  1. I have to say, I was unable to watch any games from Thursday to Monday and it really helped not give a s***. If you're frustrated by this season, I highly recommend a 3-4 game period of radio silence. Good for the soul.
  2. honestly, do we get over .500 this year at any point? I'm starting to have my doubts (and no, that has nothing to do with this game).
  3. Try as they might, this team just isn't strong enough to overcome the 11-22 start. If they had just gone .500 or a little under at that time they'd be in 1st.
  4. Turner called up to pitch today for kitties. Showcasing him?
  5. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) I'm not. Not with the Sox 3.5 games out in a weak division. If Kenny wants to rebuild, that's fine. But wait until November. I feel the same way -- unless we're talking Dom Brown. Then all bets are off and I'll drive CQ to the airport.
  6. Kenny Williams has done to the Sox what Martz is doing the Bears what Booth did to Lincoln.
  7. QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) Look at it this way - The Sox aren't winning anything this year without Dunn and Rios coming around. If those guys start hitting then they can win with Dayan in Qs place. Or, look at this way - The Sox are 2 games out in the loss column without Dunn and Rios contributing jacks***. So I think they can win the division without them coming around. And I think we can make a run in the playoffs with our pitching staff. However, I don't think we can expect Dayan to replace our 2nd most productive hitter, CQ, and be just as productive. That's too much to ask. So if we trade him then it's pretty much a signal that we're done. And if we're done, he needs to go "all in" on being done and not try to sell us some snake oil idea that we're still in this thing.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) @DKnobler DKnobler Braves and Phils both very interested in Quentin, and it appears Sox would consider moving him even tho just 3 games out. #tradedeadline So we are considering moving him. I'm assuming Dayan's thumb injury isn't too bad...?
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) I'm always amazed at how many people on this site are friends with actual MLB players. hey, I had lunch with that guy 2 years ago! great stories about Joe West. (reason: he's old friends with my boss, who brought me along)
  10. 11-6 looks like we might be 2 out in the loss column
  11. tigers offense has to be good, because that pitching staff after the front two...not good
  12. must be nice to know you have an offense that can pick up your pitchers like that
  13. tigers look absolutely brain dead today. wow.
  14. Detroit gives up 2 errors in the 2nd but Angels only capitalize on one of them. Trumbo just hit a 2 run homer that they're going to review...
  15. all right, lets get a little los angeles angels of anaheim in orange county vs. detoilet going.
  16. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) Omar played 1B a few times this year already. i remember once. and he ditched the first baseman's mitt for his own glove.
  17. If they pull PK for a pinch runner and Dunn is DH'ing, who else plays 1B? Omar?
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:52 AM) How so? I'm all for honoring Dye, but not with a retired number (or statue that comes with said retired number). Maybe updating Champions Plaza, but that's all I can think of. Maybe something like they did with Fisk, that was nice. I agree, you don't retire his number. But that's not the only option. And besides, how many WS mvps have we had?
