  1. I am infinitely more excited about this team with a direction that could lead somewhere than the way they have patch-worked this team the past 8 years. I'll happily go to a game in August and September to support a losing team that has a plan.
  2. QUOTE (peppers312 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) sounds like they aren't getting Robertson then. i think once Jansen gets a deal, we'll get a better picture of where Robertson ends up. This place gets more ridiculous every day.
  3. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) Whelp, nm on that idea about Ford. Yeah, Hopkins ain't doing two seasons.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 06:37 AM) Out of the seven players we acquired, three of them will be ready at some point next year. Giolito & Lopez should be able to step into the rotation immediately, although it's very possible they aren't up until some point in May or whenever the date is to get that extra year of team control. Moncada needs more seasoning and will certainly not be up until that same date. I'm super excited to follow all three of these guys next year. I find it fascinating that in year 1 of our rebuild, we'll already have three young, high ceiling starters in our rotation. That alone makes 60% of games watchable to me. A dynamic middle infield of Anderson & Moncada should keep the rest of the games at least somewhat interesting. I fully acknowledge that I'm a diehard fan who is excited to watch young players develop, while most casual fans only care about winning. But you know what, who the f*** cares? Attendance & TV ratings don't matter in a rebuild, all we should care about is developing a young core that can lead to sustainable success. And that's exactly what these first two moves are setting us up for. Lopez pitched 44 innings last year - is that an issue? They both had a cup of coffee, but there's no reason to rush them at all.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Me too, especially because it seems driven by the lack of "sex appeal' from Eaton even though he is a superior player to McCutchen. As long as we ignore history and focus on a single season, you're correct
  6. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:23 PM) Reed is falling in value; I know a lot of people here like him,but his 1/4 season really wasn't good. I might go for more volume here, assuming no Bregman. Astros have a lot of really good, but not elite, prospects, particularly position players. Mike Trout was s*** in his first cup of coffee.
  7. I cannot believe this return. Giolito is the #3 prospect in the entire game. Lopez #13. Dunning was the Nat's first rounder just last year. All of that for Adam freaking Eaton. Thank God for advanced stats showing that the slappy, oft-injured outfielder was a +6 fWAR last year. Also, you know Dusty Baker loves his grind factor. The Sox will wake up tomorrow with the top system in all of baseball and three huge assets left in Quintana, Frazier, and Robertson to deal off. The future is much brighter today than it was 2 days ago.
  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) What amazes me is this rumor gets going about us parting with a gold glove OFer who swings a good bat and a Cy Young candidate in the same trade with a return of second level minor league players and some think it's acceptable or even true Hawk? Is that you?
  9. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) From what I've seen, the only people still demanding Turner is in the context of a Quintana + Eaton trade, in which case that's entirely valid for a pair of 4-5 WAR players. I honestly don't believe that to be true. You can't trade Turner if you're the Nats. You just cannot trade him.
  10. We now have multiple threads so I'll post this here, too. If I see one more post demanding Turner ++ for Quintana +. Washington is not going to trade Turner for guys their fans have never even heard of - there would be a mutiny. Trea Turner, in 73 games last year across 307 at bats, had a .937 OPS with 13 homers, 14 doubles, 8 triples, and 33 stolen bases. WHAT THE F*CK THEY ARE NOT GOING TO F*CKING TRADE THIS GUY. Their fans would riot.
  11. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) I want this trade just not sure you could get Robles. You CANNOT trade both of those guys to Washington and not get Turner. Washington is not going to trade Turner for guys their fans have never even heard of - there would be a mutiny. 12. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) Not sure how this deal is possible without Turner, Giolito and Robles. Good Lord, everyone in here is delusional. On what planet do you think those two could net Turner ++?
  13. QUOTE (JLarucci23 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) Zeus or sun shine from Remember the Titans I dig Zeus.
  14. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) Here's a Kopech interview from this past AFL. Dude definitely is no stranger to working out.
  15. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:15 AM) Merkin reply to that tweet Heard White Sox were looking at some free agents to help solidify rotation https://t.co/EXqij573rQ https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/806516664389005312 ie - we need some bums to replace Sale and Quintana.
  16. This thread is dedicated to talking about Michael Kopech. Here's some nice links: http://www.overthemonster.com/2016/7/14/12...ng-105-mph-heat http://nesn.com/2016/12/travis-shaw-michae...-day-in-boston/ I think Kopech is the real deal and will be here sooner than expected. It'll be exciting to watch Carson Fulmer and him pitch in the same rotation along with Carlos Rodon.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) I think there is no doubt we are buying on the highs for both Moncada and Kopech. Let's hope their stock keeps rallying with some actual performance. It seems a huge majority of scouts think Kopech is the real-deal. There was a fine gentleman on the Score yesterday who said he's easily a top 5 SP spect in the entire game.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:39 AM) Retweeted Daryl Van Schouwen (@CST_soxvan): Sale on his time with White Sox: "It didn't work. I really wish it did. I look forward to the next chapter." What really didn't work was the dumbass contract he signed. Worked for us, though! Man, it's weird. Sale was super duper dominant, but I never really liked the guy. Hopefully he finds a groove in Boston and gets the recognition he deserved, but a divorce at this point for the haul we got works quite well for me.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:32 AM) He is close, in fact. No he's not. He's a very good starting pitcher. Chris Sale is a generational pitcher and the best in the history of our entire franchise.
  20. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:50 PM) I'm starting to think it makes sense to keep Q, unless they get a similar package for him. This is just nuts. This mentality by some Sox fans around here is just nuts. Sale is #1 in like 10 stats in AL pitchers over the last 5 years. Jose Quintana is not, nor is he close. The Sox can get a couple of very solid prospects for him, but nothing like that.
  21. I don't believe Jose Quintana will be on the White Sox at day's end.
  22. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) I really don't know what to expect in a return for Quintana I want Giolito.
