Frank Thomas Is a Hall of Famer
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 05:35 AM) Why did Frank get all prissy on Twitter earlier? What rookie was compared to him? Because that is classic Frank Thomas, the egomaniac

Spring Training 2014
I cannot understand how a MLB player could have visa problems and show up late to camp.

Well, it gets said every year, but if guys like Hawkins, Thompson, Mitchell, Barnum and maybe a few others were to make serious strides this season, the evaluation of the Sox farm system changes considerably and is no longer a "punchline" as the article suggests, and many who argue that it's been an organizational weakness would have to re-evaluate their assumptions. In other words, it wouldn't take much.

Frank Thomas Is a Hall of Famer
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) What percent of those people do you think still have the same phone number that they had in 1997? Good point. It was weird seeing guys like Hank Aaron on there. I did call one, Stan Musial, but a woman answered so I hung up.

Frank Thomas Is a Hall of Famer
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 30, 2014 -> 07:57 PM) Fun fact: I have Minnie's cell phone number. Fun fact: in 1997 the MLB Hall of Fame accidentally posted all of the contact information for all living members on some kind of alumni link. I printed it out and still have it in some box in the garage.

Jose Lobotan
I know this has been beaten to death, but if you're not making a run at the pennant don't you have to see what you have with Phegley for a season?

ESPN predicts Sox at 71-91
I'm hoping for 85 wins and a 2nd place finish...a team on the rise.

So call me confused
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 28, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) That's the thing, the Sox are aware of the state of the team, but you go into every season as if you are going to compete. If the Sox are going to compete, they are going to need Dunn's bat in the lineup. Can they seriously compete with Detroit as they're built right now? I can't see how management would think so. If Dunn could bring a solid prospect in return for a year of his services then I'd be up for it.

So call me confused
Pittsburgh is kind of desperate for a 1B. Wonder what Dunn could bring?

2014 Catching Scenarios
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 12:45 PM) Flowers was better defensively. Phegley's arm may make him better at stopping baserunners eventually, but in 2013, Flowers was without a doubt a stronger defensive catcher. Phegley won a defensive award in AAA, but mostly on his arm - so he's improved over time, but is not yet at Flowers' level. And consider how bad he was defensively. What a gaping hole in the roster.

Sox re-sign Gordo and De Aza 1 year each
Interesting read on Beckham. If you don't like Beckham. Yahoo Sports

Rosenthal: Tanaka to Yankees
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 09:56 AM) This makes absolutely no sense, why do people keep saying things like this? Tanaka's going to make his announcement live and start to put on a Cubs hat then say "psych" in Japanese and switch it with a Sox lid. It's gonna be so cool.
-
Rosenthal: Tanaka to Yankees
Why is MLB radio saying it's down to LA, Cubs, D-backs and Yankees?

Rosenthal: Tanaka to Yankees
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 06:31 PM) Anyone with half a brain should be guessing LA. Thats not insight, thats just not being marginally retarded. It may not be LA, but I could post "My sources say LA" and be pretty confident Im going to wake up right Weds. Yeah, radio out here keeps playing up the fact that Ned Colletti's been in contact with Close every day. Hope Rick has been too.

Hahn's next move?
I'm surprised I haven't heard Keppinger's name mentioned with the Yankees need for a 3B. They had interest in him last season.
