Why not? The official "Alex Rios Sucks" Thread

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) Who is forgetting it? Everyone is aware that it was backed. Just because it was backed by the fan base does not mean that Kenny gets away with it since it's turning out to be a bad move. Who cares? Adam Dunn WILL bust out of his funk; I don't think his lack of production over this month and a half should even be considered when we talk about firing Kenny. He's built himself quite the resume of failure, no need to add Dunn to his other very fireable offenses. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 24, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) See, I disagree with that. I supported both moves at the time, but I was a much bigger fan of the Peavy pickup. The value of an ace is significant in the post-season. Getting a guy with ace potential is practically impossible, unless you have a Dan Haren package of prospects available or have $150 million to spend in free agency. So I was glad KW rolled the dice on Peavy, even if there was a reasonable chance it wouldn't work. I'll happily take such a risk if it improves my chance of winning a World Series. A good CF on the otherhand is easier to attain, especially if you're willing to spend $55 million. I was still willing to gamble on Rios due to his immense potential, but I had much more worries about him due to his past struggles. So. Way to go with the creative screen name. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 24, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) I'll go with Beckham, simply based on the fact that he has to be an 825-850 OPS guy at 2B in the future for this team to have any chance.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) Regardless, I still think he's close...I'm not ready to call this a failure yet. I just don't see it. Dude's rocked a .695 OPS to raise his season's value to a whopping .573. This follows a .684 OPS in 65 games following the All-Star Break last year. That's an awful lot of consistently bad baseball. 429 at bats of dogs*** baseball, but yeah, he's close! -
I loathe fake tits. Get the lift when you hit your 40s, but big fake boobs just don't do it for me.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) Rios Manny Edwin/Hudson Swisher Kotsay as DH Kenny's on quite a streak. You know, I forgot to list it too because, well, JFP had a nice start so we're all hope and happiness, but add Jake Peavy to the list of epic failure. I mean, trading for an injured starter just can't ever be a good idea. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) And honestly if Hahn is more of the "stats" guy, that only made it more likely he would have been going after Dunn as well. I'm not pissed about the Dunn signing, I'd be crazy to be... he's going to get his. His was a can't miss deal that has missed so far, but he'll pay off... Rios is Kenny's "your fired" move. Manny was just bonus. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) But don't you think they consider his opinion as to which players to sign/acquire? They listen to Ozzie for pete's sakes... Sure, he's no puppet, but I'm certain he'd run things differently than Kenny. Kenny is his own breed. -
QUOTE (The Baconator @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal #Padres Class AAA infielder Alex Cintron retires. Agent Burton Rocks says desire was there, but past surgeries affected him physically. #MLB 4 minutes ago I forgot all about Cintron.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) The irony being he probably negotiated those Dunn and Konerko deals, as he job has always been said to center on contract negotiations specifically. Yeah, after being told to "get it done", "all in", "sling gun", he got it done. Dear Lord, what has it come to that I want Kenny Williams fired? sad face -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Batting averages in May: Quentin: .190 Dunn: .214 OBP in May: Quentin: .278 Dunn: .330 OPS in May: Quentin: .659 Dunn: .741 Hilarity at it's finest.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 24, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) Adam Dunn's lack of a single hit against a left-hander is a funny statistic. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6763/s...g4UPla9pdeFCLcF 0-30, baby! HA! I found this article (linked to me by a buddy) right after I posted. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_leagu...?urn=mlb-wp7384

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) I'm not saying it's anyone's fault. All I'm saying is that a lot of people agreed to buy the $75k Range Rover here. Now that it's turned out to have reliability issues, everyone wants to trade it in for $20k less than we owe. Well guess what, if you want to do that, you'd better be prepared to walk to work for a few years... I don't want to blow the team up. You clearly are inferring what you aren't reading. I want someone f***ing fired to show that people will be held accountable in this franchise. We have a fully capable, highly regarded Assistant GM who can take the reigns. And hell, maybe fire the manager and the hitting coach of a roster that perennially underperforms. That doesn't mean trade every player. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) But patience is required. If you supported the signing of Adam Dunn, and the resigning of PK, you implicitly signed up for at the very least, one to two full more years of this core. This is what frustrates me to no end about the posters saying "blow it up," "fire everyone," etc. You don't signAdam Dunn and Paul Konerko and then decide to rebuild when things aren't going peachy after 50 games. That option evaporated when you took this latest course of action and re-upped on this core. It makes no sense whatsoever, given the makeup of this roster and the payroll of this roster, to blow everything to smithereens after 50 games. It cannot be done effectively. Supporting the signing of Dunn and Konerko meant supporting more years of this group we have, and we're going to have to lie in that bed. Yes, because clearly when moron fans agree with gunslinger Kenny, that means it's all their fault and no one should ever be held accountable. Clearly, we're all idiots. "SWISHER GON' DOMINATE IN THE CELL!!! MANNYPALOOZA!! (my bad) WOOT GRIFFEYTALK!!! TCQ MVP!!! WOOHOO!!" You know, that stuff. Soxtalk agreed with "All-In"... well, that's f***ing great. Guess what happens when you go "All-In" and wind up with a losing hand? Oh yeah, your game ends and someone takes your seat. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 24, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) I'm glad I didn't watch knowing NBC's cheesy advertising "MORE COLOR!" couldn't pull in enough audience to keep it afloat. I'd really hate to have invested the time into it, have what is described in those spoilers happen, and then nothing more since it was clearly leading somewhere cool.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) NO ONE WANTS THE SALARY OF THOSE PLAYERS. Exactly. This team is f***ed. Hence why we need to perhaps hold accountable the person(s) responsible for the f***ing of this team. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) Yes Rios sucks. He's so bad. Please trade him. See, these kinds of posts seem to lack understanding of the White Sox's situation. Don't you think if Rios were tradeable, he'd have been traded instead of outright waived and allowed to come to the White Sox? He is untradeable at this point. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) That's the obvious reason, yes. It's the first one that any of us has ever seen. So, maybe it's like the first girlfriend/the first girl you nailed. You waited so long and someone finally came around and brought you to the promised land. You're so grateful and you'd do anything for her. Now it's years later and things are obviously not working out. You've both let yourselves go, and neither of you is even trying anymore. You are still nostalgic for the way things were, but it obviously isn't going to happen anymore. And even though you want to keep things going, you know the best thing to do is to move on. About right? yes -
I have no complaints about Alexei's defense. I just found it funny that a thread about him maturing as a hitter popped up when his OPS is nearly identical to the one he put up over his entire rookie season. It's nothing to be excited about, in terms of maturation. However, he is the least of our problems, so I hate that I turned this into a complaint thread. Go Sexei.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) I don't know why that is so hard to understand. 2005, and I get that, I really do. However, as I so eloquently stated in a thread about three weeks ago, my 5-year free pass expired and now I want people held accountable. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:12 PM) So you aren't being clever in the least. It's actually quite the opposite. Instant outrage at any post made without white and black pom-poms seems to be popular right now in the off-chance that the White Sox repeat their historic comeback of 2010... you know, when they still missed the playoffs by 6 games! -
