QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) Please work hard this off season and come up with some out of the box ways to improve your skills. Yeah, especially if that box contains HGH.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:39 AM) Amen. Post more often. Some of us blame players; some blame managers/coaches. It's to each his/her own. OZZIE QUIT

9/28 Blue Jays at White Sox
Steve9347 replied to Swingandalongonetoleft's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Sweet, one final chance to see the great Juan Pierre lead off for the White Sox and have the most at bats during a game. That .332 OBP has been clutch and absolutely beneficial to our team scoring runs and winning baseball games this year. -
The great Adam Dunn sits today, as to not break a record of futility for a game that has been going on for like 130 years. He makes $14 million/season for the next 3 years, and adds zero defensive value. He's likely been the biggest free agency bust in the history of Major League Baseball. I don't blame KW for this one, this is all on the Big Donkey, the man whom I and many other White Sox fans thought would lead us to the playoffs, and instead he hits .159 for the season. There is nothing to like here. He's bad, he seems broken, and I have little hope of him busting out of this slump and being a productive member of the White Sox. So sit back, relax, and strap it down (just don't strap it on), because regardless of the manager next year, we'll have this albatross (along with Alex Rios, of course) next season. Good riddance, 2011, you were the worst season I've yet to witness, and may you burn for all eternity...

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:15 AM) Any reason in particular that Sandy Alomar Jr. is going to get this job? My preference was Dave Martinez, but if the qualifications are "was a catcher for the White Sox" then f***ing give it to Corky Miller. So if Dave Martinez gets the job, does that mean he only got it because he "was an outfielder for the White Sox"?

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:27 AM) I want no part of LaRussa at all. I'd rather make Hawk the manager. Seriously. Admit it. Not seriously.

Pizza guy breaking the news. I don't know whether to be sarcastic and call this thread a joke, or to absolutely love the fact that the internet spreads information like this. I'll go with just enjoying it.

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:07 PM) I think Jay would be a really good quarterback if given a line he trusts and a WR corps that would only start for one team, The Bears. Nice. I can look at his performance with the Broncos, too. The Bears are a joke. Their line is a joke, their receivers are a joke, and it's time for a new f***ing era since we've wasted the entire Brian Urlacher era on pathetic f***ing offenses. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:52 AM) I know you're not supposed to speak this way about "The Great One", but Wayne Gretzky at center in the NHL now wouldn't be great. Or even good. And Patrick Kane is no Wayne Gretzky. No matter the era, Gretzky would have been a beast. The NHL has much more of a dedication to working out and getting big, just look at how large Sid the Kid has gotten since he came into the league. Do you think Wayne Gretzky wouldn't have access to the same nutrition and workout methods all current NHLers have? He'd have been amazing no matter the era, because he was better than everyone. Sure, he's not getting 200+ points or 90+ goals in a season in today's NHL, but he'd be rocking 120-140 points in his prime. Today's NHL is way more conducive to scoring than the late nineties (where 2 line passes were penalties, a foot in the crease nowhere near the play meant no goal, there was no such thing as obscruction calls), and at age 36 Gretzky still posted 97 points with the Rangers in said era. As for "Kane is no Gretzky"... no f***ing s***. No one said that, not even close. Kane's playmaking abilities were rated "top notch". However, Rock saying he was compared to Gretzky for that was just downright silly, ESPECIALLY when talking about Kaner's ability to play center. It was completely irrelevant. Hell, Paul Coffey had vision, that doesn't mean Kaner can play defense either.

It only took four seasons for Piney to become relevant. Yet abother solid SOA episode.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) I think I read this one correctly: Chris Rongey Kenny also says he offered to vacate GM position for different job with #whitesox but that idea wasn't received well by ownership 1 minute ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® That seems like the Williams - President, Hahn - GM scenario. I guess it wasn't in the cards afterall. I'm shocked that he a) offered it and b) it wasn't accepted. Damn, JR.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) I hope not. Retired numbers are one thing. Statues should be for legends. And I hate the fact that Fisk has one. Paul Konerko might be the second-best hitter in Sox history.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) Don't forget Timo and Dewayne. DWEEZY
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) Sure, greg. By your criteria, everybody should have a statue erected. KW doesn't deserve one? What about Coop? Mark? PK? Dye? s***, the statues will outnumber the fans if you have your way. Mark Buehrle will have a statue. I bet PK will, too.

QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) The new manager should have had an opportunity to at least voice his opinion. JR just showing how long his dick is in the organization. (long)

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) The entire article is spot on. Too bad some people can't take their blinders off to realize the truth. Yeah, just post that article and close the thread. Seriously, everything could not have been summed up better. I also like how I was right in May when I said Ozzie had given up on the team.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Margalus with a great write up. What a fantastic f***ing paragraph.

Don Cooper getting a 4 year extension is fantastic. He's been the ace up our sleeve for awhile, now.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) I wouldn't hate the Alomar move, and I wouldn't like it. It'd be basically a lateral move, which is what I expect from this organization. It would feel very much like hiring Ozzie Guillen again, honestly. Albeit, a much quieter version.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 11:47 AM) All I know, is there is going to be a lot of sigs and avatars that will be changing. *cough*sqwert*cough* Why? Have you heard anything about Walker being gone?
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) I think it's always exciting for a new era to begin. Sadly, somehow Greg Walker is going to remain our team's hitting coach. SO WITH THAT, ambivalence reigns king for me.
-
My mood is: Ambivalent - I want the Sox to do well, but this season has jaded me to the point that I don't give a s***.
-
Interestingly, Ozzie demanded an extension AND that KW be fired.
-
Steve Stone was on 670 this morning and stated that the search will be very "quick", and he's pretty sure it'll be Sandy Alomar, and if not Alomar, Martinez.
