QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) We don't need an outfielder. We've got Mackowiak, who moonlights as a left fielder. and he's part of the top rated bench no less

QUOTE(PA32R @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) On game day the Count appears to be very effective. How does he look if you're actually watching him? I just finally got the game on MLBTV. Looks pretty good - they're playing some nice D behind him.
-
I should also say that BA reminds me a lot of Crede when he used to struggle after he first came up
-
Lord I wish we could've picked up a decent outfielder when it was obvious back in June that this guy can't hit ML pitching
-
why would verlander throw a change to a guy who can't catch up to his FB?
-
21 pitches for Count. Nice pace.

isn't young supposed to be in jail?

I can't see the game, but Farmio sounds like he doesn't like the calls

good interview with Coop on the radio -- says sox fans should be proud of the way the team is fighting to "get it back"

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) a-f***ing-men Carlos Guillen - Seattle Magglio Ordonez - Chicago Ivan Rodriguez - Texas and Florida Sean Casey - Cincinnati Kenny Rogers - friggin everywhere Todd Jones - Minnesota, Boston, Florida most importantly Jim Leyland - Florida and Pittsburgh Most importantly Leyland? He fills out the lineup card and gives good pep talks. In my book it's: Bonderman Robertson Miner Verlander Zumaya Rodney Put those guys in a pressure cooker. -
Anybody else think that Cintron might be our starting SS for awhile?
-
glad to read from Konerko that the Sox are treating these next three like "playoff games" That's the ticket

All I want to see is the Sox put some pressure on the Tigers for the next two months. They haven't played with pressure yet all year because there really is no pressure until the last two months of the season. They play great playing loose and letting it fly. Put pressure on guys who've never been here before and then see how they do. I'm not saying they'll fold...but it could knock them off their stride. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) Jeter is pretty fast. Had Cintron actually come up with that ball, Jeter probably still would've beaten it out considering how far Alex had to go to his right. but what about Juan?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) So, Uribe's been out for 5 games or so...can you point to a single game where Uribe being out has cost us a run on defense? I don't think I can. However, in the last 3 times Mackowiak has started in CF, I can point to 1 instance in each game where him being in CF has directly cost us a run, and several others where him being in CF has either made the pitcher work harder or made a situation for a pitcher worse and wound up costing us runs that way. It may just be because of the much larger difference in performance between our "2" center fielders, but I feel a lot worse when Mack gets a start than I do when Cintron does. Javy worked out of a jam last night in the first when Alex couldn't handle Jeter's ground ball that was ridiculously ruled a base hit and not an error. Granted, it didn't lead to a run, but that was thanks to Javy. But I do have to agree with you in terms of subs, I feel that Cintron is far more competent at short than Mack is in center. Not even close.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:28 AM) I don't quite get this considering he was an out away (for a while) of going 7 innings with 3 runs (which is a darn good start). thank you by the way, I thought Buck Martinez made a good point last night about the drop in velocity on BMac's slide step to the plate versus the wind up. Brandon's a work in progress, and a damn fine one. He'll be in the rotation next year.
-
without question, Uribe. But I don't think it's a fair comparison given the number of plays involving a SS. And Abreu nearly beat out a sharply hit ground ball to Cintron last night after Alex took an extra step to load and fire. Juan's got a cannon - we miss him.

I hope the Sox drive up his pitch count early. Tigers pen is ripe for the picking.
