  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) Quickly, if possible, is there any doubt of his guilt/innocence? Secondly.. did she say innocent...? she probably did. but i don't know for sure, i just like making fun of her. And yes, there are a lot of people claiming he is innocent and that "Tookie" was the victim of a racist conspiracy.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) LMAO.... The original idea for prisons was rehabilitation? No. It was for punishment. exactly punishment designed to persuade and prevent people from committing crimes.
  3. c'mon guys, Bett Midler says he's innocent... thats enough for me. FREE TOOKIE!
  4. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) I misunderstood you. I thought you were being serious. Thanks for clearing that up. lmfao nice try
  5. haha, i worked with someone who made i mistake like this. her mistake only cost the company $2 million.
  6. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Not everyone who consumes alcohol does so to excess. EVERYONE who smokes, pollutes the surrounding airspace. Unfortunately your argument is seriously flawed. All who breathe second hand smoke do not die from it. BTW, don't go somewhere people smoke. Don't work somewhere people smoke. If you're alergic to peanuts don't work at the JIffy factory.
  7. QUOTE(J-MAN @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) The difference is my having a drink doesn't force someone else to drink! Yea, but your drinking forces me to deal with your drunk behavior. No difference at all.
  8. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) Ann Coulter is notorious for having a thin skin when people are being ruthless. I saw her in a debate type interview with that Van Den Heuvel chick from The Nation on CNN International. Coulter has a tendency to make s*** up and Van Den Heuvel called her on it every time. She got so upset and defensive, she walked off in the middle of the segment. I wish I could have seen that.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) I REALLY don't buy the "don't go there" argument, since it's pretty hard to find a place to go out to eat at that is smoke free. I really don't like being around smokers when I eat and I can't remember the last time I have had a problem going out and eating in a smoke free enviroment.
  10. QUOTE(Soxy @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) But it isn't just the south was my point. lol i don't see this happening anywhere but conservative parts of the country (which is mostly in the south).
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) Do we have overwhelming proof of all this, like we do that second hand smoke directly affects a persons health in a negative way, even though they don't smoke. Yes, we do. Obesity is a HUGE problem. It leads to so many health problems and kills way more people than smoking. These health problems cost a lot of money which is passed on to everyone else. Drunks obviously are the source of most DUI accidents. Drunks also do damage property and cause fights. Ask any Chicago cop about when most fights occur, on the weekend when people are drunk.
  12. QUOTE(Soxy @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) Well, I wouldn't say Kansas is in the South. . . mississippi is
  13. not neccesarily Some would argue that people who eat fatty food and become obese drive up health care costs, which affects us all. People who get drunk causing accidents, start fights and damage propert. Evil devil music makes kids go crazy and shoot up a school, commit suicide, ect.
  14. QUOTE(Soxy @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) And that, obviously, goes to both sides of the debate. totally like teachers down south trying to teach creationism in science class.
  15. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) :headshake
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Most teachers have better things to do than push their political beliefs on kids. They have better things to do, but it doesn't mean that they do them.
  17. QUOTE(Pale Hose Jon @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) It is not probably from teachers. History tells us that liberals are younger and conservatives are older. Hence, younger vs. older Probably for most people. I've gotten more liberal the older I get.
  18. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) I'm guessing he gets it from his teachers and I'm guessing for him to have such animosity they weren't just teaching and letting the kids decide, they were imposing their opinions. Right? Wrong? No, you're right. I remember my little brother was saying that kind of nonsense he got from his teachers in highschool, I set him straight. Now older and wiser he thinks for himself, as do most people.
  19. QUOTE(Pierzynski 12 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Ok? i think he meant Marte is a member of Soxtalk and is the one that voted "no".
  20. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/12/08/coulter.row.ap/index.html Thats right Anne, if you dont grab your audience with your introduction speech, then call them all stupid. Then you will have their attention. In my college speeh classes I would always begin with, "just so you all know, you're all stupider than me". It seemd to work really well.
  21. haha, suuuure. Thats the problem with hate crimes/speech laws, ANYTHING can be considered such.
  22. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) I would like to think I am missing something but don't the Phillies get jobbed her? it does look like they would be getting the short end of that deal.
  23. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) Why do people feel it's necessary to get married in a church? I know not everyone does, but i would expect the majority does. It's odd that some people don't go to church, but want to get married there. a little help? maybe to make their family happy?
  24. QUOTE(Balance @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) I'm glad the ban passed, but nothing is going to change in Chicago's bars for two and a half years. The main reason I supported the ban is to get smoking out of bars, for the sake of the employees and the patrons. That's still a long time to wait. Heck, I may have moved out to the burbs before I can enjoy the smoking ban. yea, it will be nice to go to the bar and not have to smell smoke, it can get really bad. however, i have always felt that the owner of the bar should decide if it is smoking or non.
  25. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Alcohol. drinking is bad for you
