  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 11:31 AM) Oh the tale of unintended consequences. A court full of "Conservative" Judges strikes a blow to States rights. The Supreme Court knows more about Montana than the people of Montana. The supreme court is looking pretty bad
  2. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) I'll pay him my negative earnings rate when you factor in cost of living. Not good enough. Sell all ur possessions and giveth to Obamacus.
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) Well, the Chamber of Commerce had no impact on the Immigration Ruling The Chamber of Commerce supports illegal immigration. Cheap workers.
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 07:42 AM) Give the jackass your money. He needs it more then you do, in the classic redistribution of wealth realm. you need to pay your fair share. https://contribute.barackobama.com/donation/index.html
  5. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) Obviously, there are different types of consulting, but if you're an Engineer, you could certainly go into technology consulting with really any undergraduate engineering degree. I'm in software consulting and have a business degree (focus on Supply Chain Mgmt), but I work with a lot of IE's, a few ME's, and I even have a co-worker who studied civil engineering at Purdue. All of the guys I started with are no more than 2 years out of school and are not considered PE's. yea dude, just apply for entry level jobs at IBM, Accenture, CSC, whatever. At worst, you can most likely get a paid internship. after you impress then you get the full time job.

    QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 06:47 PM) I worked for 8 months for a startup and never made a dollar from them. wow, that sucks. so you lasted 8 months without a pay check? most start-ups aren't worth the time to work at. it's just better to start your own company.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 10:36 AM) Then how about at age 18 all children are given a test assessing their knowledge of the Constitution, American History, Presidents, etc.? That'll work. well, that is obviously a pointless exercise and i think you know it. a policy of giving a simple history exam, which results in citizenship for anyone and everyone, has no value. i would also like to see how you remove everyone that fails the test. actually, i'm sure mexico would be happy to take all the US citizens that fail the history test. just make sure mexico has their entitlements ready; free food, free health care, free rent, free education, and so forth. they will be expecting it.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 05:57 AM) All I can say about this is my friend who came over when she 6 months old has more right to stay here than most legal residents. no, actually, she doesn't
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) Hopefully we do hear about this for 7+ days, it's a great campaign move. i don't think so
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) Hmm, so an executive ordered amnesty program, and he's not taking questions? If Bush pulled this move we'd be hearing about it non-stop for 7 days. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/201...ion_speech.html terrible precedent set. the president just declares amnesty bypassing the rest of the countries elected officials. so what can't the president dictate?
  11. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 06:09 PM) I have an engineering degree-and even I am questioning whether or not college was worth it. Due to some personal issues, I was unable to work or get an internship during the time in which I was enrolled. I have student loans to pay and no job. The great majority of the jobs that I find while job searching I don't qualify for because they ask for at least 5 years experience. I have found, while job searching, an average of one entry level engineering job in my field per month. I have applied to them and did not get any response. When I follow up, they tell me either they have already hired someone or they don't need any fresh grads anymore. I don't want to go to grad school because I don't want to go anymore in debt than I already am, but I feel that the economy is so bad that I'll be unemployed for over a year, and will not remember half of the stuff I learned in college. I don't know what to do anymore. I don't feel that I have borrowed too much for the degree that I have, but at the same time the degree is only a piece of paper if I have no job. I am starting to think that even though I have the brainpower to be an engineer, that I wasted the the time that I was in school. It seems that in this economy, a degree is just a piece of paper, and the only thing that matters is the fact that you are willing and able to work for virtually nothing(compared to the market for your profession) and that you have a ton of experience in your field. It also seems that there are not enough jobs to go around for those who are graduating college these days It seems everyone has a college degree now, and it doesn't matter what it is in, all that matters to employers is that you have some sort of work experience in the field that you are applying to. My response to that is "How am I supposed to get experience if no one will give me a chance when I don't have any?" Am I completely off base here? Consider consulting work and be open to travel. A lot of companies will take an engineering grad and consulting companies are hiring right now
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 07:50 PM) Since it's all you have after 4 years. the private sector is doing fine. stop yer whining.
  13. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 01:56 PM) At U of I, you go into Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (International, Marketing, IS/IT, SCM, BPM, etc). The University of Illinois has an excellent engineering department too
  14. the weird thing is, the one class that probably helped me most in college was speech. Excellent public speaking skills have served me well. but anyways, a business degree is fine. it's a practical degree, nothing wrong with that.
  15. Bill Maher is jealous of successful Tea Party. Laments Occupy Wallsteets' uselessness http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/06/09/1...upy-Wall-Street
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) Your post would have been about 1000x better as this: i should have just rick rolled you jackasses and be done with it
  17. you guys sure supported big money campaigns when Obama was racking in massive bribe money from wall street. he even went back on his promise about public financing. oh well, he's Democrat brand, so you blindly support him. you guys lost in the recall elecation. deal with it. your democrats are totally bribed and corrupt just like most of the GOP. so stop with the sob story about money in campaigns.
  18. one big problem with having a retirement age of around 70 is that employees older than 55 can't find new jobs if they lose their job. What do they do for those 15 or so years? Companies have been jettisoning older workers recently for cheaper employees.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) Really don't get why the dems ignored this nationally. Obama tweeted his support of the Democrat. he did his part
  20. thanks to the recall, the GOP now has a big time ground game set up for Wisconsin.
