Question: in the Rays/Twins game Tolbert tried to bunt with a runner on second and one out. Runner advanced to third and tolbert was thrown out at first. He was trying to bunt for a single but they ruled it a sacrifice. Do they always do that when someone is on base then advances when the batter is thrown out attempting a bunt? -

beautiful weather for baseball - 85 and sunny (greg walker twitches) -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 29, 2009 -> 09:52 AM) Exactly, for as much as people blow the Tigers horn they and the Sox and the Twins are all 6-4 over their last 10 games. Also, the Sox and Tigers have played 22 games at home while the Twins have played 30, and guess what, the Twins are 5-14 on the road and 19-11 at home. That's why I thought it was crazy that people were acting like the Sox had no chance this year when there was talk about the Peavy trade, they do without him, adding him to the rotation would only make it stronger... Tigers have yet to lose more than 3 in a row, too. You know that will change. Both the Sox and twinkies have hit rough patches. KC is hitting theirs now and the tribe seems to be emerging from one that started opening day. I think things will look different by the end of June.

wasn't the knock on Quentin in AZ that he was injury prone?

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 28, 2009 -> 08:00 PM) nice that the Sox gained a .5 game on the Twins and Tigers by sleeping in their rooms in KC this is going to be a fun division all summer.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2009 -> 09:17 PM) It's not like it was 2 ft off the plate. Fuentes gets a lot of hitters to chase his bad pitches due to his funky arm angle. I'm more pissed that Anderson went after such a bad pitch on the 0-0. He seems to be struggling in important situations (and he always has). sad, but true. -
way too much expectation is being placed on this guy, IMO.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 27, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) they said on the score dye was starting his suspension tonight, is that not true? gameday has him in the lineup, and I think that goes based on the lineup card presented by the manager. -
who are those guys?
-
PODS LEXI DYE THOME KONG BA FIELDS NIX MILLER
-
If a pitcher has a problem with it, f*** him. As long as we get production from prancer while he's in there, i'm a happy guy. And I would bet good money that Pods doesn't give a s*** what anyone thinks. You just can't deny that when the top of the order gets on good things happen. Dye, Thome and Kong hit so much better when they're standing in there with purpose.

i prefer the east coast starts as well - game is over by dinnertime here.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 26, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) I hate West Coast games. isn't kind of cool to stay up late and watch a game?

If Colon can keep it close and the Sox can get to the pen, we have a chance. We've got to make Saunders work.

What it takes to get back into it by the All-Star Break?

sweep the five game series with the kitties and we'll be well long before the break... -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2009 -> 06:09 AM) I know there was quite a bit of frustration with the guy last night, but I am going to swim against the flow here... Last night was as impressed with Danks as I have ever been. He literally had nothing last night. He couldn't keep his change from bouncing, his fastball was topping out at about ninety, and he didn't even try his curveball in the early innings. Somehow the kid managed to gut out six innings while only giving up 3 runs, dispite walking SIX guys. On paper it looks awful, in reality, we saw a real maturing last night. Anytime you can get a pitcher that young to suck up and make a quality start out of the stuff he had last night is amazing. Most pitchers wouldn't have stuck around long enough to get a QS out of that mess, but somehow Danks managed to fool just enough hitters to win that game. Especially with as large of a lead as he had, Danks could have just started grooving fastballs to get the hitters swinging, and get through innings, but he didn't. He pitched every single inning like it was a one run game. Danks looked like Mark Buehrle battling last night. He was just a sight to be watched. that's a refreshing way to look at it. I was very frustrated with the way he was walking people and enticing the Angels to get back in the game, which i think they would've done if our offense hadn't buried them so quickly. But I salute the optimism and hope that Danks gets this wildness under control in the next start.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 25, 2009 -> 11:45 PM) I actually meant to type that it was great how he grinded out that start. So, yeah. You're right, he can't keep pitching like this or he'll be in for some harsh times. i'm with you there. seemed like any fight the angels had was exhausted in that first inning when they came back to tie it. Danks just gets wild out there sometimes.
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 25, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) John Danks grinded out a great start. Alexei's getting back on track, Scotty Pods has found an approach at the plate that works, and i'm wearing my World Series Podsednik jersey. This is White Sox Baseball. Oh, and Ventura in the clubhouse? That's True White Sox Tradition. he was awful. and very lucky.

Sox @ Angels 5-25-09 - Danks vs. Santana

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 25, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) Not as serious as originally thought. He's day to day right now, but many think he'll probably hit the 15 day DL. thanks...relief. Hudler on the Angels broadcast was reading his lips to say "I felt something pop." I thought he was done for the season.
