  1. a good old fashioned bench clearing brawl where no one gets hurt, a la 2000 vs. the tigers. Might do the trick again. (I know, i'm grasping at straws. Bad ones).
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2009 -> 08:52 PM) Brian Bogusevic, who was the likely Sox pick if we didn't take Broadway, was even worse in the minors as a starter. ellsbury was also available...
  3. QUOTE (scenario @ May 5, 2009 -> 07:28 PM) You do realize that Longoria played in over 200 minor league games before being called up, right? Beckham has played in less than 40. lets just go get longoria, then
  4. nice to have a bright spot in an otherwise ugly game: DJ
  5. someone just needs to put the sox out of their misery
  6. guess DJ didn't get the memo to suck, glad i was wrong
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) KW should have predicted his 2 top CF options would both suffer completely random injuries in the first month of the season. well said. not to mention that this 3rd option would get released.
  8. ESPN insider reporting that the Sox have talked to Pedro...
  9. and FWIW, it's WAY too early for freaked-out threads like this.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2009 -> 06:04 PM) Ah, the old vote of confidence for Walker. It's like groundhog day. When you have to give a coach a vote of confidence every year, maybe it's time to go in a new direction: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...-050409.article I don't even know why Gary Ward is still in the organization. Oh, that's right...he played with Kenny.
  11. wish there was a photo of the expression on the chinese seamstress who put together Colon's uni
  12. the braves announcers are talking about how weird it is watching vasquez pitch, how he seems to be getting hurt by one bad inning this season. oh man, are they in for a long summer.
  13. I know he's had his own troubles, but I still admire the obstacles he's overcome in his life.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2009 -> 11:56 AM) You want a good game plan for tonight? Have Colon drill a Royals hitter up and in during the first inning. With the bad blood from the first series, as well as last year, that could be effective in getting Greinke away from the inner half. don't you get the sense some payback is coming? Didn't hawk say something about seeing them again in a few weeks? I know Greinke likes to throw at the Sox - he did it last year. With the way Q's frustration has been building like Mt. St. Helens, he'd better not be the target or we could be looking at involuntary manslaughter.
  15. i still don't get why pods doesn't go back to LF, and Q to RF, both positions each has played before. Can't wait to see that cannon in RF tonight. If i were the royals i would try to turn every hit into RF into a double, until he throws someone out.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2009 -> 10:05 AM) Galarraga's a quality starter. If Bonderman returns and can be in the 4.5 ERA range, then the Tigers have a great chance to win this division. pitching to their potential, i still see the sox as having a better 1-5 than the tigers, or anyone else in the division. That is, pitching to their potential. If Contreras is really done, as the numbers seem to suggest for the last two years, then no.
