That's an interesting statement. I like.

Yankees Acquire Pineda for Montero
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) Check out the Mariners' offensive statistics last year and the reasoning becomes rather clear. Then trade Felix and his salary for a haul, not the cost-controlled Pineda.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 11:18 AM) I can't wait for this game. I just bought two Mickeys, some hot sauce, and a big f***ing bag of cheese popcorn. I actually like the Niners. But Obama's made me hate them for now. Go Saints! I'm just a huge Drew Brees fan due to ensuring his spot on my fantasy roster 5 straight season. Watching the game and getting drunk with the old man today... can't wait! Go Saints!

I don't understand what on Earth would possess the Mariners to do this trade.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) I have a bad feeling about tomorrow's game against Toronto. Their offense always gives the Bulls fits (Bayless kills Rose). Plus it's a back to back. So it's not looking too good. Bulls will win by at least 15 tomorrow.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 04:53 PM) I'm not a big Melo fan, he can score but he's a bit of a ball hog, once he has the ball, he's gonna shoot. There's no way I'm gonna buy Melo as an average defender, he sucks at defending in Denver and now in NY. He also comes off as a selfish player IMO.There are a lot of SFs I rather have than him, scoring isn't the end all be all of basketball. His rebounding numbers are on par with Deng's (both just over 6 on their careers), his field goal percentage is on par with Deng's despite many more attempts over his career, his 3pt % is on par as well, but much better the last couple years, he steals as many balls as Luol Deng does, and he gets to the line 5 more times per game (effort). He also passes the ball better, as evidenced by his superior assist numbers. If he's selfish, so is Luol Deng.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) That isnt even remotely close the same comparison. I said I rather have Deng until Carmelo gives max effort, because looking at Nuggets they actually improved with guys who seem to want to win. I really don't know where this "max effort" bulls*** comes from. Carmelo Anthony is a f***ing beast. He's taken his Nuggets deep into the playoffs before, and he's always given "effort". I'm certain the "will he won't he" trade rumors last year negatively affected the Nuggets. Melo can score at will and does. He's greatly improved facets of his game including 3 point shooting, rebounding, and distribution. He's sneaky-good in pretty much all facets of his game, and an average defender. I want some proof to your claim that Carmelo Anthony doesn't give max-effort. He works his ass off and has since he was at Syracuse. It's these misconceptions, I guess because of cornrows, that continue to have people criminally underrate Carmelo Anthony.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 04:39 PM) If you say so. Dude just said he'd rather have Deng than Carmelo. And I'm the troll? That's like me saying Joakim Noah > Dwight Howard. Take that garbage anywhere else and he'd get banned. There can always be two trolls in a thread. I mean, you said you'd take AK-47 and the corpse of Shawn Marion over Luol Deng.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 04:39 PM) Luol Deng went to Duke, not Syracuse. Unless this conversation has suddenly started to mention Wes Johnson, in which case you all have lost your minds. Carry on. He was talking about Carmelo Anthony. It was pretty obvious.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) Carmelo is clearly way more talented than Deng, I did the list very quickly and overlooked him. But, in all honesty I'd almost rather have Deng because you know your getting max effort on both sides and the Nuggets actually improved losing him. Yes they got multiple peaces in return but they also lost Billups who at the time was still playing at a high level.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) I lived in Carbondale for 8 years, and I have been to St Louis countless times as well, I respectfully disagree Perhaps the way you carried yourself or the attire you were wearing led to some drunken discussions? You never know. When I'm down there, I tend to rock the Cardinals jersey shirt and the White Sox cap, and I'm always well-received. And yes, the Landing is awesome and the new casino they opened (Lumiere Place) are quite awesome. And of course, the tour. I've been on it twice... and ending with fresh, free Bud products is worth the 40 minutes or so.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) All around game considered the only clear cut SF's better than Deng are: Lebron James Kevin Durant Danny Granger I think you have to group Deng with the Caron Butler/Rudy Gay/Gerald Wallace bunch. Ooof. I'd personally say Gerald Wallace and Rudy Gay should be rated well above Deng. Caron Butler is having a nice start to the season, but I'm not willing to forgive the past few years based on a couple 20 point outbursts. He's below Deng. You also forgot Carmelo Anthony in the "clearly better" category.
