2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) Did anybody actually see the press conference? I thought I read that there was some mention of lifting the blackouts on NHL Center Ice to let fans with CI to see home games with the other team's feed. That'd be great to get that done as well... Unfortunately, this wasn't brought up.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
QUOTE(rockren @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) However, Fields bat ranks above any of their prospects and that Guzman will be a SS rather than a 3Bagger IMO. Duuuude. Evan Longoria >>>>>>>>>>>>> Josh Fields EDIT: I see that's already been pointed out. As for Crawford. Send them Danks and Gio and rock and roll.

Tyrus Thomas: the joke
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 10:07 AM) Posted two hours and ten minutes ago... http://www.talkbulls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2144 But then again, that would just be changing the subject to avoid what Scott Skiles has been talking about for a while now. Thomas needs to bring his game every night. If he would wake up to the fact that he just can't "out athlete" NBA guys every night, he has the potential to be a Shawn Marion type player. minus the 3's.

Tyrus Thomas: the joke
QUOTE(rockren @ Nov 3, 2007 -> 10:25 AM) Tyrus is the most talented player we have. Tyrus hit four or five 17 foot jumpers last night. If he continues to do that, he'll average 15 pts/game for the year. His biggest problem is getting in early foul trouble, which significantly cuts into his PT. Another problem is how Skiles is all over Noc late in the game and Noc always plays the 4 in the 4th quarter. If Ty can get 35-40 minutes a night consistently, the sky is the limit ALREADY this season for him. Tyrus followed up his amazing effort with a 2 point, 6 rebound effort... and thus the thread lives on... where you at after that performance Dick Allen? Oh yeah, not showing up, because it takes actual balls to make a statement when you aren't just regurgitating facts and bulls*** that you feel is relevant.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) You pushed it three posts in a row... link link link. If I -- or anyone, really -- wanted to go there, a simple scroll over "TalkChicagoSports" lets me know about the family of boards. Whatever, it's only slightly bothersome. shut up. you're the resident moron of the board, we get it. if you considered yourself a hawks fan, you'd check out talkbhawks.com... since you obviously aren't, just ignore it. seriously.

Could a team of you and your friends
I've had a conversation with my buddy for many years (before he was a Bull) that I could score a single poitn in a game of 1-on-1 with Ben Wallce to 21. I just know I could!

Could a team of you and your friends
QUOTE(Shadows @ Nov 2, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) I am 100% sure that me and four of my friends could beat the best WNBA team, and I will even go out and say that it wouldnt even be close.. You'd get smoked.

Tyrus Thomas: the joke
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 3, 2007 -> 08:15 AM) 21 points, 12 rebounds,3 blocks, 42 minutes. Not bad for a lazy, unfocused, out of shape joke. Wow, I'm shocked by this. Let's just crown his ass. haha. Seriously, his next 15 effort will probably be in December, but good point, he's erased everything from the past.

Bonds won't enter Hall
QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 2, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) Read "Game of Shadows". It's eye opening. That requires said person to actually have a thought and be able to get through a book that doesn't have colorful pictures in it.

A-Rod gets first offer

2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 2, 2007 -> 11:51 AM) No surprise here...Kane is rookie of the month. http://blackhawks.nhl.com/team/app/?servic...rticleid=342010 Best month I've ever seen out of a Blackhawks rook... hell, Toews just had the 2nd best too.

The Office
Last night's episode was the best of the season, imo. Oscar: "Aside from having sex with men, the Finer Things Club is the gayest thing I do." hahahahaha

Torii Hunter
I REALLY want Rafael Furcal on the Sox next year... it seems like an obvious match and I hope something comes of it. A career .350 OBP and a return to a higher OPS (i dont think his 2007 will become the norm) would make Furcal a great leadoff option for our hapless Sox.

2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread
Melrose (I know its Barry Melrose) stated last night that Patrick Kane just might wind up being the best American born player ever (then offered Mike Modano as the guy who currently holds the title). He then said that there was so much hype about Crosby that this was expected, but that Kane is easily going to be as good as Crosby if not better. Talk about a ringing endorsement.

Kobe To the Bulls Rumors
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) I agree, he is a good player, and what a great fit he would be on the bulls. As far as big men in the east though, my love is squarely for Dwight Howard. What's so great about a guy who looks like an action figure, blocks 7 shots in one game, and can't be stopped down low? Dwight of course is the freaking man... he's the freaking man.

Kobe To the Bulls Rumors
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:54 PM) nah, you never did have a nose for being an effective GM.......... Shouldn't that be in green!? I have a lot of love for Al Jefferson, obviously... he is awesome.
-
Kobe To the Bulls Rumors
I'd trade anyone on the Bulls for Jefferson and that includes Deng... that should say something.

Kobe To the Bulls Rumors
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) Myself and many others dont see him being a superstar. He may very well be a good player, maybe even avg 20-10, but hes no replacement for KG. but he is 10 years younger than KG and comes with a much lower contract. The T-Wolves were going nowhere and getting him was a huge score for a player like KG.

Yanks interested in Crede
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) Hes a legit CF'er with a canon arm, who is only 23 years old and has shown that he can get on base (.340 career OBP) hit doubles and would be affordable. We have a young player (Fields) who can step in a 3B and Crede's back and .305 OBP hurts our offense. His BEST season he only had a .323 OBP. I couldn't agree more with this statement. I'm a huge Melky Cabrera fan.

Kobe To the Bulls Rumors
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) I agree with you, but I wouldnt call Al Jefferson a GREAT replacement. He will be a good player, but will never be a star player. We are giving the Lakers 2 top draft picks in Thomas and Noah, and Ben Gordon who is already a prolific scorer. I would say its somewhat on par. Of course Kobe is alot younger than KG I highly disagree on Al Jefferson. He averaged 16 ppg, 11 rpg, and 1.5 bpg in his first season as a starter. I can definintely see those numbers going up to 25/15/2 this year as the sole offensive God of Minnesota. He's absolutely awesome. And he's only 22!

Yanks interested in Crede
I actually think that if they wanted the Sox could get Betemit in a Crede deal rather easily. If the Yankees are showing interest, that's great. They need a 3B, but they are set at SS and 2B and Betemit holds little value with them. Throw in some turd from AAA along with Joe and get Betemit and be done with it... I don't think the Yanks would worry too much about dealing Betemit.

Kobe To the Bulls Rumors
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) Well if they have to trade him it won't be to the Bulls as Paxson as put the speculation to rest. Dude, did you even HEAR the interview. His comments make me no less inspired that the Bulls will get Kobe. He didn't say "we're not trading for Kobe" he said "we're kinda not doing anything at the moment." You can read that however you want, but it was not convincing nor should it end these conversations. I guarantee they are still discussing a deal. Whether it gets done remains to be seen, but they are still talking.

Kobe To the Bulls Rumors
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) I understand the logic, but based on the previous deals for superstars and what they landed for them, I think that the return isnt going to be everything the lakers want. But they need to cut payroll and bring in young talent and possibly additional draft picks. Kobe is more on the level of KG than he is on the level of AI. AI went for tablescraps... we know this. He also was not playing with the team and didn't play for 10 days. Kobe is willing to go out there and play, as was KG. The haul that the T-Wolves got for KG was quite good, including a great replacement in Al Jefferson whom they just signed to a 5 year extension. Now, that being said, the Bulls aren't offering garbage. A deal of Kirk, Tyrus, and Noah (or obviously one of the others that has been rumored sans the Ben Wallace one) are a decent haul for a team in such turmoil. However, the Lakers don't HAVE to trade Kobe, but it sure looks like they want to.

Ever wanted to work for the Sox?
QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 10:27 AM) I interned in the sports industry this past summer, don't really plan on going back. The incredibly low pay and horrible hours were just awful. I'm looking at regular 9-5 jobs now. I too interned in sports in early 2006, and was happy to get it on my resume to get my 9-5. Those hours suck.
