang Clan. Family friendly and a wonderful melody.
  12. in other news, the McCain campaign released new scrolls to send out on their fleet of carrier pigeons.
  13. For all the talk about experience vs youth, we have 2 pitchers on our roster from the 2005 team.
  14. One shot for every time you are forced to cringe by either of the candidate's responses.
  15. David Letterman: Top Ten "Things Overheard At Palin Debate Camp" 10. "Let's practice your bewildered silence." 9. "Can you try saying 'yes' instead of 'you betcha'?" 8. "Hey, I can see Mexico from here!" 7. "Maybe we'll get lucky and there won't be any questions about Iraq, taxes or healthcare." 6. "We're screwed!" 5. "Can I just use that lipstick-pit bull thing again?" 4. "We have to wrap it up for the day -- McCain eats dinner at 4:30." 3. "Can we get Congress to bail us out of this debate?" 2. "John Edwards wants to know if you'd like some private tutoring in his van." 1. "Any way we can just get Tina Fey to do it?"
  16. The play at the plate was my favorite moment. The place was on fire for the next few minutes with everyone standing on their feet going insane.
  17. Damn I am jacked up today. Will be tough to get any work done today.
  18. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 05:54 AM) Keep in mind I do NOT support Sarah Palin. However, two things come to mind here. 1- These questions were meant to throw her off. Most of the time, these questions are vetted well in advance and you can almost tell by her reaction to the questions, she's like WTF are you asking me this for? 2- Of course Katie Couric was trying to make Palin look bad and incompetent and stupid. That's her job. This was absolutely "GOTCHA" journalism at its best. I'll add: 3- The debate tonight is going to be just as bad, if not worse. You know the moderator is going to play "GOTCHA" as much as she possibly can. Again, it's her job. These people are in the tank for RSO and don't anyone try to defend that, because it's true. It's funny that she asked Biden the same question regarding supreme court cases and he wasn't phased. But you can keep making excuses for her.
  19. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) Wow! All of the displeasure with Wise is exactly what a not-smart person would say. He's definitely been in a slump for a week plus. Swish was in slumps for months at a time. Someone complained that Wise strikes out too much, evidently without noting that Swish has 135 strikeouts in 153 games. Wite, you said you don't think he's all that fast. He's always looked fast to me, and is 9 for 9 in stolen bases. Clearly not just a Owens-like track star, he's slugging .450 (better than Swisher)- hit 15 homers between AAA and the majors this year in about 320 at bats. An a team full of walk/strikeout/homer sluggers, it's pretty darn sensible to have him in there to vary the attack. Seems clearly like a case of Sox fans only being able to remember the vary immediate past. He's had a bad week. Overly emotionally react and say he sucks, forget about hating Swisher and his .219 batting average because you haven't seen him play in a while. ^^^^^
