  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 19, 2009 -> 09:12 AM) Contreras pitched a 1-hit CG last night. 3 walks, 5 k's, 100 pitches 66 strikes. http://www.examiner.com/x-2683-Charlotte-S...edo-Mud-Hens-40 http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...94&sid=t494 well...that has to help his confidence, right?
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) A good chance for you younger guys to see Old Comiskey Park. Tito f***ing Landrum. To this day that remains one of the most depressing moments for me as a Sox fan. That team would have won the world series. I have no doubts.
  3. looks like the twins will be coming to town on a 4 game skid. someone is going to get well in this series
  4. QUOTE (b-Rye @ May 18, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) sox got swept by jays in 4 last year... also had the same type of losing streak as we are now last season.. then we won the division. it's weird, but we lost 4 in a row in toronto last year (leaving us 14-17) and then came home to play the twins (winning 2 of 3). We then went 13-3. come on...stranger things have happened.
  5. I need to wait at least two more weeks before throwing in the towel, but I'm close, especially because there are so many shortcomings on this team - even playing fundamental baseball seems out of reach. If this division wasn't so weak it would be much easier to concede now, as most seem to be doing. I'm not blaming you, but it just seems too early. And if Danks and Floyd can stop getting behind in the count, they will be much improved. Add Colon and Richard...things could get interesting. We still have a pretty solid pen.
  6. funny, they had a real shot at splitting but for bad outings by Dotel and Linebrink.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2009 -> 12:14 PM) Someone want to give me the summary of what happened on Rios's triple? liner to CF, pods made a great effort to dive and get it, ball rolled to the track. if nix wasn't backing it up it would've been in the park dinger.
  8. QUOTE (Cali @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) I really don't see how this team would be any worse with Viciedo/Beckham playing everyday within the next month or so... isn't his defense even worse?
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:43 AM) I don't think we have the confidence to win a low scoring game right now. Even Joey Cora and Josh Fields confirmed that on Saturday. and that confidence is even lower when faced with overcoming a 3-4 run lead.
  10. that second strike started out of the zone and went out even further
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) How so? We're getting quality pitching today (and did Saturday), and we still couldn't win (assuming we lose today). It's real simple: this offense is on its way to have an underachieving performance of epic proprotions. my rationale is that the offense isn't going to "snap" out of it and start averaging six runs per game. it's going to take time. until then, the pitching has to keep it a low scoring game so we can win a few 3-2, 4-3 type games, get the winning vibe going again. If they're buried early by 4 or 5 runs, it's over.
  12. would LOVE to see them come back and win this to set up Mark's start tomorrow
  13. i don't think any of this has much to do with coaches. Any firings would be raw meat thrown to the angry masses. Like Konerko said, people need to look in the mirror.
  14. getz was safe. some of these umps seriously need to be re-evaluated.
  15. i wish joey would've made gavin wear this one and stay out there and spare the pen.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 17, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) who thinks ginger kids picture is sporting a very trendy and sexxy leg? that is hot. he broke the first one he got after the war when he got drunk and went out dancing.
  17. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ May 17, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) I say yes, he will. Very un-White-Sox-like. odds just swung heavily against you
