  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) Joey Cora wasn't a bad 3rd base coach, he was f***ING HORRIBLE. Cox has made some boneheaded decisions this year but overall he's been ok. Cora would do something ridiculously bad, like wave Paul Konerko around on an infield single or something equally dumb. Indeed. One of the worst I've seen in my 34 years.
  2. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 01:46 PM) How do people think Cox has done overall as a 3rd base coach this season? Has he been an upgrade on Razor Shines and / or Joey Cora? Overall I think he's doing a fine job.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) Refresh me, if you will. He was Jenks' fluffer in 2006.
  4. Insane... LINK
  5. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) ..so we all could essentially make a thread for our 50 favorite players? Heh.
  6. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:02 AM) Again, that was one of my reasons that BA is a current favorite of mine. Again, name a criteria that every one of your picks has. I liked Ozzie for his defense, competitiveness, and fire, I really dislike his comments and some character issues. I love Baines for his offense and character. I have no idea if either one went to college. Should I have left one or both off my list? I'm done with this. I wasn't trying to single you out Tex. I was just confused to why anyone would consider him an all time favorite and no one seemed to give a good reason. Heck, look at the first post. There's nothing in it to provide people an explanation as to why he's a fan favorite.
  7. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:57 AM) So the player has to have accomplishments to be your favorite? Why is college grad not a good reason? I also spent some time on Arizona's campus, they were a customer of mine, and saw him play in college. Is that a good reason in your book? It just seems like you made it up to shut me up. Of 100+ years of baseball he's the only college grad that played with the Sox? Aren't there hundreds, if not thousands, besides him that were actually good players or great people off the field?
  8. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:52 AM) The Olympics are here. Thank God. Cool. That means negative McCain attack ads!
  9. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) Logic isn't going to get you anywhere on this one. Again, whatever. I can see why a utility type player like Ozuna or Graffanino might make the list. They add a little spark here or there, occasionally make a clutch hit, etc. I honestly am dumbfounded on BA as an overall top all time favorite. He's literally done nothing on or off the field.
  10. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:36 AM) I see baseball players as role models. So when BA was out partying every night instead of getting to the ballpark early and working harder to improve his game, was that part of the hard work ethic you like your role models to convey?
  11. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:36 AM) I see baseball players as role models. I work woth youth and the more examples of guys staying in school and getting educations, the better. There are some other reasons as well. What single criteria fits for all of your choices? I don't understand why you and others are confused about this. Of the 100+ years of White Sox baseball a very lousy player who has zero accomplishments, no on screen persona, isn't a renowned donor to charity, or has any other likeable qualities has made a list of all time fan favorites. How could you not expect people to scratch their head on this one? I haven't heard a single good reason as to why he's cracked the top 500 list let alone the top 50.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) the thing is, from a depth level the flobots stupid lyrics are just as shallow. It's like poetry read in my creative writing class in high school. I'm much rather listen to clever verses showing off bravado than that. And when did the cool kids started rapping about anything? I like them, but they switched out benz's and shoes for bikes and shoes. Did you mean benz's and ho's?
  13. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:26 AM) No. There probably isn't one thing that fits everyone on my list besides playing for the White Sox. Then I guess I'm confused as to why BA is on your list. Graduating college seems like an odd reason for someone to be one of your all time favorite Sox players. But whatever.
  14. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:22 AM) OK. I like Brian because he graduated from college instead of going straight to the major leagues. Does everyone on your list fit that criteria?
  15. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:06 AM) How can you debate someones favorite? By asking them why it's their favorite.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) You know he deserves it. Sorry, I'm too busy fawning over Brian Anderson pop out highlights.
  17. QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 08:49 AM) I'm pretty sure that Obama is already the president for all of the MSM. Well we all know it's a foregone conclusion.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) BIG difference between questioning results and acting like the way some of reacted in this thread. True. A civil debate shouldn't be discouraged though. It adds to the desire of going through lists like this.
  19. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 08:31 AM) Holy f***. How the hell hard is it to get, people? It's not about PERFORMANCE, it's about who your favorite is and why!!! Oh come on now. You can't expect to see a list of 50 favorite players and not expect people to question some of the results. What's the point of even doing this if people can't comment.
  20. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 08:26 AM) Why the hell is it so hard for some of you to understand the difference between "favorite" and "best"? If my personal favorite was Jaime Navarro and I had a personal story to back it up, he's my FAVORITE, not the BEST. Now, I'd have to have my head examined (), but if there's an experience that makes him my favorite, please allow me to keep those good times. I'm not seeing any good Brian Anderson back stories. I can think of maybe 2 or 3 games, tops, that he truly made a difference.
  21. That's all I needed to hear. Thanks.
  22. I wonder if this guy is a redneck?
  23. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) No need to click the link the answer is always Yes it can. And you are correct.
  24. I see that the Rays picked up Chad Bradford. He's having a pretty good year so I'm wondering why we couldn't pick him up, especially since our pitching has been atrocious as of late.
