Oh, Patrick Roy. You crushed many a dream of mine as a young Hawks obsessive, but the league has missed you. Thank you for coming back and showing you're still a psychopath.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 03:11 AM) My GTA Online is working now. I had the game boot straight it to Online, not single player, and that seemed to work. Still has long pauses in the beginning, but it's working. The game glitched me with $11K for some reason, so after less than 2 hours, I am at $22K already, almost enough to buy an apartment. I had fun jumping in random cars with people and robbing stores. I played wheelman, but then the dumbass shot at the cops, so I had to drive us out of a 3-star situation, and in online the cops are INSANE. It took at least 5 minutes to lose the stars. I drove all over the place, but those helicopters wouldn't let up. After we escaped, the guy didn't give me any of the cut of the robbery. Asshole. Mercy, bro. Pull yourself away from the game console for awhile and wait until they have it working properly.

49ers SS Donte Whitner has filed official paperwork to change his last name to "Hitner." "That's what I do. It's my last name and removing a letter makes it pretty cool," he said.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 07:19 PM) The goalie pads are a tad bit smaller as well. Also hybrid icing, though that shouldn't effect scoring much.

The Bulls play on Saturday. Could we really see Derrick Rose on an NBA court playing an officiated game?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 02:52 PM) My brother just left DTV for Comcast, and he's getting the new copycat technology they have that works exactly like the DTV genies. He has 1 DVR and a bunch of small wireless boxes. Yeah - but no. Fewer shows at once, smaller HD, and the amount of bugs and unhappy X1 customers is too high to list. And, you know, lesser picture quality.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) My DTV boxes are about the size of a coaster. They are also RF so you can hide them behind wall mounted TV's. Its pretty awesome. Definitely still need Comcast internet though, DSL from ATT blows. Yeah, I get out the door DTV Genie + Comcast internet for around $150. It's the best of both worlds, there's no reason to put up with Comcast's crap. They finally released a DVR that can compete somewhat with the Genie and the Hopper (the X1) but it still has one fewer receiver and they still charge way too much for extra boxes. The Genie clients are amazing and as previously mentioned - the size of a coaster. And of course Comcast can NEVER compete with satellite when it comes to HD feed. Picture quality is, you know, important.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 02:31 PM) The genie may be the best thing ever. I still forget that I can tape something in one room and it really means the entire house. I was staying up watching the hawks game that I taped when I realized I could continue watching in bed. I also do some web browsing during the day, and maybe I'll read something about a new show or a special or something and think "damn, I should dvr that". Then I realize how easy they make it to find shows and set recordings and series recordings on the app or on their website. So I do it. The entire experience is just fantastic. We haven't even touched on the fact that you can record like 8,000 things without filling up the DVR and 5 things at once (super handy on Sunday nights).

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 04:41 PM) Picked up my copy of 2K14 for PS3. I haven't bought a basketball game for consoles since NBA 2K5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) I hate how 2K changes the controls for NBA 2K every year. They've combined the right stick this year to do dribble moves and shots. It felt so weird... Every year / at least once since your last copy 9 years ago? The controls were like that last year. The dribbling on the right stick (finally) is awesome. You can shoot with a button, too, though I prefer to hold the shot button and use the same stick to get total control of how I shoot. Just play it a bit more.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) I LOVE it so far. Besides the almost 200 dollar savings and superior technology (the genie f***ing rocks), lets talk about installation services. I have an old house in historic Oak Park. Half of the house is an addition that has been wired for several services over the past several years. First the directv guy gets there and tellls me I need all new wiring. Cool, it makes sense. He looks at the dish network dish and wiring and said, wow, why did they do it this way. He then removes the ugly dish from the front of my house and takes out their horrible wiring. He then hides my DTV dish in the back and smartly wires my 5 rooms so that you can barely see anything externally. Some of my rooms are hard to wire, then guy doesnt flinch, comes up with great ideas and even tacks it to walls/hides it internally where needed. He then puts my splitter in a central location so I have minimal delay. The guy cleans up and is gone, such great service. Comcast guy comes to install just internet in one room. Looks at cable coming from pole to house "thats old", begins to replace. No big deal, replaces the run from the pole to the house and the slack is such that its hanging down into my yard. He tells me he will fix that later. he then follows some of the DTV guys wiring and starts to eye a place to drill a hole through my house. I ask, cant you just put it back through the plate that the DTV guy did, its already hidden and sealed. "No, then you wouldnt know which one is which". Seriously, he said that. finally I convince him to do it and it looks decent, but he didnt hide any wires on the side. I completed this work for him later. He then says he is done and begins to pack up, I had to ask him again to take out the slack on the wire hanging head height into my yard. He makes me sign the thing and starts to leave and I notice its not working. "give it a few min". Reluctantly I let him go and 6 hours later I am back on the phone with Comcast trying to fix my service. Finally I get it working after going through 3 different foreign techs. The service has been night and day so far. Yeah - they must put their installers through some rigorous skills testing and pay them well. I had the same amazing experience with our installer. They actually give a s*** what it looks like at the end of the day. As I posted many months ago - I love the Genie and I adore DirecTV. It's also nice that every picture is true HD and not compressed like s***ty Comcast.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 02:15 PM) I most likely will never go back to comcast ever again. When i moved from Schaumburg to sleepy hollow, they charged me 450 dollars to move my service. that was moving the service and installation fees for the same thing I had in Schaumburg. That is great customer retention right there, I tell ya. Plus, the triple play package I had went from 139.00 a month to 259.00 a month in the 3 years I had comcast. I have had Directv since 2009, and my bill has changed roughly 2.00 more, and that is because of county taxes. f*** COMCAST When you moved, like everyone else who has a working brain, you should have just canceled the account and opened a new one at the new residence. Silly f***. Still, Comcast is awful.

Just wait a few f***ing days and I'm sure the precious online will be working.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 11:30 AM) I missed SOA last night because 2 of my cable boxes decided to take a crap 5 minutes before the show started. The main box was making the picture on the TV huge so that it was literally cutting it off on all 4 sides. I tried adjusting the picture settings on both the TV and the box to no avail. When I unplugged it and tried to switch it with one in another room they both quit working completely. I called Comcast's completely unhelpful customer service and they are going to send a tech out tomorrow. After an hour or so I got about half my channels back on one of the boxes but it was completely random which channels I got. All the basic local channels (ABC, NBC, FOX, etc...) and a handful of cable channels. This morning when I checked it I had everything except FX. The other cable box was still DOA. So here's a nice big FU to Comcast and their s***ty equipment. Comcast sucks. I do not miss their customer service.

That game was too much last night. I got emotional during the pregame video. I would have preferred more exciting music during the banner raising. Also, you'd think Rocky would get better at these speeches. All-in-all, awesome game. This team is going to do some wicked damage this year. The new rules are going to increase scoring a bit, I think, especially for a team like the Hawks that forechecks so f***ing well.

I've had time to let the BB finale settle - and I just could not be more pleased. The wife and I were first adopters, meaning we watched the premiere the night it aired on AMC five years ago. Never once have I not been pleased by an episode. I'm apparently one of the very few who adored "Fly". There's a plethora of shows that stayed on the air far beyond their expiration date - most recently Dexter. While that leaves a bad taste in anyone's mouth, I'm already reeling from the loss of BB. I love where the show wound up. No bad deed goes unpunished indeed. However, man, I feel like this last "season" (split into two) could have been told over the course of 3 seasons easily. We jumped so much time in such a short amount of episodes. I wish that contract situations and salaries could have been figured out to continue the slow burn that made the series really amazing. Every time we neared a climax they found a way to squeeze and hold off a little bit longer for truly great payoffs. This last season, especially part two, was incredibly hurried. Other than that, it was just perfect. I've decided to start re-watching the series now. I'm already excited to see some of the many epic scenes yet again - the first cook, the bathtub, Walt making the difficult decision to kill Krazy-8 and it being so unnatural for him (and man, I still remember being terrified that with that dude slashing around while being killed against the pole), the birth of Heisenberg, Walt blowing up Tuco, letting Jane die, those psycho f***ing cousins, Gus brutally killing that guy in the underground meth lab, "Salud", the train heist, the gus explosion, f***ing jail killings, Hank finding out, and endless breakfasts for Junior. F*ck they go on and on. By far my favorite show of all-time - drama or comedy. I'm going to miss this perfection, and I hope something comes along to rival the great shows again soon.
