Dontrelle Willis almost a White Sox?
The Ginger Kid replied to whitesox61382's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 11:45 AM) Ugh, I'm completely torn when it comes to Willis. I think he'll be pretty damn bad about 3 years from now but he probably would dominate the AL for the rest of this season, throwing elbows and knees at people. I would NEVER, NEVER trade McCarthy for Willis, that would be a huge mistake and I just can't see a deal getting done without including McCarthy. If it were Fields + spects I'd jump all over that and then dump Freddy on someone for a piece as well. Vazquez would nearly double their payroll, they have NO use for him. aren't the yankees still picking up some of Javy's salary? -
QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) Same thing I do. Lately I've been trying to avoid watching the games because I get so mad. It's yet to reach the depths of pain and frustration suffered last year when the lead went away and you knew they were going to lose yet you couldn't look away. People were screaming "who cares if they get in the playoffs, they effin suck! They'll be swept in the first round!!" And for the last few years the sox have been capable of some incredible displays of ineptitude at points in the season. They had a lead in July of '04 and it went away, too. I just hope this year's swoon ends sooner than later.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) Phuck this. Season is officially over IMO. just feels like it, but it ain't. they'll play good again, the only question is how long will it take. Obviously it wasn't tonight.

nice hit, JD. the sox haven't won a game since the filter has been on. Coincidence?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) Have you checked his stats/watched him pitch at all this year? He has a near 4 ERA, 1.42 WHIP 86K/44BB (horrible) and .282 BAA. WTF is good about that? He's doing all that in a giant pitchers park. He is not good. but he's always on sportscenter, he must be good

feel bad for Mark, he's been so clutch on so many occasions and right now he has absolutely lost it.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) Anyone else really want to see Thome try to lay one down to the 3rd base side when he's up with no one on against a left-handed pitcher? I would, but he'd probably take a pitch off his hand, break his finger and go on the DL.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) This is the second time you've questioned this quote in different threads from what I've see. You just can't be serious at this point. I don't think he's seen it.

Sox have 19 games until they face the tigers again. Need to pick up a few games from now until then. Can't afford to keep losing ground, however, or that 3 game series could bury us.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 07:38 AM) Sorry if for some reason I am optimistic but I am. I really think the Sox will only lose once on this home stand as they miss Liriano, Millwood and that lefty that schooled them. I think Buerhle and Garcia will look good and the the Detroit series well, the pitching did their job. I expect Thome to be heard from and my most hated player Pods to get rolling. I think this is the Anderson we will see for the next 7 years and Rowand will be a memory, he is hitting .212 in July by the way. I believe the bullpen is ready and Vazquez is going to get hot. 12-3 going into Toronto. Christ we have the second best record in the game and have not played to our potential. I am sorry but the Twins and Tigers offense is not good enough. Good Day. I'm with you until mathematically eliminated

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) If they get Soriano, like I think they will, the AL is in a lot of trouble. I think Stoneman is finally going to give up some of those prospects and make a deal, at least that's what I'm hearing out here. Anaheim has more to offer.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) One thing I have learned as a baseball fan, everyday is a new day, you can't tell whats going to happen until it happens. you're right there, it is a funny sport. Sox had a 3.5 game lead in May which they lost over the course of 9 days when they went 3-5 and the kitties didn't lose. Bottom line? Even if detroit stumbles (which I think they will, but certainly not collapse) it makes no difference if the Sox can't capitalize on it. It would be fun going into August 11-13 if the Sox were within 2 or 3, which means they have to pick up 2 or 3 games over the next 19 games. For that to happen they have to play much, much better. Starting right now!

anyone think the Tigers will wiin 109 games, their current pace?

last year's team pitched better than this years. I'll take this offense over that any day.

QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:20 PM) My favorite would have to be the Tigers..but I've listened to them for years As in 3? Mario used to do radio in Anaheim -
Let's see how this team responds to adversity
The Ginger Kid replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think this team will be fine. They're playing like spiff right now but the pitching seems to be coming around. We'll see about Buehrle tomorrow. Ozzie needs a quicker hook with Vasquez and I think he's probably learned his lesson. This deficit could be overcome in one week just as a 15 game lead evaporated over the course of a month. get hot, stay hot, and you won't have to worry about anyone else.
