  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Weren't the Phillies better w/o Rowand in CF this year? i guarantee the fans of Philly love the way he plays! he has so much pete rose in his demeanor! when he returned to the lineup the entire stadium stood up and cheered him like they no other...he represents...
  2. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He wasn't the best thing since sliced bread, but he was the starting centerfielder for the World Champion White Sox. He wasn't the best player around, but he did stabilize the outfield which made it a much better defensive outfield than it has been in 2006. And despite his shortcomings, he did bust his ass and left it all on the field every night. At least give the guy his due for all that. He should always be remembered as a key part of the 2005 Sox. my lord at least you have the balls to support...
  3. QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aaron Rowand wasn't a MAJOR contributor. they say you win if you are strong up the middle....hmmmm he was one of the first pieces in the building process that ultimately led to his wearing a WS ring with the rest of the 2005 guys! book it!
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What was he going to re-evaluate at the ASB? Everyone in the world thought we'd coast to the playoffs with a 6 game lead in the WC. We did keep the major contributors from the postseason. go back and read VASOXFANs allstar post....you laughed at his wisdom....!
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can I borrow the Crayon you are using. Damn KW for not keeping Timo, Willie, Marte, Viz, and El Duque. If El Duque was our 5th starter he would have like 30 wins. that isnt a crayon...its your lipstick...red doesnt look good on you....
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We at soxtalk sincerly apologize for insulting your mancrush. You are right, stats be damned, he is the bestest hitter and most clutch guy in the history of baseball. If he was on this team right now, he would of had a stooge convention and we would of won 140 games. Freddy would be throwing 98 mph if he had seen Rowand in CF. i have a mancrush on you not AROW! sorry Kalapse....you thougth i was your lover...LOL!!! hopefully i get a chance to meet my fellow sox fans.... at least we will go down swinging in the forum....since our players wont!!!!!!
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didnt spit on him. He was a good player, he played good defense. He however is not the demigod you make him out to be. He is not the reason that this team is not playing good. If the difference between this team making the playoffs is rowand. Then break the team up and start over, because that is retarded reason for a team to lose. since you arent able to have a memory here we go one more time: take notes please for gods sake! YOU RESPECT YOUR WS CHAMPION PLAYERS BY KEEPING THEM! AT LEAST THE MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS! GM couldve reevaluated at All-Star break....
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't you know that it is trying hard that wins, not actual talent. OK you guys all convinced me...i am a dillusioned sox fan...and AROW meant nothing but bad to the team during his career...THANK GOD WE NOW HAVE THE EVERCLUTCH JIM THOME!!!!! LOL!!!!
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I really dont know how to respond to this. I use stats, and measurable evidence to support my point. And you smile and giggle at your autographed Rowand poster and dream of last year and the 3 stooges. i respect Arow as a baseball player...you spit on him and bring up .230 average to support your dislike...
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're beyond insane. your possible gay lover?
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well the Ozzeroo with another great pitching decision. 8th inning after 4 runs given up, lets keep the starter in there. Kalapse, did you see where Cooper was on the pregame and was saying that Freddy wasnt healthy for most of the year. And he is finally feeling good, and didnt want to miss a start because he is a gamer. The excuses and the pitty party for the 2006 whitesox have begun. if i am a GM i ask my pitching coach to handle every issue with pitching. Ozzie shouldnt even be involved...
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Enough of the Rowand splooging. Lets dispell some of the great Rowand couldnt let this team lose crap. If he couldnt settle for losing, why did he basically stop hitting when the going go tough. .245 BA in August with a .286OBP and a .729OPS .235 BA in September with a .313OBP and a .705OPS And Mr. Clutch for close and late batted a robust .221 ok enough already Dr. LaRussa. you are killing me with these silly stats. Arow did more with those averages than Thome has done the entire last 4 months. for that ROSS GLOAD has been better for our team in his short spell in the lineup than JT! could there be a correlation between our losing late and Arows .230 average? did we win when he hit well? hmmmm....
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought he was going to be a great player....but shockingly, he couldn't contribute as well in 2005 as he could in 2004. I think people forget that he was clearly our worst player down the stretch and in the postseason. this is so true about his performance late last year. JContreras picked up the entire team last year or we never wouldve made the playoffs. mark my words that we wont win again until we find another Arow type of guy!
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am sure that you loved when he K'd like 8 times in a row over a 2 game period. And I believe he did that like twice. more like i never trusted his throws to first....good range....just a heart attack throw waiting to happen
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 06:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have no ill will toward you, I do however think the "lack of Rowand" argument is a crock of s***. you didnt feel anything special about Arow when he first came to the sox? man i remember telling my wife the first time i saw him play "this is the kinda guy that will win a WS for the sox". dont you remember he didnt get to play right away under Jerry Manure? i was dying to see that guy play everday and see what he would contribute. he presented self confidence, hard work, & desire. when he didnt play well he wore it on his face & chest. i like a guy on the team that can lead thru difficult times. i could just tell that he wasnt going to be the kinda guy who wasnt going to settle for losing. look he certainly wasnt the team last year but IMO he represented what defines champions from winners...
  16. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Same as Thome lately. Thome just cant handle pressure situations...
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's why people always bring up "intangables" with Rowand because the very definition of the word makes debate impossible. look back on all the players that are true champions...the all possess the intangibles...
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And IMO you're certifiably insane. LOL..that was a pretty rude comment...but oh well... the most misunderstood aspect of this site is that it is ez to hate on here but when we meet wearing the same gear at the park we love each other to death...strange but true...
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> #2 is a worthless argument, as we were in a great position at the ASB. 6 games up on the Wild Card is as good as you can ask for, especially since the Tigers were playing such amazing baseball. worthless eh? well what if Frank had the second half in Oakland wearing a Sox uni? dont ever underestimate the persona that character, attitude, and comradery have on a team! IMO AROW's marked stamp on this club "will to win" is the missing piece to this club in the second half...
  20. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Give it a rest. We aren't losing because we let go of Rowand and Frank. Our starting pitching hasn't been there, our leadoff man hasn't done anything, and we have a manager who makes no adjustments. there are 2 things that i will remember even after i am dead: 1. why did we let wilbur marshall go? 2. why didnt we stay with the WS ballclub at least until around the Allstar break and then gauge improvements?
  21. the most amazing aspect of this ballclub is that NOBODY ever seems to show frustration over performance other than AJ & MB.... i said before that Frank Thomas & Aaron Rowand were the heart & soul of our ballclub...but after a couple of days I would rather say that they were the "will to win" to the team... is it just me or is JThome not coming up clutch in key situations? he is having a good stat year but i cant remember the last time he came thru in a pressure at bat...
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I surely do miss Rowand hitting .245 in August, and .235 in September. And not showing up in the playoffs. God I wish I still had that on our team. Frank Thomas, the heart and soul of the whitesox. LMAO@You i guess you dont quite see the intangibles in a player do you... i remember AROW as about as clutch as needed...need a bunt...done...need a key walk...done...need a sac fly...done...need to get hit by pitch...done...need to hit the ball the other way...done...there is no doubt that he tired last year at the end....but i want that guy on my team no matter what! as for your FT comment...i guess you are too young to remember the young FT that came to our team and was a stud from the beginning...he is like Jerry Rice to the SF niners & Walter Payton to the Bears...HE WILL ALWAYS BE THE HEART & SOUL OF THE WHITESOX...do you get it? now maybe you could be more like Tony LaRussa and provide me with some of your neat little stats...?
  23. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The past month or so I've wondered what it'd be like having Rowand and Thomas in our lineup. A lot of people said we'd miss Rowand and I was not one of them. I've been proven wrong now. we havent looked like a team with a bunch of "gamers" for a long while now... i will say this one more time...there is no reason to break up a WS team until the midway point of the next season...then you consider major moves to improve if needed...
  24. the reasons we arent winning? Aaron Rowand Frank Thomas we let the heart & soul of the team go bye bye... sad very sad...
  25. Joe Borchard goes yard! woot woot happy for him!
