  1. I said this a few days ago, Carmelo is so criminally underrated. That being said, even his biggest detractor would scream from a hilltop that he's >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Deng.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) I lived in Carbondale for 8 years, and I have been to St Louis countless times as well, I respectfully disagree Perhaps the way you carried yourself or the attire you were wearing led to some drunken discussions? You never know. When I'm down there, I tend to rock the Cardinals jersey shirt and the White Sox cap, and I'm always well-received. And yes, the Landing is awesome and the new casino they opened (Lumiere Place) are quite awesome. And of course, the tour. I've been on it twice... and ending with fresh, free Bud products is worth the 40 minutes or so.
  3. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) All around game considered the only clear cut SF's better than Deng are: Lebron James Kevin Durant Danny Granger I think you have to group Deng with the Caron Butler/Rudy Gay/Gerald Wallace bunch. Ooof. I'd personally say Gerald Wallace and Rudy Gay should be rated well above Deng. Caron Butler is having a nice start to the season, but I'm not willing to forgive the past few years based on a couple 20 point outbursts. He's below Deng. You also forgot Carmelo Anthony in the "clearly better" category.
  4. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) His mid-range jumper has been solid for a while and he's good in the open court. His mid-range jumper has always been great and his 3 point shot has improved greatly the last three years. With Rose on the court, he's lethal, without Rose, he's just a dude on offense.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) SF's better than Deng: LeBron Durant Melo Pierce Gay AI2 Wallace Granger Marion AK SFs arguably better: Wright Gallinari Butler Hedo Hill Deng is somewhere in that third-tier. Shawn Marion? No. AK-47? He's not even in the league.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) Well except for the facts that Noah is black, athletic, a good rebounder, a terrible shooter, and high energy, they are a lot alike. The bolded have been missing for nearly a year now.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) I'm just saying. They're both "scoring" point guards. They're both athletic freaks of nature, similar skill-sets, and the same age I believe. And I said before the season started that I don't like the Bulls' roster outside of Rose. They've overachieved the last year+. Much credit to TT. He's a better coach than I ever thought possible. Boozer is garbage. Deng is like the 15th best SF in the league. And Noah reminds of Luc Longley at times. Yeah, I think we agree. I just don't know that I can definitely call this the only game Rose can play. I believe he took over on offense because the Bulls had so little shot without him doing that. Hell, we all saw how bad the Bulls looked to start games this season as Rose was trying to defer to his supporting cast. The Bulls are a nice deep team, but without Rose they are a lottery team. That is some scary s***. The Thunder could lose Westbrook (whom I agree is a Rose-lite) and not skip a beat.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) St Louis can be a fun town, it isnt as bad as people make it out to be. The problem is the residents think it is as good as if not better than Chicago, which is wrong My Dad is a big fan of everything St. Louis, so I've been there a thousand times. Residents don't care about Chicago and don't compare St. Louis to anything. They know what they are and they love it. We go down there every 4th of July for a game, to gamble, and to have a good time... and St. Louis can definitely be a good time. That being said, I've also seen a Bears/Rams game in St. Louis, and it's the most bored I've ever been... and the Bears dominated 27-3. It felt like watching a football game in someone's basement. That dome is horrendous, and the area of the city it's in is even worse. In fact, someone was murdered at the Holiday Inn we stayed at for that game just last year. Great baseball city (and stadium), ok hockey city, bad football city. However, good for the Rams. The old man is stoked as he's a big Fischer fan. Hopefully they figure something out as things continue to get worse year in and year out...
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) You just proved my point. It's OK that Rose at times takes bad shots because there's nobody for him to defer to. Who's to say Rose wouldn't have similar difficulties meshing with such an uber-talent like Durant? Rose is not Nash or Paul or Williams. He looks to score first. He was that way at Memphis. I have a hard time bringing Rose's one year at Memphis into the discussion. It's true, we don't know what Rose would do with the best scorer in the league on his team, but one can assume his work ethic and drive would have him feeding that freak and getting his when he gets his. Listen, we all just saw what the Bulls' 2nd and 3rd options look like without Rose on the floor in that game against the Wizards, and both Deng and Boozer shat themselves.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 12:40 PM) Better than The League? I like Parks N. Rec, I just don't keep up w/ it. I like The League, but it's not really even close in my opinion. To each his own, of course.

Game of Thrones, Season 2 = April 1
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:55 AM) Its been a while for my spanish, but that's not what that stated. IIRC it is more like "I have six teams who are most interested in having me." You'd be correct. The wonders of the internet produce "There are six teams that have interests in me. Marlins, Cubs, White Sox, Orioles, Detroit and the Indians"
  13. QUOTE (Real @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) 6 teams making big offers to Cespedes, Sox Tigers Indians Marlins Orioles Cubs https://twitter.com/#!/dSoldevila/statu...860018937532416 I just don't see the Sox being able wanting to compete with the Tigers, Marlins, and Cubs in this process.
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) I'll go ahead and guarantee that you're wrong. I'll jump in and agree.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) Hated it. Couldn't finish the first episode. Didn't go anywhere and was just boring and not very witty as it tried to sell itself as. In this day and age it surprises me how much some shows can miss the idea of ensuring there's some sort of hook or enough entertainment in a pilot to warrant interest in a viewer coming back. Throwing a couple secondary movie stars into a show isn't enough nowadays with the quality production work being done on competing cable networks.
  16. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) http://nba-point-forward.si.com/2012/01/13...s-all-to-death/ That there's damn interesting. Perhaps doing it in excess as Jackson did last night isn't the smartest strategy. However, it shouldn't be considered flagrant and is well-within the rules of the game.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) That's fine but it is clearly intentional/flagrant and should be called as such even if there is no physical harm. intentional fouls are perfectly allowed in the NBA and well within the rules. intentional =/= flagrant
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) The only reason Aldridge isn't a superstar is because he plays in the upper left corner of the country. ...or the fact that he doesn't get his own shot. He's not a "superstar" by NBA standards. Is he an All-Star? Sure. Is he a star? Sure. However, you have to be exceedingly good at at least one thing to even be considered an NBA Superstar. He shoots less than 50%, can't create his own shot, doesn't snag 10 boards a game, and his blocks are sporadic at best. He's very, very good, but NBA superstar he is not... regardless of where he calls home. I'd imagine if that were criteria for making a superstar list, two players from Oklahoma City wouldn't be considered either.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) Rules need to be changed for things like that. Clearly intentional although not meant to harm. Lame. I disagree. It's a smart strategy and what smart teams should do to beat the Magic. If Dwight ever learned how to make a free throw it wouldn't happen.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) Aldridge isn't a superstar. I tend to think he's a top 20 player. He might be top 5 among big men, but even then, you have Howard, Love, Gasol, Bosh, Randolph, Lopez, and Bynum as competition. Just thinking about it, he'd probably rank 4th or 5th in that list of guys. LOPEZ!?!??!?! FOR REALL!?!?!?!?!?!? LOPEZ?!?!?!? BROOK LOPEZ IS SH*T, even if we ignore his current injury. Of that list, Aldridge is probably 4th, given his knack for staying healthy... though obviously Bynum has bigger upside. Also, you neglected to put Blake on here. 1. Howard 2. P Gasol 3. Love 4. Aldridge 5. Blake 6. Bynum 7. Bosh, maybe, but f*** him then on and on and on... I bet Z-Bo fits in here when healthy. like f***in 18. B. Lopez
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 09:14 AM) Keith Law's take on the Schmidt signing: The internet never forgets.
  22. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:08 AM) Seems very unsubstantiated, you gotta back a claim like that up with more IMO. Not in this day and age you don't, sadly.
  23. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:04 AM) The thing is I'm a big fan of Westbrook as well (he still has a lot to figure out), but to call him top 7...and better than Kevin f***ing Durant...oye. YEah, that's the thing. Actually, the Westbrook hate has gone way too far after the playoffs last year, but still... he's not better than Kevin f***ing Durant and anyone who would write that, regardless of their consistency in liking a player, is off their rocker.
